On their school's forum, different stories about her had been posted by the student publication. And since it was common knowledge that Lois Gabriel, another campus beauty, hates the woman, she paid students and net lurkers to help share everything to other platforms!
However, despite the enemy's reputation being destroyed, Sofony did not feel happy at all. She did not feel relief as she knew that hosts like Clarissa hardly care about reputation. This fact was even more true to hosts like her since they mostly mingle with shady people. What's the use of good reputation when she's commanding tons of rotten bunch?
So far, even though Gio put up a picture-reward scheme against her, none sent them any real result. There were only people desperate for the reward. But honestly, their desperation and creativity amazed her greatly because for the sake of money, they made someone impersonate Clarissa then filmed or took pictures of the egg-throwing act.
When she heard the details from the system, Sofony could only shake her head.
'If that woman is still alive, no, my intuition is telling me she is... If so, then she's most likely used a face-changer to slip back into the city.'
While feeling half-annoyed and half-depressed, she posted the fake's photos on the forums and popular blogs, hoping Clarissa would surface due to being angered by the embarra.s.sing pictures.
She spent more time surfing the internet. Then after reading some of the news articles written and seeing the nude pics and videos online, she realized that actually, even she was vulnerable to attacks like this. Also, she remembered that if the other party realizes it too, she only needed twice the points paid to cancel the first command.
If that happens...
With sweat running down her spine, she immediately asked the system to just delete every existing and future existing revealing photo, images, and videos of her. After all, even if there were no more cameras at home, it was still better to be careful. What if someone edited somebody else's s.e.x scenes and exchanged her face with the female partner? Or... what if cybercriminals used her face to do some dirty operations online?
It was impossible to know the limit of human imagination so she has to be very cautious!
She told herself, "If there's no cause, there'll be no effects. To prevent future accidents, better delete everything that could lead to these!"
Half an hour later, she shut down her laptop and dressed up. After another ten minutes, she had already arrived at the meeting place, checking on her friend and sister. It seemed the night of sleep did the trick to Wendy since she looked fine now.
Sofony sighed. Thinking of how she had tampered with her memories thrice, she really couldn't stop herself from remembering why she deeply hated Clarissa.
"By the way, Sofy, why did you suddenly give me this?" Wendy lifted the hand with the ring and stared at it before she threw a questioning glance at Sofony.
They were currently at her coffee shop. At Sofony's request, the three girls met up here since the shop happened to be the nearest landmark to each other's house.
Steffy also looked at Wendy's ring and pouted at Sofony. The girl, who had dyed her hair dark blonde, even glared at her older sister and complained in a wronged tone, "Sis, you're very unfair! Why does she have one?"
Realizing the girl was totally envious of the other, Sofony wryly smiled and fished out her wallet to pull up the plain platinum ring she reserved for this bitter-faced la.s.s. "Here's yours. I also have one. Wendy, I just thought of giving you and Steffy this as a gift. But since it's my gift, don't ever take it off, okay? You too, Steffy. Or else, I'll hate you two for life!"
Wendy laughed at her serious threat and looked at the ring again. After clearing a s.p.a.ce on the table by pus.h.i.+ng the plates and gla.s.ses to the side, she happily forced the two to lay out their hands on it so she could compare the rings.
"I don't know what gets into you, but I like your gift, thanks!" she laughed. "And I guess, since we all have this, it can be said to be something unique to us, like some sort of token. But Sofy, why are these so plain? There's no pattern at all! Hey, don't tell me you don't know what designs we will like so you just chose the plainest?"
"I thought you like it? Why are you so nitpicky! Just wear it and cherish it!" scolded Steffy.
Sofony also stared at the ring she had. Of course, hers was a fake, and she only asked the system to provide her with something look-alike so that it would be easier for her to invent a reason for suddenly giving out things. After all, these two loved to ask. They would only not question her if she said the rings were token of friends.h.i.+p or something.
Time quickly pa.s.sed. She chatted with them a bit and then parted ways with them.
She checked her phone for the time and saw that it was only 4:13 pm.
"It's sad but there's still no news on her whereabouts...." she groaned and started walking down the streets.
"...Will things be different if I chose to go to another city? Though no one has died yet, I still can't shake off the guilt. If I didn't become greedy... if only I chose to leave Alina City, will things still end up this way?"
A sneer echoed in her mind.
She stopped talking with the system and thought things through.
In the end, she also stopped thinking after realizing that there was already no way back. Clarissa and she were already enemies. Mortal enemies at that.
'Aside from one-upping and defeating the other in order to live, what's there to think of?'
She looked up at the clear skies and bitterly smiled.
Four minutes later, she walked out of a large convenience store with an ice cream cone in one hand.
It was already late afternoon, but since the past events depressed her so much, she thought it would not hurt to treat herself with something.
Anyway, it was the fault of the convenient store's ice cream poster!
Also, just who the heck made her so stressed?
