"Just put a drop of your blood on the ring and you'll know," Black replied.
"Blood?" Now, where did blood come from?
"Yeah."
"But it'll hurt..." I protested.
"It won't," He said and a needle appeared in his right hand. He held my left hand and stared at it. He only started for a moment and then the needle in his hand disappeared.
"Drop it on the ring."
Drop what? As I was thinking about it, blood started oozing out from my middle finger. Too fast! I didn't even realize when he p.r.i.c.ked me.
Even though I didn't want to stain that ring, I did as he asked me to. It looked like some custom from the world of angels. I will surely clean it properly later. I smeared a small drop of my blood over the ring that was on my finger. Upon coming in contact with blood, the ring emitted a faint silvery light and the blood started to disappear. It appeared like the ring was swallowing my blood.
"What's happening?"
"Wait for it."
After the whole drop of blood disappeared, red coloured strange symbols appeared on the surface of the ring and shone brightly for a moment before they disappeared. The ring regained its original metallic silver appearance as if everything that happened before was an illusion.
"Now the next step might be hard. I dunno exactly but close your eyes and ... Think of going inside the ring."
I closed my eyes and I could feel the ring in my hand. I paid all of my attention to it and thought about going inside the ring as he asked me to. Suddenly, there was darkness in front of my eyes and I felt like some gate had opened or like I've crossed some invisible barrier.
Darkness was still present everywhere but I had a weird feeling that I could see everything in that darkness. I felt omniscient. There were a bunch of books and a lot of different food dishes floating in that s.p.a.ce. I picked a floating apple and it felt so real.
"Eve," I heard Black call my name. It was a very weird sensation as if I was sleeping and Black was trying to wake me up.
When I opened my eyes, I was still in my backyard kneeling along with Black.
"I didn't think you'd be successful in the first try. I was so anxious thinking about how to explain it to you."
"What the h.e.l.l was that?" I exclaimed.
He laughed upon my reaction but then he explained. "Do you remember s.p.a.ce zero?"
"Yeah... It's a world you created?"
"Yes! That world. Well, I created a gate to that world in the ring. You can use the ring to access it anywhere, anytime. It belongs to you too now..."
When I lowered my head to look at that ordinary looking ring, I saw an apple in my hand. It was the same apple I picked up in that strange place.
"Though you can only keep things in that s.p.a.ce or take them out. You can't change the rules of that world... Yet..." Black continued explaining.
He picked up the apple from my hand and started eating it. It was then when I saw the exact silver ring in his hand.
"I created for myself too."
