Along the journey, Yang Xinyi gave Ye Xiong a brief introduction about the people he would meet later.

Other than meeting her father, Yang Dingguo and her mother, Zhang Lizhen, he would be meeting her aunt and uncle as well.

Her Aunt was Yang Yueru. She was the founder of a certain company in the capital city of China and her net worth was in the billions. On the other hand, her uncle, Tang Jianjun was a top-cla.s.s official and had a rather strong influence there. This couple, one a merchant and the other an officer, while not invincible, were still people no ordinary person could mess with. They had given birth to a daughter; the stupid Tang Ning.

"Aunt has doted on me since I was young and is easy to talk to, but uncle is no ordinary man. He's a soldier and is used to being in the upper ranks. He's very intimidating and will never change his mind. When you're talking to me, please don't act smart and don't even think about debating with him. Do you hear me?" Yang Xinyi ordered him solemnly.

"I know what to do."

As the two entered the restaurant's private room, they ordered the dishes and waited for the rest to arrive.

The first to arrive were Yang Xinyi's parents, Yang Dingguo and Zhao Lizhen. The two immediately laid their eyes on Ye Xiong as they entered. It was so obvious that they were a.n.a.lyzing him with their gazes.

Yang Dingguo was roughly fifty years old. He was wearing a pair of spectacles, kept a beard and his hair was all white. He looked intimidating even though he was not angry, and one could tell immediately that he was a businessman.

Beside him was Zhao Lizhen. Although she was close to fifty years old, she looked incredibly young and youthful. She had taken very good care of herself as she looked like she had just reached forty years old.

The two did not look like husband and wife at all. In fact, Zhao Lizhen looked like Yang Dingguo's mistress.

"Father, mother, you've arrived." Yang Xinyi stood up immediately. Seeing that Ye Xiong was still daydreaming, she hastily kicked him under the table.

It was only then that Ye Xiong stood up and said embarra.s.singly, "Father, Mother, please have a seat."

It was incredibly awkward to call some strangers father and mother!

It was Yang Dingguo and Zhao Lizhen's first time meeting Ye Xiong. They felt rather delighted as Ye Xiong was well presented and incredibly polite.

Ye Xiong muttered repeatedly in his mouth, but he put on a smile. "Yes, I'm Ye Xiong. I'm Xinyi's husband."

"I heard that you're now the General Manager of Feiyang International Hotel. How is it going?" Yang Dingguo asked.

"It's alright, pretty average," Ye Xiong replied.

"What's your monthly salary? Is it at least five hundred thousand bucks?" Yang Dingguo continued asking.

"I don't know my monthly salary at the moment."

Ye Xiong was not a salaryman as his income would depend on the hotel's revenue. If the hotel was not generating any profit, he would not receive a single dollar at all. On the other hand, if the hotel were to generate a huge profit, the profit would be equally split between Du Yuehua and Ye Xiong. Hence, he truly could not answer Yang Dingguo's question when the latter asked him for his monthly salary.

"You're a General Manager and you don't even know your own salary? Are you working for free?" Yang Dingguo harrumphed as he gave him a discriminatory look.

Ye Xiong was holding in at first, but he could no longer hold it in as he was laughed at and looked down upon again and again. He would be seen as an easy target to be bullied.

"Chairman Yang, allow me to ask you then. What's your current monthly salary?" Ye Xiong had even changed how he addressed Yang Dingguo as he was angered.

"Is this how you're supposed to talk to me?" Yang Dingguo was angered. "I'm the Chairman of Yangs.h.i.+ Group. That's my own company, do I need to even receive a salary?"

"What I'm earning is Feiyang International Hotel's profit. Isn't it the same when you ask for my monthly salary?" Ye Xiong rolled his eyes and gave Yang Dingguo a rude response.

He had never lowered his head to anyone in his entire life. He would fight back even if it was Yang Dingguo. It would be weird if he was able to hold it in.

"Ye Xiong, how could you speak like that to father?" Yang Xinyi did not expect Ye Xiong to be this agitated. She immediately kicked him a few times under the table as she told him to behave.

"You've just married my daughter and you're talking to me in this manner. In a year or two, you might possibly just take over my entire Xinyi Group." Yang Dingguo's expression changed for the worse as he looked at his own daughter and harrumphed. "I've raised you, provided you with the best education, and even handed over the Group to you. Who would've thought that you would rather pick a construction worker as your husband instead of a potential good son-in-law, He Haodong? Are you blind or what?"

"Don't a.s.sume that I don't know what you're up to. For a construction worker to become the General Manager of Feiyang International Hotel, you must have done something shady, right?"

"A worthless person is a worthless person. Do you think he'll be able to do his job well just because you've given him a high position?"

Yang Dingguo harrumphed as the contemptuous look on his face grew worse.

Ye Xiong smiled ever so cunningly as he listened to every word.

Phoenix would be incredibly shocked if she was here because Ye Xiong was at his peak anger whenever he made that smile.

"Mr. Yang Dingguo…"

Ye Xiong went from calling him father to Chairman Yang and was now using his name. This was a sign that Ye Xiong's anger had been increasing slowly.

Ye Xiong had never been this humiliated in his life, even the Chief of Huaxia was polite when he wanted Ye Xiong back. Here, there was a clown, his fake father-in-law, who kept humiliating him. If he were to not fight back, his father-in-law would really think his worth was equivalent to a persimmon in the market.

It was then that he stood up and said loudly. 

"Twenty-three years ago, Xinyi Group was known as Yuanshan Group before its name was changed by Mr. Yang Yuanshan. The group was valued at roughly two billion bucks then. Twenty years have pa.s.sed, the price of cabbage has risen from fifty cents to four bucks per 0.6 kg. A piece of candy's price has risen from five cents to fifty cents. On the other hand, after twenty years, Yuanshan Group has risen from two billion to three billion in Mr. Yang Dingguo's hands. You've managed to increase the value of the company by merely one billion in twenty years. Mr. Yang Dingguo is truly a capable man!"

Yang Dingguo slammed the table and stood up. His face was incredibly red as he pointed at Ye Xiong with a trembling finger.

"You… you… you…"

"What's wrong? Did I say something wrong?" Ye Xiong smiled coldly.

Yang Dingguo's greatest failure in life was to not invest in the futures market. However, he was not entirely useless as well since he was able to go through the great depression. He was considered capable for surviving that. However, this was a wound in his heart, and no one dared to speak of it directly in front of him. Who would have thought that Ye Xiong would immediately say such a thing the moment he opened his mouth.

Yang Xinyi did not expect Ye Xiong's response to be this sharp. Ye Xiong was able to corner her own father so greatly. Hence, she kept kicking him under the table as she reminded him to calm down.

"Why are you kicking me? Did I say something wrong?" Ye Xiong ignored her as his expression was incredibly cold. He continued. "I know you respect your father very much, but you must have a limit. You'll do whatever he wants you to do and you seem to not have an opinion about it. If he wants you to marry a sixty-year-old man, are you going to marry him then?"

Yang Xinyi was incredibly angry and kept staring at him as Ye Xiong scolded her.

It was just an act but was it necessary to be this realistic?

Truthfully, she was delighted at Ye Xiong's scolding to her father. She wanted to comment about her father's att.i.tude for a long time, but she did not dare to do so because he was her father.

"Xinyi, the man you've chosen lacks cla.s.s. I've decided that you two shouldn't be together. Divorce him now or don't blame me for disowning you." Yang Dingguo was incredibly furious.
