He stood inside his room while gazing at the n.o.ble's street direction with a motionless face.
'Hmm, now there is no work for me here. I don't think Baron Harry will go back on his word. But I want to see how he is going to fulfill the promise.' His lips curved upward and watched the midnight red star hanging in the northern sky.
…
March 6th morning at 9 A.M, Moondale town's town square.
There were almost thousands of commoners who stood there with nervousness while deeply thinking about the sudden announcement.
"Is lord Harry going to raise land tax?" Mason asked Rody with a puzzled expression. Just now, both of them returned from their duty, and soon they saw the whole town was standing there at the town square.
"He just raised the 2 percent extra tax a few months ago right. Let's go and ask others." Rody said while moving from the eastern gate to the town square, which was visible a few hundred meters away.
Soon, Mason saw two tall figures standing in the crowd and startled.
"Hey, Aren't they Page and Glover?" Mason asked with a surprised tone while arriving near the crown.
"Indeed. Did Lord Harry release them out of pity? Well, it's our Lord, after all. Not even Elder Randolph could predict what Lord Harry is thinking." Rody said with a chuckle and soon mingled into the crowd. Soon, both of them arrived near to Glover and Page, and Mason said with a grin.
"We thought both of you guys escaped with money that Baron Abium gave for ransom."
"Well, we didn't. The whole town will know the truth soon." Glover responded while glancing back at both of them and s.h.i.+fted his gaze towards the town square. There, Baron Harry stood with a solemn expression on his face and glancing back at all the peoples. Near to him were a few guards wearing black lined leather armor stood with a firm expression. They were his personal guards, and their only job was to protect their Lord with their life on the line. It was Elder Randolph who taught them.
"Thank you for gathering here, my citizens. I'm here to tell you all about the incident which happened recently. It's about the soldiers of Baron Abium." Baron Harry's firm resolved words shocked many people. Moreover, they never heard their Lord's polite tone before, which made everyone stunned for a while. Meanwhile, Baron Harry organized his thoughts and started to speak.
"If I had stopped my family members from doing cruel things to those Baron Abium's soldiers, those six soldiers wouldn't have died a few days ago. It was my mistake for not stopping them, and I'm solely responsible for their lives. I feel ashamed that it was my own father who killed those soldiers even when Baron Abium sends two thousand gold coins for ransom." He said with a regretting tone which made the whole area to be filled in dead silence.
Not a single soul made a noise after they heard those words. Everyone knew there was the friction that happened between Baron Harry and Baron Abium a month ago. They didn't forget the day when Baron Harry ordered everyone not to set foot on Baron Abium's territory. Now, he was speaking with a hurtful tone made everyone speechless.
Baron Harry knew what peoples were thinking and continued to speak.
"I know Baron Abium must be furious after knowing that my father killed his soldiers. I don't have the strength to execute my father for his crime. So, I will bear the responsibility and present my right arm to him as an apology." Baron Harry finished his words with a quivering voice and instantly unsheathed his short sword from his waist.
"No!" "Lord! Don't punish yourself!" "Protect our Lord!"…
Suddenly, panic cries echoed inside the town square while soldiers who stood a few meters away from him dashed towards his direction to stop him from doing something reckless.
"It's okay. I must bear responsibility for my father's action." Baron Harry said with a sad smile on his face and instantly slashed his sword using his left hand with full force. In a flash, that sharp blade made a cold light and cut through his flesh and bones where the elbow was located.
Blood splatted on Harry's face, and he felt immeasurable pain from his right hand. He felt his head began to dizzy due to the pain and soon found himself surrounded by multiple soldiers.
At the same time, Page, Mason, Glover, Rody and other thousands of peoples who stood on the town square was shocked beyond words and quickly cried out in panic.
Harry felt his thoughts became clouded, and quickly he tapped his ring then took out a vial. Inside it was a low tier healing potion! Without hesitation, he poured it on the sliced area and stopped the blood oozing out from the blood vessels. After a few seconds, Harry stood there in a daze and soon picked up the sliced arm from the ground and s.h.i.+fted his gaze to Page, who already arrived a few meters away from him.
"Soldier, send my hand to Baron Abium's territory. Tell the people and their family that I truly sorry for their loss." He said and soon walked near to four of them.
"Yes, my lord." Page said with a firm tone and almost cried inside his heart. Who wouldn't cry if a lord cut his own hand for the mistake his father had done?
Soon, everyone dispersed in different directions with sorrowful faces while Page, Mason, Glover, and Rody walked towards Frozen mountain range with a hand stored in an icebox.
Of course, their destination was Alastall woodland's Amara town.
Although the Moondale town returned to normal, everyone felt sad inside. Moreover, people started to hate Baron Harry's father and the family members who involved in the ploy. At the same time, there was an immeasurable sense of pride arouse. They now could proudly boast that their Lord was a brave man who sacrificed his own hand to seek forgiveness for his family members' mistake.
