After he had told his sisters of some of his plans, Hei noticed that it was getting quite late.

"Well, I think it's about time to finish up for the day."

He used his Qi to send the message to the visitors, telling them to leave for the day and turned to his sisters waiting for them to take their leave.

However, they stayed where they were.

"Can we start the once a week thing today, Brother?"

"Ah."

Hei had almost forgotten that he agreed to let his sisters stay in his room once a week. And as he looked around the room, he wondered how he could have not been keenly aware of this.

He had no reason to refuse, so he agreed.

With that, Bai and Mei change into some new gowns they had purchased with their merit points. This was the first time they had changed clothing to sleep.

To Hei's surprise, they had each picked one for him as well and presented them to him, waiting for him to pick one.

Ordinarily, this wouldn't be a problem. But the gowns Bai and Mei chose were…

They were apparently the most popular varieties...

"Actually, I already have my own nightwear."

Hei changed into the pyjamas he had sewn himself.

After going around the sect with Jingfei, Hei notice that pyjamas weren't really a thing in this world.

In all his life so far, he had never changed clothes in order to sleep. This also wasn't something Shao Chen and Xiulan did.

After having come to the sect and obtaining several materials for crafting bedding and other textiles, he decided to fas.h.i.+on himself some pyjamas.

He originally wanted to recreate the pyjamas he had worn in his original life, but he found it reminded him too much of home.

Bai and Mei were fascinated by Hei's pyjamas. They hadn't seen any designs like this when they were purchasing their own gowns.

With sparkly eyes, they asked Hei if he could make them some, and he agreed.

Using the thread he had lying around in his storage s.p.a.ce, he created two pairs of white pyjamas for Bai and Mei.

To create the general shape of the clothing, he used his Qi to weave the threads together. He had had plenty of practice in doing things like this when he had formed structures out of his chains.

After he had created plain white clothes, he decided to embroider something special for each of them.

He used the teddy bears they had purchased as a model and so Bai had a white teddy bear on hers and Mei had a white teddy bear with red ears.

As he was sewing the bears onto the pyjamas, Hei couldn't help but think back to the times when his mother would teach him how to sew.

His mother had taught him many practical skills such as sewing and simple repair work.

As a result, Hei could create his own clothing given materials and tools. He could also handle any problems that came up with any home electronics or appliances.

She even had him dismantle and rea.s.semble many of the things in the house. She wanted to make sure he would be okay once he started living on his own.

Her husband wasn't too pleased with seeing the dishwasher broken into parts and being inoperable for several days. There were quite a few times where the appliances were broken beyond repair and he had to purchase new ones.

He tried to complain, but his wife always said she was teaching their son 'engineering'.

He didn't remember his wife having an engineering degree or anything of the sort.

What made it worse, was that they were easily able to afford the damages. So, he could only watch as his money went into their son's 'education'.

But over time, their boy really became proficient. He would routinely go through the house dismantling things checking for any issues and then rea.s.sembling them.

It got to the point that whenever there were any problems with his car, he went to his son before he went to the mechanic.

Thinking back to these times, Hei realised how much he missed home.

Bai and Mei could see this in his face.

They both hugged him and rea.s.sured him that he would be able to get home one day.

"There, there, Hei. I'm sure you'll be able to get back to your original world."

"Mm. I'm sure… you'll make it home, Brother."

These words held two very different meanings for Bai and Mei.

For Mei, she had both something to gain and something to lose. The loss of Kaner was also the gain of Hei. And even if Kaner were to stay, that wouldn't be all that bad either.

But for Bai, she had absolutely no connection to her real brother Hei, who was somewhere within the brother that she knew and loved.

These words were hard for her to say. She wanted her brother to be happy, but she also wanted him to stay. Unfortunately, these things seemed to be mutually exclusive.

Hei didn't fail to notice this.

Bai was placing his happiness above her own. But he was unable to do the same for her.

He felt she deserved a better brother than him, which was why he was going to put her on the throne of the world.

He placed his hand on her head and rubbed it.

"And before I go, we will have the most fun anyone has ever had."

Hei said this with a smile and a thumbs up.

Bai nodded her head, but he could tell that she was still a little sad.

"All right! Time for bed."

Hei scooped up his sisters one in each arm and jumped onto the bed.

He grabbed two pillows and turned to his sisters.

"There was a tradition in my world whenever people gathered to sleep together."

Bai and Mei were confused. They had never heard of this before.

Hei smiled mischievously.

"It was known as the pillow fight!"

Before Bai and Mei could react, there were already pillows in their faces.

"Brother!"

Bai was surprised by the sudden attack.

Without knowing it, she pulled out two pillows from her spatial ring and swung at her brother.

"Darli-"

Mei tried to complain, but there was another pillow in her face before she could finish her words.

"That does it!"

Mei also pulled out two pillows from her spatial ring.

Bai and Mei teamed up against Hei.

"Wait wait wait wait wait wait! This is supposed to be a free for all, not really a team sport okay? So-"

Hei tried to complain. Pillow fights weren't supposed to be two against one. It was supposed to be all against all.

Unfortunately for him, his sisters weren't interested in listening to his words as they attacked him before he could finish.

When he thought about, he realised he couldn't complain. He had been the one to launch the first attack and he had hit both of them. What else were they supposed to do?

He would make sure to tell them the proper way next time. But right now, he needed to focus on the offence.

He jumped up from the bed and spun once, swinging at both of his sisters horizontally.

Unfortunately for him, they were prepared this time and had blocked his attack.

As he fell back to the bed, he was greeted by four pillows attacking him from all sides.

