The whole ride was silent. I was pretending to do something with my phone to get myself away from the awkward situation. Fortunately, he also didn't seem to want to start a conversation.

We stopped in front of a restaurant that showcased its Zen-like beauty.

The valet immediately ran towards us. I didn't pay any mind at the waiters lining to greet us and guided us towards our table and that the restaurant was empty.

I guess we're the first customer.

The waiter handed the menu to us.

Honestly, I didn't understand a thing that was written on it. I put down the menu and looked at the cold man in front of me.

"I'll be having what you'll be having." I sweetly smiled at him, trying to hide my ignorance.

Cain didn't mind and somewhat expected this scene to happen.

"Venison with bacon, golden beets and foraged greens, moreish mussels escabeche on toast, long island duck breast with roasted acorn squash, apples chanterelle mushrooms and figs, grilled skate with red quinoa, creamed kale and Cipollini onion and deviled farm eggs with Dijon mustard."

He said in one breath as if he ordered it all the time.

I'm amazed that he didn't get tongue twisted.

Silence befell us again after the waiter left the two of us alone. Cold sweat immediately ran down from my back, my hands cold while my eyes were continually darting at the door.

"..."

No longer could stand the silence, I asked. "Where's Zhane and the others?"

Cain played with the teacup in his hands while his eyes were not leaving mine for a second.

"It's just going to be the two of us."

My smile instantly froze. I gave him a confused look.

Cain leisurely sipped his tea and said, "The contract only needs your signature, no need for the others to be present."

This is precisely what I was trying to say last night! I could have just printed and sign the contract and e-mailed it back to you! No need for this breakfast! Alright?!

I gave him an 'oh' look and immediately messaged Zhane.

The heavenly aroma swiftly engulfed the whole room. My stomach grumbled with delight.

Embarra.s.sed, I look down at my teacup. Cain chuckled, yet he didn't say anything which I secretly thanked him for.

Colorful dishes were laid on our table and my eyes immediately fixed on that plate of white, creamy, soft pieces of grains.

"Oh! You serve rice?" I smiled at the old man standing beside Cain. From the way he dressed and conduct himself, he seemed to be the manager.

The old man smiled politely at me. "It's a special request of Mr. Fay for you, young miss."
