Outside of the Davis family house...

"So this is where they live. It's such a pretty house." Beatrice sat in her car as she stared at the closed gates. She already imagined herself in there serving Quincy's family as the granddaughter-in-law, Mrs. Beatrice Davis.

She snapped out of it when she saw the gates open, and a car driving out. Inside of it, she spotted an elder woman who she guessed to be Granny Davis. She stepped on the gas and followed the car at a distance.

Both cars arrived outside of a big crowded market. Two older women stepped out of the car Beatrice tailed. She could see that one of them looked similar to Quincy, so she nailed her target. The first stall the women stopped at was the fish stall. They negotiated with the owner and got two boxes each of catfish, tilapia, and croaker.

Beatrice was about to pa.s.s out from the smell. She had been pampered her whole life, and being at this stinky market made her feel dirty. She tried blending into the crowd but kept getting hit as she knocked into pa.s.sersby. She learned a tough lesson by the end of the day: Always have a spare set of flat shoes with you when you have heels on.

The older ladies were on the move, frequently stopping at different stalls that caught their attention. Unknown to Beatrice, they had noticed her on their tails minutes after her car followed them. They had no idea who it was, but they were going to find out soon.

After walking around for 2 hours, the women found a coffee shop to revitalize. Beatrice breath a sigh of relief. Her legs were killing her, and she was sweaty underneath her huge coat. She needed a shower ASAP.

To figure out Beatrice's real purpose, the two women made a plan. Alice stood up and walked to the bathroom. As expected, Beatrice followed after. Both women stood at the basin as they washed their hands. Alice headed out first and pretended to slip. Thankfully, Beatrice held her up just in time.

In Beatrice's mind: What a coincidence. Now that I've helped her once, she'll owe me a favor, and I can request an engagement with Quincy. It's just like it is in romance novels.

Never in Beatrice's wildest dreams did she think she was the antagonist. She placed herself in the lead role and saw Seraphina as an eyesore that stole Quincy from her.

Delusional!

Beatrice helped Alice all the way to her table and nodded politely at the other woman.

"Are you okay ma'am?" She asked.

"How could you be so careless Alice? Is your leg okay?" The other woman asked also.

"It's alright. This young lady supported me in time. Thank you very much."

"No problem. I couldn't watch you fall," she said, proud of herself for being a hero.

"True. What is your name young lady?"

"I am Beatrice, Beatrice Walters."

"What a beautiful name," Alice complimented.

"It sure is," the other woman agreed.

"You look like a cla.s.smate of mine. Do you know a Quincy Davis?"

So that's why she followed us, both women thought giving each other a look.

"Oh my! That's her grandson. Do you know Quincy?" The other woman replied this time.

"Yes. He was my cla.s.smate, but we lost touch after he moved. It's such a coincidence meeting his grandmother here. This must be fate," Beatrice recited with a happy voice.

What bullsh*t fate was she talking about?

Janet looked at the excited Beatrice and shook her head.

"I have to help Summer get rid of this weed before it gains firm root," she thought to herself.

"Hi granny Davis," Beatrice said.

"What a good girl. It's nice meeting one of Quincy's cla.s.smates. He hardly talks about anybody from school." Alice laughed awkwardly looking at Beatrice's smile retract.

"You want my grandson? Don't even think about it."
