'Oh, no! What's going on?' Ashley thought and hurriedly got away from Tanaga's hold, while her heartbeat loudly, *b.u.mp, b.u.mp, b.u.mp…* as if she was going to have a heart attack.

'Hey! Heart of mine, stop it. It was only an accident. Don't give a deeper meaning to it. Don't forget. He is our boss. We are not on the same level,' Ashley berated herself as her hand touched her chest again.

Meanwhile, Tanaga was shocked and couldn't move right away after the slight brus.h.i.+ng of their lips. But the feeling was more alike to tasting something delicious. His appet.i.te couldn't be satisfied without devouring that something wholly.

His face became sour when he realized it as if he just drank a gla.s.s of vinegar when Ashley slipped away from his arms.

Tanaga couldn't understand why Ashley was reacting this way whenever they were near. It felt as if he had a contagious disease that she was running away from him like a slippery eel, slithering away from his hold.

'I am handsome, young, with great stamina, and also a billionaire to boot. Even famous actresses vie for my attention, but here, with this girl, it's the opposite. I'm the one, stupidly vying for her attention. Geez, what's wrong with me, eh?' He sighed deeply and stood upright while staring with exasperation at the lady in front of him. 'What else do I need to do to make myself appealing to her?'

Tanaga's brows furrowed. He was totally puzzled with the real reason behind her actions. He was troubled with the thought that this would affect the mood when they begin lovemaking.

He was thinking of a way to improve their relations.h.i.+p and bring them closer together.

"Ashley, I have something to ask you. May I?" Tanaga softly said to Asley, who still couldn't look straight at Tanaga.

Ashley's head moved up after staring at her feet, "What is it, Sir?"

However, what Tanaga saw in front of him at that moment was a girl on the verge of crying. He couldn't hold his annoyance any longer and flared.

"What the heck is wrong with you, girl? Why do you act like I'm a monster or something, and is about to eat you alive? Get hold of yourself, alright?!"

Tanaga's yelling gave the opposite effect of what he wanted to have. Instead, the poor girl wailed out of fear.

The man gave up. He didn't know what else to do.

"What's wrong with us? We will not make any progress in our relations.h.i.+p if we continue like this. Come, sit here and I'll bring you a gla.s.s of water," said Tanaga, trying to speak softly to calm the girl.

As he was about to open the door, the eavesdropping butler came in.

"Sir, here's a gla.s.s of water," said the butler, extending the tray with drinks and snacks to Tanaga. The latter received it with a raised eyebrow because it occurred to him that the butler had been listening outside the door the whole time.

After handing over the tray with drinks and snacks, the butler excused himself right away and closed the door. But he immediately got into position, pressing his ear against the door to listen further.
