"There is no point in hiding it anymore, within the next two months you'll be getting married to the wealthy Xie Donghai." Xiong Guozhi didn't hide who she is getting married to or when. It was better to let his daughter prepare herself for a new life.

"W-What?" Xiong Jingfei trembled, she did not just hear that she'll be getting married to Xie Donghai. He is wealthy, that's how he marries a new woman every month! Everyone knows this, so should her father. Worse, he wants her to marry a man who could be her grandfather?

"I said-"

"I heard what you said!" Xiong Jingfei screamed, eyes filled with hate and rage.

Earlier, she was cowering and letting her father hit her because he was still her father. Now, she was looking at him as if he was a stranger to her.

Xiong Jingfei screaming at Xiong Guozhi had frightened him. She had the eyes of someone who will kill without blinking. He knows this, having to witness these type of evil eyes on his soldiers in the past.

"You're selling me to an old man!"

Xiong Guozhi back roared at her, feeling his ego stepped on when his own daughter could scare him. "Shut up! You don't know what's best for you."

"You can't do this to me!" Xiong Jingfei wailed, never had she screamed and cried this much in her life. Not even when Li Roulan was whipping her with a thin bamboo stick for her own daughters' mistake.

"Xu Song! Take your Miss back to her room. She has gone nuts!" Xiong Guozhi order, taking Li Roulan by the hand as he strolled right past Xiong Jingfei.

"No! Father, you can't do this to me!"

Xiong Jingfei grabbed onto her father's sleeve with a shred of hope he still remembers she is his daughter. The one he had doted on in the past. The one he was most impressed of in the past. The only one who was allowed to sit on his lap as a child. The one who he let her do anything she wants, and the one who he proudly calls, "daughter."

"Hmph," he tore his sleeves out of her grip. "You're punished to stay in your room until your wedding."

It was all too much for Xiong Jingfei to handle in one day. She collapsed right into Xu Song's arm.

"Master, Miss had fainted!"

Where did she go wrong in life? She followed her father's rules and fell in love with the man who was going to be her husband. She did her best in everything to be the perfect wife.

Hah, the heavens were truly testing her.

Ever since that day, Xiong Jingfei refused to eat or drink anything. Every time she did, Xu Song will get punished for not taking 'care' of her Miss. She'll come back with whiplash on her legs and arms. And whenever, Xiong Jingfei ask her where did she get those whiplash? Xu Song will say she accidentally burned herself and it must have created a burn mark.

"Songsong, do you think I'm stupid?" Xiong Jingfei frowned, cursing herself on the inside why was she so weak and powerless. She knows who's making all those 'punishments.' Without a doubt, they were the same whiplash that Li Roulan enjoys making when punis.h.i.+ng anyone.

She couldn't bear to watch the only person who truly loved her get hurt for her. Therefore Xiong Jingfei will force herself to eat, although she'll vomit everything right back out.

Li Roulan could careless if Xiong Jingfei eats or not. She only needs to survive until the day of the wedding and complete the ceremony. Everything afterward will be up to her husband if he wants her to survive or not.

Xiong Jingfei also couldn't escape this h.e.l.l place call home either; her legs were bounded to the bed leg. The furthest she can get to in her room was to the door to view freedom but knows she won't get it.

As each day comes pa.s.sing by, she begins to lose fate in ever escaping. She gave up walking to the door to see the freedom she'll never get. Instead, she sits on her bed day and night watching the outside view from her window.

Just like a caged person in prison will see.

When nighttime came around, she would feel someone touching her face the way Yang Zheyan had done in the past. It'll tenderly touch her eyes, nose, cheeks, and lips. Right before she wakes up, she'll feel a soft kiss on her forehead. She didn't think too deeply into it, as she may still be missing Yang Zheyan and only dreaming of his touch.

A few days later, Xu Song came running into the room filled with excitement.

"Miss, I heard the Yang family kicked out those two gate guards who hurt you."

Xu Song thought this news would bring her Miss a little happiness. Those two deserved it after doing that.

However, Xiong Jingfei didn't react any different than she did the other day. She began to talk less and less with Xu Song and everyone else.

Yesterday, she didn't speak a word with her father when he came by, which he had visited Xiong Jingfei twice only since that day. He stopped by to check how her recovery was going with her face.

Xu Song got up disappointedly that she couldn't even make her Miss smile. She doesn't recall the last time when Xiong Jingfei had a smile coming from her heart.

Then in a blink of an eye, it became only days before the wedding with Xie Donghai. He had promised to cover the cost of the wedding expense and does not care that the bride did not have any dowry. Even his servants came by daily to start cleaning and decorating the place for the wedding.

The groom side brought lavishes of wedding gifts for their daughter, Xiong Jingfei. It goes to show how much this Xie Donghai wanted her.

Truthfully, he wanted her the moment his eyes had seen her at the lantern festival years ago. Annoyingly, she was already engaged to Yang Zheyan. Plus he was not powerful enough to go against their family or even dare to ask her family for her hand.

Now, they cannot even criticize him when he arrived at their door with stacks and stacks of treasures. Xie Donghai chuckled with excitement as he couldn't wait for his bride to arrive.