"Pant. For your first time, you are quite skilled in the art of the pillow fight. Huff puff."

Hei fell to his knees, looking up to his sisters.

"This. Sigh. This is the end for me…"

Hei clutched his chest and squinted his eyes in pain before slowly tipping over and falling face down onto the bed.

With his last breath and tears leaking from his eyes, he uttered his final words.

"My… My brother will avenge me."

With that, Hei died.

Or so he pretended to do.

Unfortunately for him, Bai and Mei had not forgiven him quite yet. They continued to attack him with their pillows relentlessly.

"But… I already died. Why continue?"

"Dead men tell no tales, Brother."

"Ah."

Seeing that his sisters were still having fun pelting him with their pillows, Hei decided to take matters into his own hands.

"You fools! You have awakened the dreaded Sleepwalker Hei. There is no saving you now."

After saying these words, Hei activated his stealth ability. From his fingers inward, his entire body started to turn pitch black.

He discarded his pillows and went straight for his sisters' ankles. Grabbing each of them with his hands.

Before they could react, he pulled quickly causing them to lose balance.

As they fell, he shuffled up to their waists, grabbing them tightly.

"Those who have fallen into the hands of Sleepwalker Hei, will never see the light of day."

The girls were thras.h.i.+ng about trying to hit Hei with their pillows but nothing they did was able to stop him.

"Do you know what Sleepwalker Hei's favourite food is?"

At this point, all three of them were lying down on the bed. Hei was face down and Bai and Mei were faced up.

They both turned to him.

"What is it?"

"No matter what it is, we aren't afraid if you, Sleepwalker Hei."

Hearing this, Hei started laughing ominously.

"Oh? You aren't afraid are you? Then let me tell you. My favourite food…"

Hei released his sisters and stood up slowly, looking down at them.

"… Is stuffed animals!"

Hei then plunged his hands into the blanket his sisters had created and shoved it to his face, which didn't have any distinguishable features due to his stealth ability.

As the blanket made contact with the blackness, it was swallowed up and disappeared before the eyes of Bai and Mei.

"No!"

"This can't be!"

Hei chuckled before he responded.

"Oh, but it is."

He turned to the table where the three teddy bears were sitting.

"And they're next."

Hei lazily moved his body off the bed and started walking slowly towards the table.

As he walked, the girls could only watch in shock. They still hadn't gotten over the fact that the blanket was now gone.

It wasn't until he reached the table that they were able to snap out of it.

"No!"

They both reach their hands up and shouted at the same time.

But their words fell on deaf ears.

Hei proceeded to grab the two white teddy bears and brought them to his face, where they disappeared into the darkness.

He then went for the brown bear, but before he grabbed hold of it, something stopped his hand.

This wasn't Bai or Mei, it was something within him.

"What's the meaning of this!"

Seeing that he was hesitant, Bai and Mei took the chance to break through to their brother who was within.

"That's the one we chose for you, Brother!"

"That's right. Please remember, Hei!"

Hei grabbed his head in pain and groaned.

"Little Bai… Mei…"

After a while, his hands fell limply down to his sides.

Seeing this, Bai cautiously asked.

"Brother?"

She didn't get the response she was hoping for.

"Hehehe. Brother? Whose brother am I? I was born from the darkness."

He proceeded to grab the brown teddy bear and shoved into his face, where it disappeared without a trace.

Seeing this, something snapped within Bai and Mei.

They both stood up slowly from the bed and walked up to Hei, who was now taking steps back.

"What-what is this?"

Hei didn't have any facial features, but it was clear to see that he was shocked by his body language.

"Righteous Indignation, A Maidens Fury!"

Bai and Mei were releasing an intense aura as they slowly walked towards Hei.

They didn't pay him any mind as they both shouted:

"GIVE THEM BACK!"

Their palms started glowing as they stepped forward and struck Hei in the abdomen.

As their attack landed, the three teddy bears flew out of Hei and landed neatly in their seats.

That wasn't all.

Even the blanket he had swallowed earlier was ejected and landed on the bed.

"Caugh. To think you had mastered this technique. I underestimated you."

At this point, the blackness was being driven away and Hei's original colours were returning.

Before it faded completely, he issued them a warning.

"This isn't the last you'll see of me, Sisters Shao."

After those words, Hei was back to normal.

"Little Bai, Mei, I didn't mean to-"

Before he could finish his words, his legs gave way and he started to fall.

Bai and Mei hurried to catch their brother.

Hei reached his hands up and caressed each of their faces.

"My sisters. I had been possessed by The Sleepwalker when I went in search of an inheritance. I never meant to hurt you."

Hei's hands started to fall, but Bai and Mei grabbed one each.

"Brother, we never blamed you."

"That's right. It wasn't your fault. We should have realised it sooner."

Hei weekly shook his head.

"I don't want… you to blame yourselves. It was my own greed… that led to this. I just… want you to know… I… will always-"

At this moment, Hei's body grew limp.

"Brother! Brother!"

"Stay with us Hei! Please don't leave us like this!"

"Brother…"

"Hei…"

At this point, they realise their brother wasn't coming back.

With tears streaming down their faces, they carried their brother onto the bed, laying him to rest with the stuffed animals.

"This is what Brother would have wanted."

"Mm. I remember how much he loved the stuffed animals."

The girls both had solemn expressions as they look down to their brother who lay motionless.

But before they could grieve properly-

"Since when?!"

Hei flung open the blanket and grabbed his two sisters before pulling them into the bed.

They giggled.

"Alright, it's really time for bed this time."

Hei pulled the blanket back over them.

"Mm."

"Mm."

After a long day, the three snuggled up and went to sleep.
