Cole knocked on Lucille's door this time but no response came back. When he tried to open the door, he found out that it was locked and had a seal preventing anyone from opening it. It would light up and glow a vicious red if someone dared to open the door.
"Hmmm..."
Cole weighed his options. He could A) Use this as an opportunity to study magic seals for future reference. B) Break the wall instead of the door or C) Break the seal
'A would make Eva wait and kids usually get bored waiting. B would probably make Lucille get mad at me but that doesn't really matter. She's too 'great' a person to hold a grudge over something as small as that. And C sounds like the easiest option.'
Eva simply watched her father as she wondered what he was doing. Cole then walked a bit closer to the door and removed the black glove he wore on his right hand.
"What are you doing, Papa?"
"Just a little experiment."
As Cole's hands reached the surface of the doork.n.o.b, the seal on the door lit up once again. But this time, the red light faded away and turned into a feeble white.
*CRACK*
After that, cracks started to appear on the seal starting from the doork.n.o.b. Crick, crack, the seal continued to chip away until it finally broke and shattered. The small fragments faded away into the air like dust.
"Uwah..."
Eva let out a sound in amazement. To her, it looked like a thousand feathers flew up in the air and dispersed.
'Papa really is cool.'
While Eva was staring at Cole with stars in her eyes, the subject in question was praying for Lucille inside of his heart.
'I will reimburse her in some way for breaking and entering.'

While that happened, Lucille and Clyde were on their way back to her office. But her footsteps suddenly stopped.
"Your Majesty?"
Clyde asked Lucille in concern. She hunched over and clenched her chest. It started with a minor burning sensation in her chest but it quickly intensified.
"Ugh!"
Lucille kneeled down on the floor and tried to suppress the growing pain in her chest. If it was any kind of mild pain, she would've been able to walk it off like a true queen or suppress it. But no, it felt as if her very soul was injured.
'There is only one thing that I recently used my soul for... the seal to my office! But how? There's no one currently in the〈Demon Realm〉that could break it. Even that distasteful sloth is still busily slumbering in his underground cavern.'
'Unless...'
Before Lucille could continue her train of thought, the pain she had felt skyrocketed into abnormally high levels, causing her scream out in agony.
"OOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWW!!!〈SCHUZEL ZAF!〉"
"Your Majesty! Please refrain from such foul language!"
"〈VRON HEIL EIM, ZAF!〉"
'Oh no. She's in so much pain she's gone back into speaking Ania!'
The upper n.o.bility, as in the people starting with at the rank of Demon Lord mostly spoke in Common Speak. This also just happened to be English in the other Zones. This was because they had to prepare themselves for duels between the Hero.
It'd be plain awkward if the Demon Lord and Hero couldn't start fighting because they didn't get what the other said.
But that didn't really matter right now. The point was that Lucille was in so much pain she had gone back to using her first language.
"Clyde is the Void Physique that powerful?! That's cheating!"
"Your Majesty, does that really matter? Sir Cole is a cheat enough as is."
"I knew that already!"
Clyde responded by giving the 'then why did you ask?' stare. The eyebags he had previously had disappeared which may have given him the extra att.i.tude. He let out a smug smirk as Lucille's current appearance.
"Curse you, Clyde! Just because we've known each other since we were children doesn't mean that I'll forget this!"
"Then just because we've known each other since we were children doesn't mean that I won't hesitate to spread all of your embarra.s.sing childhood secrets."
'Dammit! This is what happens when he gets enough sleep! He should go back to being overworked. At least that way he feels like a better person.'
"I know what you're thinking. I'm just messing with you."
Clyde kneeled down and helped his lady up as he started to write a few words in the air, instantly relieving Lucille of the discomfort and pain she had been feeling earlier.
Just because he had acted smug one time, didn't mean that his feelings towards his queen had changed a single bit. After he was done, he stepped back for appropriate distance and said to Lucille.
"Now, Your Majesty. I think that it is in our best interests to go see the culprit behind your current misfortune."
"Yes, I think so as well..."
.
.
.
"Hey, Papa. Why do you wear these gloves anyway?"
"It's because my hands have the power to destroy magic."
Cole had given his glove to Eva so she could hold it on for the time being. Eva simply tilted her head at Cole's words as he put his glove back on. He opened the door, once again saying in his mind that he would reimburse Lucille. He entered the room with Eva following close behind.
He was quickly greeted with a piece of paper on the desk reading 'Special Event In Process, Go Back To Whence You've Cometh From'
'I don't see why anyone would see the need to suddenly make the latter half sound fancy and all. The first part was fine. Well, it's not like it truly matters.'
But the words' Special Event' caught Cole's attention. It was probably a holiday unique to the〈Demon Realm〉seeing how Cole couldn't recall any kind of occasion occurring today. Eva noticed the paper in Cole's hands and told her about the mystery event.
"Special Event? There's an event happening today?"
Before he could answer with 'it seems so', a familiar voice came
"Oya? Is this my favourite descendant, Cole Ashwell? The great Weapon Master of the〈Avant Zone〉? I'm starting to miss your 'Steward' last name. Rolled nicely off the tongue and suited your first name. Well, Ashwell is a nice name too."
When Lucille said that last part, she seemed to have reminded herself of something with her sudden grit of teeth and death glare.
'That was quite fast. I wonder if she rushed over here in a hurry to maybe I caused her some pain by breaking her seal.'
While Cole thought of that, he took note of Lucille's reaction.
"I have no idea about being someone's favourite but yes, I am indeed Cole Ashwell. And if I correctly recall, isn't the Weapon Master of the〈Avant Zone〉deceased?"
Lucille looked a bit irritated at Cole's tone and it felt like he was deliberately poking fun at her. Like she was unable to understand how Cole wanted to enjoy his life now. But she quickly changed the topic into something else.
"So, was it you?"
Her voice carried a kind of intimidating pressure that only the person spoken to would feel. And onlookers or listeners wouldn't be able to differentiate it from her usual speaking tone.
"Was it me? What could you ever mean?"
"You were the one that broke the seal on my door, right?"
"Yes, it was me indeed. Now, how do you want to be compensated?"
"..."
That was the very short exchange between the two of them. Lucille thought that Cole would've tried to play his way out of responsibility even though there was clear-cut evidence that he was the one that did it.
But since he knew that he would've had to do something about the damages, it means he was prepared to do so the moment he had even conceived the idea of breaking the seal.
So Lucille searched her mind for ideas that only Cole could turn into fruition. Something that was far too advanced or hopeful for her or her subjects to turn into reality or to make it economically feasible.
And with that, a single answer glowed inside her brain.
"Build a G*ndam for me! Pretty please? It doesn't have to be with stuff from the〈Avant Zone〉! Something like a magic golem is fine, so pretty please?"
Lucille was a beauty in of itself and was a person to be admired across the entire〈Demon Realm〉. If anyone were to see the state she was in, they would surely faint in awe. Her golden eyes were s.h.i.+ning as bright as stars and her face was as radiant as the hottest flame.
But that wasn't Cole's focus at all. Building a military a.s.set (no matter how useless it would be in reality) clearly felt a bit too much to be done in exchange for a single seal.
"...I think that's a bit too much for a single seal."
"Tch. Stingy..."
She clicked her tongue in disappointment with Clyde quickly reprimanding her. But Cole still wanted to do something as an apology.
"But while you think of something else I can compensate you with, would you please do me the pleasure of informing of what exactly this 'Special Event' is?"
Cole waved the piece of paper in his hands and Lucille took it back to examine it closely. She smirked. Lucille realized that there was something that would be far more entertaining to watch than Cole building a giant operable golem.
"What perfect timing."