…
Meanwhile, inside the four-storied mansion, Harry's room.
Harry stood with a bitter smile on his face while glancing at his right hand. Today, he lost something precious to him. But because of that, Harry saved his father's life. If he chose his arm instead of his father's life, he wouldn't forgive himself for the rest of his life.
'It's all good now. All that left is to execute the ones involved in the ploy. Hmm, it will take at least a month or two for them to return from the capital.' Harry sighed inwardly and soon noticed a figure standing around the corner of his room with a red mask on his face.
"I didn't expect you would cut your arm without even flinching." Abium walked out from the dark shadows while speaking with a cold smile under the mask.
"If I didn't cut my hand, you would have done that without others noticing, right?" Harry said while looking at him with a helpless smile on his face.
"Well, yeah. Anyway, give some protection when my carriage comes through the tunnel. Another person will be traveling to the capital to attend the grand n.o.ble gathering in my stead. Don't make any unnecessary trouble for her." Abium said and instantly disappeared from there before could Harry nod his head.
"Ha, now I look like a servant." Said Harry bitterly, while removing his coat and slowly sat on the chair near to the bed.
Meanwhile, Abium didn't want to waste his time any longer in the Moondale town, and he quickly brought a horse from the shop for two white golds. Without minding others' weird gazes, he climbed on the brown horse and rode out of the Moondale town.
…
After Abium went out of this Moondale town, a black-haired male rode on a white horse, arrived in front of the gate, and started asking about what had happened here. He wore normal adventurers' clothing, and his eyes were deep blue, which gave off a n.o.ble aura. He was none other than Nicolaus.
After he separated from Fennelis and Umi, he directly went to Bare Keep town and told what had happened to his father, Baron Tibbott. But once noticed his father didn't believe his words, he just kept his mouth shut and calmly started gathering information about what had happened in his absence. He learned the king was a.s.sa.s.sinated just a few days before and also received a piece of news that an elf became a Baron.
Instantly, he became startled and finally found out that guy really was Abium. At first, he thought of contacting him, soon rejected that idea. But after a few days, he received a letter from Fennelis that made him more startled. Those two had met with some trouble, and the unknown enemy appears to be more formidable. Although Nicolaus was already a fifth tier warrior, he knew he was not that much strong as Fennelis or Umi.
So, without hesitation, he left Bare Keep town and now arrived at Moondale town. After purchasing rations from the shops, he quickly rode his horse towards the vast mountain range.
Soon, the same day evening, Nicolaus arrived at the entrance of the Amara town while following the footsteps of a few horses which went ahead of him.
Once he entered the town, he met with a blonde-haired Helena and started explaining his relation with Abium to her. How he and Abium met inside Bare keep town, and finally, Helena told about where Abium went.
As Nicolaus heard that news, his expression worsened.
'He went to capital already? Ha! I have no other choice then.' He bitterly smiled and left Amara town without staying for the night.
'I have to find him and tell him about their situation.'
…
Meanwhile, Abium didn't waste his time anywhere in between the travel and only stopped for rest. On 10th March, morning around eight 'o'clock, Abium finally arrived at the entrance of the Royal capital Dewsummit city. He wore an ordinary black linen s.h.i.+rt and pants like commoners, which made him look like an ordinary citizen.
After paying the right amount to the gatekeeper, he walked inside the city along with the horse. Moreover, Now his face almost looked like his original self with black hair and deep blue eyes. He used disguise spell on him continuously to maintain this facial appearance until entering the city gate.
'If I am walking around wearing that red mask, I will stand out too much and catch unwanted attention form many peoples. Hmm, I can't go to Baron Auguinare's mansion. I have to buy a small house in the Commoner's Borough and make a fake ident.i.ty. But before that, I must meet Lady Tabitha and get one facial-changing artifact.' Abium remembered prince Raollet's other ident.i.ty Hemarc and thought of following the same method.
'Also, I have to attract some of those second-tier mages' attention. If possible, I must do something unbelievable and make those second-tier mages, including teacher Zivior and Tabitha, to acknowledge me. Hmm, first, I will tell some information about that apprentice necromancer to Lady Tabitha, and I will start my plan.'
'I knew someone from the academy must have already started to search about those necromancers, and my future actions against those necromancers would definitely catch their attention. Ha! First, I have to take action step by step. Also, I need to find a remote place and construct my next first-tier spell after a week or two. If I construct my next spell somewhere near to the capital, many roaming mages will definitely notice my presence. Moreover, that hooded elven guy would also find out about me, and that is the last thing I want to happen.' Abium frowned as he started to search for a suitable location to construct his next first-tier spell, and soon his amber eyes widened.
