In a room full of vertical standing chambers, several scientists walked around checking their contents.

Inside each chamber were weird looking creatures filled along with transparent blue liquid. Disfigured body and faces, exposed bones and sharp looking claws, the appearances of the creatures were horrifying. There were no other words suitable to describe them except the word 'monsters'.

The only oddity within that room was another chamber located in the middle. Unlike the others, submerged inside the chamber was a beautiful young woman. Compared to the other creatures, she was akin to a flower stuck among a pile of manure.

Stuck behind the neck of the sleeping woman was a long tube which connected to the exterior of the chamber. It was supposedly something that helped maintain the woman's unconscious state.

"How are the tests going?" a tall old man in military uniform asked the scientist beside him. Although the man's facial hairs had all turned white, his st.u.r.dy looking figure still gave off an oppressive feeling. Based on the various medals that were stuck to his chest and shoulder area, one could tell that he possessed quite the authority in the military.

"General, although we had great results with the other subjects, we have yet to achieve any breakthrough regarding this particular one. Besides, it hasn't even been long since you handed her to us," the scientist could only honestly speak the truth with a wry smile on his face.

Hearing his reply, the general frowned briefly before shaking his head. As he looked at the woman inside the chamber, there was a look of yearning and antic.i.p.ation on his face. It was not l.u.s.t for her mortal body, but for the power that she held.

This woman along with multiple other 'victims' under the guise of a 'necessary quarantine', had been transported to this underground research facility. After the breakout at the previous facility, which lead to the mayhem at the hypermarket in Nanjing, the government had ordered for all those involved, be it victims or corpses to be secured.

At first, the victims were still willing to cooperate since it was a request from the military. However, when someone in the group inadvertently stumbled upon one of the experimentation rooms in the facility, things quickly went out of control. The personnel of the facility tried to explain themselves but to no avail. The group naturally started to revolt, demanding to be sent home. After all, who would be willing to risk staying here and end up as a guinea pig.

During the scuffle, the guards were forced to point their guns at the group. Who knew that this would rile up the group even more, causing them to try to wrestle the guns out of the guards' hands.

Eventually, things got violent and some people were beaten and tasered to the ground. A particular person in the group who had been calm all along finally took action when she was approached by a guard with his taser. With a fling of her arm, she threw the guard 10 meters away like a rag doll. Within the next thirty seconds, the entire crowd of guards were also beaten down just like that.

This obviously caught the attention of the General as he knew how important the matter was. In front of the woman's ability, their current experimental subjects were lackl.u.s.tre to say the least. Not only were they uncontrollable, they were also horrible to look at.

After the matter was settled and the group had been detained in their rooms, a government official personally made a visit to the woman's room to convince her to 'serve her country' and offer herself up as a test subject. He even promised that she would only have to go through a few harmless experiments and would be released back to her home soon.

After witnessing the inhumane experiments in the facility, even a person with half a brain would not trust the official's words. The woman naturally refused and gave him a slap which almost knocked him out. She knew that they were determined to keep her here and had already decided to make her escape.

In a fit of anger and embarra.s.sment, the official threatened the woman with her only relative. Unfortunately, his action only served to enrage her. The woman was already extremely annoyed that she had been forcefully brought to this place while she was unconscious. She was also constantly worried sick about the safety of her child.

Without thinking, she gave him another hard slap. But this time, the official could no longer stand again. His neck had been snapped like a toothpick as he laid dead on the floor.

Since the discord had been sown, there was no use trying to mend it anymore. The woman wrecked havoc with her abilities while trying to escape from the facility. Knowing that they would not risk killing her, she did not hold back. She alone managed to wipe out half of the facility's guards. Unfortunately, in the end, she got shot in the back with a tranquillizer dart and finally fell unconscious.

The General had personally witnessed the woman's ability. Not only was she inhumanly fast, her physical strength was also insane. He had no doubt that if she was put into a room full of special forces soldiers for a death fight, she would ma.s.sacre them all within minutes.

Apparently, there also seemed to be a side effect when the woman used her ability. The longer it was activated, the more wild and bloodthirsty she became. The General felt that if she had maintained a normal state of mind during the battle, she would have easily been able to dodge that dart.

"I want you to convert all resources into researching her for now. As for those previous experiments, leave them for now," the General gave his order before exiting the chamber room.

After taking a few steps out of the room, he suddenly heard his a.s.sistant behind him calling out in weakly.

"General…. I don't feel so good..." The voice was then accompanied by a series of thuds.

The General was shocked when he saw everyone around him, and even guards faraway in the hallway, suddenly fall to the ground.

"What in the…" before he could finish his sentence, he too blacked out and made an ugly sprawl on the metal floor.
