The layout of Sweet Smile Chamber was quite simple. It was a two-story building with two yards in front and behind. The backyard was where the girls lived, and the front yard was where they entertained customers.

Xiaocui rushed to the backyard, and strangely enough, she didn’t see anyone all the way.

Speaking of the dining room, it was actually a big s.p.a.ce separated with a board from the kitchen. The kitchen was inside and the dinning s.p.a.ce was outside.

It was breakfast-time and a number of girls had already gathered round a long, broad table. That was why the yard was empty. All of them were already here.

Giving them a quick glance, not even a close look, Ji Wujin already got hooked by the inviting aromas from the kitchen.

The overwhelming steam rushed into Ji Wujin’s stomach and her body became cheered up because it was the smell of steamed buns fresh out of the pot!

With years of experience in fighting over food, she made a quick decision right away. Ready! Run! Grab!

When she dashed to the pot and smiled cannily at the fresh food before her eyes, she was about to reach for it. Something abnormal happened!

A sudden wave of fragrant wind blew over. The sound of wind was exceptionally terrifying since she got hit and killed twice, both of which was alongside with it.

She looked back cautiously. However, before she rolled her eyes backward, a pile of colorful clothes leaped to her eyes.

In the blink of an eye, the pot, which had just been in front of her, was surrounded by those ferocious women.

They were hungry. They were starving. They were fighting over food like tigers, like wolves. They not only fought, they also yelled at one another, “You know the rule! First come, first served.”

“Hey! Stop pus.h.i.+ng me! You are squeezing my b.o.o.bs! b.i.t.c.h!”

“Ouch! Who is pulling my hair?! Alas! Are that two holes under your eyebrows?!”

“Give me two steamed buns, green vegetables. More vegetable! That’s far from enough!”

The lively scene scrambling for  food was too brutal. Even Ji Wujin, who would die for food before money, was too shocked to move a bit. She just stood there watching them fight.

What freaked her out was not only the fierce compet.i.tion for food but more of their faces.

One girl who succeeded in grabbing some food squeezed out, yelling, “Out of my way! Out of my way! Move! Hot porridge has no eyes!”

She made her way out from the crowds while yelling. Then Ji Wujin saw a tedious face in front of her.

Her eyes were wide open to the extreme and jaw was dropped. “She is…literally ugly!”

Then followed by the second one, the third, the fourth…

“Poof!” All of them were incredibly ugly.

Ji Wujin covered her mouth tightly and her face turned red because she was afraid that she might laugh her a.s.s off.

Was it really a brothel here? Were these really harlots?

Wasn’t a brothel supposed to be a heaven-like place to entertain men? How could they possibly have fun here? They were already lucky enough not to be scared to death.

While Ji Wujing was holding her laughter, the last and also the fiercest woman finally grabbed something to eat.

She looked at Ji Wujin with her little eyes, looking quite disgruntled, “Mama Jiao, see? We only have so little vegetables. It’s even not enough to fill the gap between my teeth...”

Ji Wujin’s mouth corner twitched, and thought to herself,  “Don’t talk nonsense. Look at your big buckteeth. You are putting vegetables in a very difficult position if you want to fill the gap between your teeth with it.’

“Oh really? Then the vegetable should be very tiny...”

Those girls by the table all giggled with pleasure and the bucktoothed girl snorted angrily and walked away holding the food in her hands.

Ji Wujin’s stomach rumbled.

Oh no! Ji Wujin even forgot to grab a bite when she was too enjoying watching those ugly girls fighting.

As she was about to march ahead, a shadow quickly pa.s.sed by. With a closer look, that person turned out to be Xiaocui.

She got squeezed out during the process of fighting for food. Now she finally got the opportunity to get closer to the food.

As she leaned forward, only once glimpse, her little face sank, tears instantly welled up.

“What’s wrong?” Ji Wujin followed with worries. It must be something bad happened since Xiaocui cried so sadly.

A girl who was smart enough to spot what was going on. She lingered her eyes on Ji Wujin and said loudly, “Xiaocui, you don’t have anything to eat today again, do you?”

All the girls who were focusing on eating raised their heads and looked at Ji Wujin in gloom at the same time when they heard the girl.

“…” Ji Wujin was apparently intimidated by their imposing manner.

Any of the girls alone was already ugly enough. Now dozens of them were looking over altogether all of sudden…Imagine that scene…No human language could describe it!

“Well…you…I mean…do you have a problem?”

It was their fault being so ugly. But at least they should learn to be as humble as Xiaocui at least, shouldn’t they? Being so arrogant now, who gave them the courage?

“Hm! Problem? How dare we have a problem? Mama Jiao feeds us every day. How do we have the guts?”

But why do you sound like you do?”

“Huh?”

The ugly girl didn’t know what to answer it. Why was Ji Wujin’s logic so different today?

A quick-witted ugly girl over the picked up the conversation, “Mama Jiao, I don’t have any problem either. But I do have something to report to you. Sanya asked me to give you a message that she often feels dizzy lately because she doesn’t eat much, and she needs to see a doctor. And she is not able to serve men these days….so…”

Right before she finished her sentence, another ugly girl immediately asked a sick leave too, “I do feel dizzy lately too. I also need to see a doctor. I am too starving and I hurt my fingers a few days ago when I did embroidery work. I am afraid that I am not in a good condition to entertain men today.”

Right after that, a large number of girls claimed that they were sick and couldn’t receive any guest.

Ji Wujin finally couldn’t bear with them. She pointed to those noisy girls, looking at Xiaocui, “Are they all harlots?”

Xiaocui nodded with eyes reddened.

“…”

Heaven, you must be kidding me again!

Taking a deep breath, she walked silently to the hearth.

There was only one steamed bun left in the pot.

She looked at Xiaocui with a thankful smile. Xiaocui saved the only steamed bun for her.

She then reached in the pot for it.

While she gave Xiaocui a grateful look, she stuffed it in her own mouth…

“Thank you so much.”

It would be no a big deal for a maid who ate well enough to spare a steamed bun for a starving beggar…

Ji Wujin faked a cough and looked away from Xiaocui who was crying with tears silently.

It went completely quiet suddenly. All their quarreling noise was gone.

Boohoo…

Xiaocui ran out, covering her tearful face.

The suddenly gone noise immediately came back again. All of sudden, these ugly girls who were behaving hideously became righteous, “What a cold heart she has! What a poor girl Xiaocui is!”

“She doesn’t deserve this after a hard work for her madam. Xiaocui might be the first one to die of hunger. None of us could escape from it…”

They got more and more angrier, and they even shed tears thinking of their dreadful fate.

Taking advantage they were talking, Ji Wujin swallowed the steamed bun in a whole quickly. She finally understood the situation here. These women were ugly and had a word of their lives. Judging from their complaints, Sweet Smile Chamber was so poor to starve people to death?!

However, what Ji Wujing was confused the most was how these ugly women made enough money to sustain such a big brothel. After all, it was a really fancy one.

When Ji Wujin was still trying to figure out why, she heard someone saying from behind, “Steamed buns again?”

Ji Wujin was astonished because the voice was quite extraordinary!