'There is one place which is just a half-day away from the capital. But the problem is, those rumors I heard multiple times in the past life. That Creepers' forest is a mysterious place, and it is suitable for creating my next spell model. I heard whoever went inside would come back after a few days, but they won't remember anything except some emerald gem embedded coin. But I heard there are a few roaming mages used that place to construct their spell model in the past.' Abium instantly made up his mind and soon noticed he arrived near to the Inn, which located in the main street.
He quickly tied the mount near to an Inn while paying some amount to the inn owner, Abium started walking towards the Merchant's Borough. After a few minutes later, he arrived in front of the Orchid auction house and started to walk inside while forgetting his current appearance.
Before he could take two steps, a spearhead appeared in front of his face while a muscular warrior stood there, blocking his path with a cold expression on his face. He had dark brown hair, blue eyes, and fair skin. From his outer look, Abium guessed this guy must be around 35 years old.
'Heh, a fourth tier warrior!' He was surprised a little.
"This is not a place a commoner could step in. Leave before anyone sees you." That warrior's tone was cold, unlike the last time he made Abium's expression to stunned a bit. Only then, Abium realized his face was completely changed due to disguise spell, and he instantly took out his n.o.ble seal from his spatial ring then present it to him.
At first, that muscular warrior didn't think much and was about to shout, then suddenly he was the firebird n.o.ble seal and froze. Although he couldn't remember which household had this seal, he didn't dare to take lightly. Instantly that warrior pulled back his spear and thought this kid must be a servant of some n.o.ble house.
"Sorry for my rude words earlier, lad. You should have shown that seal beforehand." Brown-haired muscular warrior said with a chuckle.
Meanwhile, Abium was little loss for how to respond and soon said with a sigh.
"It was my mistake, mister."
While giving a slight bow towards that warrior, Abium walked inside to that Orchid auction house.
After a few minutes, he finally managed to get an appointment with lady Tabitha using his n.o.ble seal and waited in the reception room.
After a full hour of waiting, finally, an officer with round eyegla.s.s invited him to meet Lady Tabitha.
Abium quickly followed that officer's footsteps, and they moved upwards in the stairs.
Soon, both Abium and that officer arrived in front of a wooden door, and that officer knocked it thrice.
"Come in!" A pleasant voice echoed from inside, and soon Abium and that officer walked inside. There, an older woman with silvery hair sat on an executive chair and looking at Abium with keen interest.
"Sit down, mister," Tabitha said with a warm smile on her face while pointing her finger at the wooden chair. Soon she s.h.i.+fted her monolid blue eyes towards that officer and said, "You can go back now. I will call you later."
With a puzzled look, that officer left the room, leaving the office to an abrupt silence. At the same time, Abium dispelled his zero tier magic spell and sat on the chair.
"What are you doing here, Mage Abium? It seems you are hiding your ident.i.ty." Tabitha returned her gaze towards him and asked with the same smile on her face.
"Yes, my lady. I want an artifact which is similar to what prince Raollet is using. Can you arrange it for me?" Abium asked with a soft smile.
"Hmm, are you talking about nature artifact? That's quite a rare artifact Mage Abium. You won't find it here." Tabitha said with a disappointment while shaking her head.
"Well, I already expected this result. Still, it would be easier if I got that," Abium said with a sigh while taking out the rainbow plant room then placed it on the table.
"Are you auctioning this?" Tabitha asked without showing any surprised expression on her face.
"Yes, my lady. It won't be useful to me anyway." He said and thought of something then asked curiously, "Did you succeed in extracting the dragon's blood essence, My lady?"
"Well, with your teacher's help, I did manage to extract a drop of bronze dragon's blood essence. But I don't have a potion formula for absorbing that essence into my body." She said with a bitter smile.

As she soon noticed his puzzlement expression, she chuckled and started explaining, "From the looks on your face, I can see you are clueless about this. I will tell you."
"Do you know about the shackles placed on us, right?" She asked while picking up the rainbow room with her right hand.
"Yes, my lady." Abium nodded.
"But do you know who put those shackles on all of us?" Tabitha continued to ask with a smile on her face while Abium left clueless and asked Azolla in a hurry.
'Azolla, do you have any clue?'
'I don't know kid, but there were no shackles during the ancient era. It happened at the end of the ancient war. At that time, even the mother G.o.ddess was deeply injured and secluded herself inside the world tree. The whole continent split into two by an unknown G.o.d and separated most of the humans, elves, dwarfs, fairies, etc., to this mainland. Also, I don't remember most of the events.' Her words left Abium to be stunned inside.
'Are there really no shackles before that ancient war?! Then who put these bloodline shackles on us?' Abium felt there was a deep secret hiding in these and quickly asked.
"Who put those shackles on us then?"
"There are many elves who denied this news. But light church informed the ma.s.ses that it was a legendary mage from the ancient era who put those shackles on us. His name is Runeth." Tabitha said with a sigh on her face while Abium expression froze.
