"Wow, to think we'll be doing our exams soon," Ethan said as he stared out of the cla.s.sroom window whilst everyone left around him.
"Can you hurry up?" Owen said dancing around. "I can't stand still, I need to leave."
"Silence…" Ethan replied like someone who had reached enlightenment. "I am thinking about it all…"
"I'm trying really hard not to throw you out of that window."
"Shush… do you feel that?" In line with Ethan's words of wisdom, a large gust of wind blew everyone as they were leaving through the school gate, with Ethan looking down on them like a G.o.d.
"Stop being an idiot," Owen said throwing his bag at him. "I already want to kill you every day, don't make it every second."
"Alright!" Ethan jumped up and packed his things up in lightning speed. "Let's go!"
"To think summer is almost here again. Don't you just love this heat, the shadows from all the leaves as we walk pa.s.sed all the cars with their windows down blasting their music and having the time of their lives."
Owen looked at Ethan like he had just met him for the first time. It was like seeing a new person.
"What is wrong with you?" He asked. "Since when were you like this?"
"I've always been like this… The great heat just does that to people. Do you not subject yourself to the great heat?"
With each word, Owen became more and more disgusted with what he was hearing. He may agree that summer is better than winter but he wasn't happy with how Ethan was going about explaining this to him.

"The majestic sun just likes to drip its juicy rays on me. Rejuvenating me with its goodness. Giving birth to a new me that will s.h.i.+ne brighter than the last. Each one more perfect and refined from the last."
"R-right," Owen said trying to phase out what he just heard. "I'm going to go now…"
Owen, who was walking side by side with Ethan, couldn't exactly 'go now' as they had a bit more to walk together until they split off. Owen didn't have to walk this way, it was out of his way but he enjoys the company of Ethan, at least that was what he thought. Now he is picking up speed at each possible point to out-walk Ethan.
"You can't escape the gifts of the sun…" Ethan said easily matching Owen's pace. "The sun has given me gifts greater than you know…"
"What is wrong with you?! Are you ok?!" Owen said as his voice became panicky out of concern for his friend that seemed to have joined a cult.
"So," Owen said trying to get away from the cult advertis.e.m.e.nt. "What were you saying earlier about exams?"
"I was just thinking about how time has gone by quickly. It feels like yesterday that we started secondary school in year 7."
"Maybe for you," Owen said as he quickly spat on the ground out of hatred for school taking up his sleeping time. "I'd rather just revise myself and do all the exams."
"Come on. You know that won't work. You wouldn't learn anything, you'd just put it off until the last week then do it all and fail and cry."
The crazy cultist hit the point exactly. There was a reason as to why you have to go to school. It's a way to help and even if it meant cutting into sleeping time, it was worth it.
"Whatever," Owen said. "It'll be interesting when we move on."
"Yeah. Who knows what will happen in the future. Have you thought about what you want to do in the future?"
"Nope," Owen said before Ethan could even get the last syllable out. "There isn't anything I want to focus on so I'll just wait and see what happens."
"Smart…" Ethan said trying not to blurt out his cultist propaganda. "Just like the sun!"
"Shut it! What about you?"
"Same as you. Don't have anything special so I'll just go with the flow and think about it all when I need to."
A laid back att.i.tude in life was needed for a lot of people. In school, you will have the easiest time of your life even if you don't know it. Life gets harder, but some say it gets easier. For people like Ethan and Owen who have no idea what to do in the future, it could be challenging finding their pa.s.sion, but if you have a plan sorted that you wish to go for, the future years will s.h.i.+ne bright… just like the sun.
