Ning An's combat military instructor was called Song Xing. During cla.s.s, because Ning An was caught chatting with He Xin, he was honoured with being called up to act as a punching bag and teaching material for incorrect combat actions. By the time lunch arrived, his hands were bruised all over and his entire body was sore. This was the result even after Song Xing carefully controlled his strength.
“Student Ning An, you need to increase your training. With your current level, I can knock you down even without exerting any strength.”
Instructor Song kindly reminded him after cla.s.s, causing Ning An's face to scrunch up as though he ate a bitter gourd.
“I feel like I'm about to fall apart.” Unlike usual, Ning An only drank half of the nutrition pack before setting it to one side. He ma.s.saged the bruised area on his wrist. “Am I really that weak?”
You only just realised? The other three glanced at him and then silently continued to eat their lunch.
“No one is strong from the very start.” w.a.n.g Yi looked at Ning An's wilting appearance. He seemed like he didn't even intend to finish drinking the other half of his nutrition pack. Seeing this, w.a.n.g Yi still gave a few words of comfort based on the principles of solidarity and friends.h.i.+p. “It's not too late to start training from today onwards.”
“h.e.l.lo, how was cla.s.s today?” Derek was a little surprised when he saw the nutrition packs in front of Ning An and He Xin. “Are you guys only eating this?”
“This is pretty tasty ah. It's obviously liquid, but I can feel full after drinking it. It's really a wonderful invention.” He Xin wanted to try all the flavours of the nutrition packs.
“Indeed, it's a good invention.” Derek had once tried it before. Recalling it, he only felt that his tongue was in pain. He would only choose to drink a nutrition pack as a last resort and if it was absolutely necessary.
Ning An made a sour expression and drank the rest of the nutrition pack. Derek noticed the bruises on his wrists and commented, “It looks like your cla.s.s didn't go that well.”
“I was dragged up to be a punching bag.” Ning An drank some water to rinse out the residual taste in his mouth. “I'm really worried that every cla.s.s will be like this later on.”
“Maybe if you lie low and behave, the military instructor won't keep his eyes on you.” Chen Siyu's cla.s.s wasn't far from Ning An's, so he also saw everything that happened in their cla.s.s.
“But it might also be a good thing.” w.a.n.g Yi polished the last bit of food off his plate. In cla.s.s today, there were always several eager students following behind their instructor. w.a.n.g Yi still had quite a few combat moves that he wasn't sure if he executed accurately, but he didn't have the chance to ask. “You should seize this opportunity to let the military instructor give you a private lesson.”
“Student w.a.n.g Yi also doesn't sound very happy.” Derek directly sat down at their table. “Student w.a.n.g Yi is in Cla.s.s 1 right?”
His idol not only remember his name, but also knew which cla.s.s he was in! The little fire in w.a.n.g Yi's heart was extinguished. “Yes. It's just a trivial matter. I'll be better after I go do some more training at night.”
“Oh, that's right, you guys are coming to the training room tonight.” Derek's ate very fast, finis.h.i.+ng most of his meal while he talked. He was currently using a piece of bread to clean off the remaining sauce on his plate. “Hm, how come Fu Ke still hasn't come over?” Saying this, Derek looked around for Fu Ke.
Finding Fu Ke wasn't hard at all as he was always the centre of attention. Derek found him without much effort, but it seemed like his path was blocked by someone.
“Xu Yusheng.” w.a.n.g Yi instantly recognised the person blocking Fu Ke. He was the one who was constantly wrapped around their military instructor in cla.s.s today.
“Oh, the one with the best grades in the entrance exam?” Derek raised his eyebrow as he watched the two of them walk over to their side.
“What?” When Ning An and He Xin heard Derek's words, they both looked towards Chen Siyu and w.a.n.g Yi. One was well informed while the other was in the same cla.s.s as Xu Yusheng. They should know something.
“En”. The two nodded at the same time. w.a.n.g Yi said, “The military instructor mentioned it.” Chen Siyu quickly added on to this. “w.a.n.g Yi came second.”
“Oh–” The other two whose grades were practically at rock bottom simultaneously revealed a shocked expression. Their eyes also looked at their roommate with more admiration.
