When Thunderlord finished speaking, he jumped down, and grabbed the chains to reduce the impact. His silhouette was quickly swallowed by the darkness. The Ten G.o.ds of Baoze gradually jumped into the pool, and Ape G.o.d was the last.
He turned around and told the senior staff of Baoze, “All staff, remain here on standby!” He then leapt down too.
Li Xianyu and his harem concubines followed him into endless darkness.
Several domestic forces, including the a.s.sociation of Superpowered Beings, as well as the Zhao and Shentu families, looked at each other. As they made eye contact, they saw wariness and misgivings in their glances.
If there was truly something that was suppressed at the bottom of the pool, they would probably die. But if there was a treasure down there and they were a step behind, wouldn't Baoze get to it first?
In the end, the lure of the Great Deities Palace trumped caution. When they had come to the Great Deities Palace, wasn't the goal to seek fortune amidst danger?
Wald Jones, the vice president of the a.s.sociation of Superpowered Beings, turned around and said to his disciples, Eric and Victoria, “Wait here, I'll go down to take a look.”
Other forces also instructed their own disciples and members, as a group of powerful elders and leaders jumped into the pool.
As expected, the bottom of the pool cut straight to the ground. After falling about 100 meters, there were bright lights at the bottom of the pool, which were emitted by Baoze's Fire G.o.d. He held up a big fireball of one meter in diameter with one hand, and the flames dispelled the darkness.
Shentu Changgong and the others landed on the ground and looked around with the light of the fire. The bottom of the pool was empty, with nothing but a cold aura swirling.
Shentu Changgong and Xu Changda looked at each other, and they couldn't accept the result.
Wald Jones stroked a chain thicker than his bear-like waist, and took a light stick out of a military backpack.
He lit it up, looked around for a moment, and said, “The iron chain is intact and there's no trace of destruction. Either the bottom of the pond has always been empty, or the thing that's trapped here is dead.”
“What about the corpse then?” Xu Changda asked.
Wald couldn't answer as he furrowed his brows.
“The Great Deities Palace is such a place?” Shentu Changgong was extremely displeased. It was not what he had expected.
The Demonic Priest came to the Great Deities Palace once and was able to advance to Gokudo by bringing something out from it. Li Wuxiang came to the Great Deities Palace once, and brought something out that could subvert the world.
Now, they came to the Great Deities Palace and they saw nothing but a desolate and lonely place.
They came in with excited expressions and now they had to walk out empty-handed with frustrated expressions?
“It depends on how you define the Great Deities Palace.” Li Xianyu mocked. “Do you guys think that the Great Deities Palace is a sacred place where all the precious medicine is available, and where sacred gold is everywhere?”
“The people who entered the Great Deities Palace are dead, and no one knows what place the Great Deities Palace is exactly. Aren't y'all disappointed? All of you spent so much effort and this is the result?” Li Xianyu did not conceal his mockery. He had the right to mock them.
“For us, the real treasure has been found,” Fire G.o.d suddenly said.
Shentu Changgong and other leaders immediately looked at him.
Qi gushed in Fire G.o.d's palm, pus.h.i.+ng the fireball several meters above the top of the crowd, and pointed to the wall on the left. “Look there.”
As he gestured, the fire lit up the walls of the pool in red, and there was a mural engraved on it. The murals, drawn with very simple lines, had a vivid charm.
The content of the mural was a giant animal of abstract shape. The painter drew several mountains by its side, and its body was as tall as the mountain, its face was ferocious, as it snarled up to the sky, with the moon in the sky.
Using only a few lines, it presented a life-like depiction.
“Look over there.” Combat G.o.d pointed to the walls of the pool on the other side, where there was a mural of the same giant beast, which was as tall as the mountains.
The second painting had the same background as the first, and clouds and crescent moon on top of its head.
The difference was that there were many humans and animals kneeling in front of the beast. They were trembling in front of the beast, wondering whether to kneel or beg for mercy. With the ferocious look of the beast, an aura of a demonic beast exuded.
This time around, the members of Baoze didn't even have to cue them, as everyone looked at the third mural. The giant beast walked between the mountains and rivers, and in front of it was a majestic palace. The beast looked like it was about to enter.
The palace was tall, and although the giant beast was as tall as the mountains, it looked very small in front of it.
When they saw this painting, people could not help but think of the Great Deities Palace. The towering stone and bronze doors were as if prepared for this gargantuan beast.
They then looked at the last mural.
In the mural, the beast lay silently on the ground. The lines depicting its body were twisted and blurry, presumably intended to express how badly it had been wounded. Four chains tied its limbs, as it lay still, dead.
Everyone was deep in contemplation. The message that the murals depicted was clear. In the distant past, there was once a giant beast as tall as a mountain, dominating the world, with the creatures creeping beneath its feet. It was no kind existence and was ferocious, ruling as king.
And one day, it entered the Great Deities Palace, and fell inside. Its body was imprisoned in the Great Deities Palace, which was the great pool everyone was present in now.
However, there was nothing in the mural that revealed how the beast fell.
“What is that?” the head of a demon descendant family muttered.
“Ancient demon. This kind of beast can only be an ancient demona” Wald answered solemnly.
“But how could such a powerful ancient demon die in the Great Deities Palace?” Shentu Changgong whispered, as if scared it would alarm something.
The Great Deities Palace was an archaeological site of ancient demons, and the murals are supposed to depict the events of a pa.s.sage of time that happened in the world thousands of years ago.
“Who killed it? What's in the Great Deities Palace? Why did it enter the Great Deities Palace?” The head of a demon descendant family asked a series of questions, but no one could answer him.
“Find out if there are any other murals,” Wald said.
After searching the walls of the pool, they found two more murals at a height of about 50 meters above their heads.
The style was as simple as ever, and it was painted in the same style as the four murals.
The murals were about what happened one day in this s.p.a.ce. For some unknown number of years, at last, a human had arrived in this s.p.a.ce. He stood outside the pool and looked down carefully.
This was the first mural, and the second one, showed the human being at the bottom of the pond. He cradled his head in agony, and his body was enveloped by a black substance.
“Who is this person? Is he Demonic Priest or Li Wuxiang?” Xu Changda raised his eyebrows.
Only two people have entered the Great Deities Palace. Thus, this person was either Demonic Priest or Li Wuxiang, and both were inextricably linked to Li Xianyu.
Naturally, only Li Xianyu could answer this question, so many people turned around and looked at him.
