"Aella, I have that list of n.o.bles that you wanted," said Firion walking up towards her.

The demons she had been talking to, scattered.

"How many n.o.ble families are there?" she asked.

"6 when you count Destov's house," he answered.

"Alright, tell me what each house does."

"Well, other than Destov's house, which you've placed in charge of taxes and money, the other houses aren't really in charge of any one thing. I've found where they were in charge of a variety of things ranging from the warehouses, trade, fire control, to health and housing, but it looks like all of that fell to the wayside. They pretty much just control those who live around them, and get to have a say in the businesses people run."

Aella thought about that for several minutes. If the n.o.bles were used to running their own little territories, like little kings, it was no wonder she was having so much trouble with them.

"Alright. Inform each of the houses that I want to meet with them over supper tonight. I'm sure they will have heard about my crazy plans to build an addition to the city, or something, so I will talk to them in person about their futures, so they feel like they have some control over it."

"Yes, Your Majesty," he said, bowing and turning with a grin.

Aella watched him go, wondering what his grin was about, and decided it could wait. Then she remembered that she wanted some of his a.s.sa.s.sins.

"Firion!" she called, stopping him at the door. "I want 20 of your a.s.sa.s.sins to take over to the build site, to oversee the construction. Have them here about lunch time with whatever they might need to live in the wilderness. The first thing that will need to be built, will be lodging for all of the workers I'm taking over today."

He c.o.c.ked his head to the side, thinking, then nodded and left. The workers in the hall around her had all paused at her words, glancing at each other uneasily. It would be interesting to see who all volunteered to go today.

Leaving everyone there, she headed back to the dining room. Those biscuits had tasted delicious and she wanted another. Edgar trailed behind her, still carrying her mug of tea. In the dining room, she found the rest of her advisors, all talking quietly about the things she had ordered the previous day.

"Your Majesty, will the children be remaining in the throne room for much longer?" asked Xathtak with a concerned look on her face. "They're causing quite a commotion with nothing to do."

"Has Josephine returned to tell me which estate she wishes to use for the orphanage, yet?" asked Aella, sitting in her chair and taking a drink from the mug Edgar set down.

"Not yet, Your Majesty," said Orolon. "I left her looking at the third one with the other human, Father Rice? They were discussing where they could put each group of children and how many workers they would need."

"Fair enough. As soon as she arrives-" Aella stopped talking as Josephine stepped into the room and looked over at her.

"Aella, I think the first estate will be the best. It's larger than the other two, so we would have plenty of room to grow," said Josephine walking over to the table and grabbing a couple of rolls.

"Good. Orolon will arrange for your workers and supplies. When do you think you can move the children into the estate?" asked Aella.

"I think it would be alright to go ahead and move them now, to get them out of your throne room, as long as Orolon can have food there in time for someone to prepare their lunch?" Josephine looked over at the white demon.

He nodded. "That won't be hard. Do you know how many workers you will need?"

"With so many kids, I will need at least a dozen. A cook or two, someone to clean the clothes, another to haul wood for the fires, someone to help make the beds and help with bathes," said Josephine, ticking off the things she would need people for on her fingers. "There will be plenty of work for all of them, and I'm sure some won't work out and will need to be replaced."

Orolon glanced at Aella and nodded in agreement, so she waved for him to go ahead. He left the room with Josephine, asking her what types of things she would need for the estate.

"Ernun, have the other two estates swapped over to public housing. People can live in it, as long as they don't tear up the interior. I want all of the people in the entire kingdom to be informed that they are to come here, to the palace, for relocation. It will be a bit before I am ready to take them all over, and they will need somewhere to live until then."

"Messages were sent out, but I will send second ones, along with runners to those who don't live in towns. If they have wings and can fly, they will be able to travel faster and further," said Ernun.

"Xathtak, a.s.sign more workers to cleaning up the streets. I don't want people getting sick because of the growing filth in my city. I know it's cold and wet, but it has to be done. We have a lot of people in the city already, and more will be coming. If sickness breaks out, we will be hard pressed to heal everyone."

"Yes, Your Majesty," she said, finis.h.i.+ng the last of her drink then left.

"Varnin, send word to all of our stationed military around the kingdom, that they are to report back at the capital in the spring. Any demons they find on the way are to be escorted."

"But Your Majesty, that will leave our borders unguarded!" she exclaimed in horror.

"Soon, we won't need them to guard our borders here. We will have new borders for them to find and guard. When we leave this land, the humans can have it," Aella said, standing with her last biscuit.

"Edgar, I will need a fancy supper for tonight. All of the n.o.ble leaders will be attending it. Make my lunch something simple, as I probably will be on the run and very busy."

"Yes, Your Majesty," he said, bowing.

"Destov, I'm having Firion notify all of the other n.o.bles, but I plan to have the n.o.bles be in charge of certain things in the new kingdom. They're far too used to running things without a king, and I plan to correct that."

He bowed, looking a little green around the edges.

Leaving the dining room, Aella teleported to the front hall and looked over the people who had gathered. They held backpacks stuffed full of things and wore heavy clothing, with thick cloaks.

"I'll take 4 at a time," she called out, making herself known to them.

They quieted down and turned to look at her.

"Once you are there, you will be directed to a location to set your stuff down. The Master Builders have only had about an hour to plan things, so there may not be much to do this first day. I imagine the first thing all of you will be in charge of, will be lodging for sleeping in. The winter months have not yet hit where I am taking you, so the ground is still soft enough to dig in. I will begin moving the materials in a couple hours, but I want all of you to grab some form of hand tool, whether it be a shovel or a pickaxe, is up to you. These will be your tools to be able to start working as soon as you are given orders."

They all spread out, grabbing shovels from the pile that had been gathered, and returned to their places. Once there were several ready, Aella started teleporting them in groups of 4. The Master Builders looked up at her, when she arrived with the first 4, with panicked expressions.

"Your Majesty! We're not ready for workers just yet!" cried Zack.

"There are far too many people for me to move, to hold off until you are ready," she said. "Have these workers move to a designated place and start them building the lodging for everyone to sleep in."

"We can do that, Your Majesty," he said, unhappily, motioning for one of his a.s.sistants to escort the new workers over to the side. "How many do you plan to send?"

"As many as I can," she said, teleporting away.

The next workers looked nervous, but she didn't hesitate to comfort any of them, just grabbed their arms and teleported them over. When she was done with the workers, she started on the piles of materials. She found very quickly that if she just touched it, and teleported, the amount she could managed would go along with her, without her having to actually pick it up.

The cloak was very proud of itself, cheering in her mind at how its abilities had grown far beyond what they used to be. The earrings chided it, telling it that the only reason any of their abilities had grown was because of Aella being blasted when she broke the crystal.

"Wait, what?" she asked, pausing what she was doing and having the workers around her turn to look at her in interest.