“h.e.l.lo.” Xu Yusheng had already walked over. He greeted everyone at the table with a smile, but his gaze never landed on Ning An, He Xin or Chen Siyu. He indifferently glanced at w.a.n.g Yi and then focused all his attention on Derek. “I'm Xu Yusheng. How about we add each other as friends on our terminals?”
Ning An saw that Derek didn't understand Xu Yusheng's intentions, so he pulled He Xin, nodded towards Derek and Fu Ke, and then left. “We'll head back first.”
“Then I also won't bother you anymore.” From the first meeting, Chen Siyu didn't like Xu Yusheng. Although he was smiling, Chen Siyu always felt that this smile was too fake. w.a.n.g Yi also felt that something was wrong, so he nodded at them and also left carrying his plate.
“Derek Liszt.” Derek accepted Xu Yusheng's friend request, but unexpectedly didn't intend to chat more. He smiled uncomfortably and indicated his empty plate to Xu Yusheng. “I'm also heading back. Talk to you later.”
“Do they all dislike me or something?” Xu Yusheng helplessly shrugged and smiled at Fu Ke. “Student Fu, let's eat together?”
“I'll just drink a nutrition pack.” Saying this, Fu Ke nevertheless sat down in front of Xu Yusheng. “Perhaps you're thinking too much. They usually don't act like this.”
Although he couldn't be considered familiar with Ning An and his friends, but he knew Derek very well. Seeing that the person who would always chat with people had this kind of reaction, it was quite abnormal. “Maybe they're too tired from the morning cla.s.s.”
“Could be, after all, they are crane tails. It may be difficult for them to keep up with the pace of learning.” Xu Yusheng smiled, the ridicule in his tone was obvious.
‘Crane tail'. Hearing this t.i.tle, Fu Ke frowned. “What do you mean?”
“Student Fu doesn't know?” Xu Yusheng's surprise was fleeting. “Well, that's to be expected. Student Fu is always looking ahead, you wouldn't pay attention to this kind of thing. Our cla.s.ses are divided according to our entrance exam results. Cla.s.s 6 is naturally full of crane tails.”
Fu Ke finished drinking his nutrition pack. He didn't have anything to say, seeming to want Xu Yusheng to continue talking.
“Life is full of compet.i.tion. There's no need to be acquainted with those who fall behind at the starting line. In any case, they will all be eliminated in the end.” Xu Yusheng momentarily didn't control his strength. The knife in his hand scratched across his plate, producing a harsh screeching sound. “Oh, sorry.”
“However, Student Fu and Student Liszt are not the same. You've already won at the starting line, and have also kept moving forward. We're more like the same type of people. Birds of a feather flock together, isn't that right?” Xu Yusheng then carefully controlled his strength, quickly and efficiently finis.h.i.+ng the steak on his plate. “There's also the old saying; those who handle cinnabar are stained red, those who work with ink are stained black. I think Student Fu should remind Student Liszt.”
“Thank you Student Xu for your reminder, but I think I am well aware of this matter.” Xu Yusheng gave Fu Ke the feeling that he was just showing off and also had a sharp tongue. He neither liked nor disliked him, but just felt that it was best he didn't become more acquainted with him.
“I think our views are a little different, but it's good to be able to understand Student Xu's thoughts.” Fu Ke glanced at the unread message on his terminal. “I'll get going first. Goodbye.”
Xu Yusheng watched Fu Ke leave and faintly sighed. Forget it, there's no need to rush. There's still plenty of opportunities to talk with him in the future.
The unread messages in Fu Ke's terminal were filled with push notifications from news subscriptions and trash talk from Fu Yue. Above all that was Derek's new message asking him when he was returning to the dorms. Fu Ke replied, [I'll be back soon.]
Fu Ke then stared blankly at the message bar, seeming like he was looking forward to a new message to pop up. But the fact was there wasn't any. Fu Ke was a little disappointed, but he didn't understand what he was expecting, or what he was disappointed at.
In the end, Derek's urging message popped up again. Fu Ke directly selected ‘Delete' without replying.
Forget it. Let's head back, otherwise Derek will definitely keep urging him until he shuts down his terminal.
