"Of course I am right," said Ashley.
"Still don't you think it's a bit rude to say that to someone you only met three times?"
"Three? I thought this was our second meeting. Didn't we meet for the first time in the witch hunt?" said Ashley puzzled.
"We actually met on the first day of school. At the time you were leaving our room. In case you still don't know I am roommates with Riku"
"Is that so?"
"Yeah, you were leaving and we b.u.mped at each other. You definitely made one h.e.l.l of a first impression. Can you guess what was my first impression?"
"What a stuck up B?"
"Nope! I thought I would be extremely hot if I was a girl"
"You know that we are only similar in our personalities right?"
"And here I thought we were actually twins born from the same parents. Jokes aside I was baffled there was someone so similar to me in this school. Even the way we dressed was so similar and you gave the same kind of air as me so I was lost for words"
"Stop licking my boots. Unless you want to become a zombie yourself nothing can happen between us"
"Take the compliment, will ya?"
"Oh? Being similar to you is a compliment now?"
"Of course it is. I am awesome"
"I find that weird as well"
"What? The fact that I am awesome?"
"No, the fact that we are similar but I don't get the feeling that you have seen much bloodshed"
"So you killed a lot of people?"
"Stop fis.h.i.+ng for information. No girl likes a busy body"
"Then it's a good thing I am handsome. Also, I am not trying to get in your pants so what do I have to lose?"
"My company?"
"Yeah right. I doubt anyone would even dare come close to you right now you STD vendor"
"Ouch!"
"You still haven't answered my question"
"I am the host of a zombie virus what do you think?"
"Point taken"
"What about you? Who hurt you so much that you are so screwed up in the head?"
"First of all, I am not screwed up on the head"
"Keep telling yourself that. One day you might actually believe it"
"Secondly, I guess I was just born this way?"
"Nope, not gonna believe that. I can see how detached from the world you are from your eyes but you can still act normally. So it feels more like you are looking at your own life from a third-person perspective. Unless you were trained to be that objective about your life there must be a tragic event. Which is it? Training or tragic event?"
"What do you think?"
"Training? You like dressing in military getup. Then there is that dog tag you keep wearing. So which country did you work for or were you a mercenary?"
"Neither. I just like dressing this way. As for the dog tag it belongs to my father"
"So your father was the one who trained you to be like that?"
"I guess so?"
"Woah and I thought my family had issues"
"Excuse me?"
"Didn't your father train to be a killing machine?"
"No! He just taught me the right way to think"
"And why would he do that? You wouldn't need these skills in your life, would you?"
"Um, are you aware of what kind of a school we go to?"
Even though Linri said it like that some doubts appeared in his heart. He had never questioned it before but what Ashley said was right. He didn't need his mental tricks to lead a normal life. Then why did his father teach him?
Most importantly why did his father knew these skills in the first place? As long as he was aware his father was a normal bobby. I mean a normal cop. Well, not exactly normal as he belonged to the special forces unit but weren't they just a normal strike team? Were they even trained for mental manipulation?
If the answer was no then was his father lying to him his whole life? Maybe? Let's say he did; was it really such an important thing to think about? No, because he didn't even know how to return back home. He can still interrogate his father once he found his way there.
"Fair point"
"What about your parents? What kind of issues you have with them?"
"They invented a zombie virus which infected me, need I say more?"
"Fair point. Anyway, this is the room. Are you going to come inside or?"
"Are you afraid that I will infect your little girlfriend?" said Ashley in a teasing tone.
"Just a little question. When you make fireb.a.l.l.s is that a spell or?"
"Can't really be called a spell as I am using the virus to modify my body. Why do you ask?"
"Well I can eat fire so I wanted to know if it was safe"
"Who knows," said Ashley after shrugging.
"So are you coming in or not?"
"Do you want me to?"
"Honestly, I would rather if you actually didn't. She already has enough trouble handling only a single one of me. I think Jaime would faint if there was actually two she had to deal with suddenly"
"That would be fun to watch"
"It would be but she would probably kill one of us after waking up and I am pretty sure it wouldn't be me"
"Fine, if you didn't want me inside there you could have just said so"
"Don't pull that guilt c.r.a.p on me. We both know it won't work"
"Yeah yeah. See ya! Also before I forget, next time I see you I am gonna kill you for what you did in the witch hunt" said Ashley as she was leaving.
"I know. I already found it weird that you bothered to talk to me"
This talk was just reconnaissance on Ashley's part. Even though she didn't actually die there was no way in h.e.l.l that she would be aware of it during the game. So from her perspective, Linri had basically killed her. And if she was remotely similar to Linri there would be one trait she would definitely have. She would be petty.
Unfortunately, she did not really know anything about his killer and after the event, he had mysteriously disappeared. Seeing him today was a prime opportunity to gather info about him that she could use to take revenge in the future.
In their conversations, both of them didn't really give any important information that wasn't either public or could easily be found. Linri was actually expectant about her revenge. He was rusty after his evolution.
Now that the sword dangling over his head had disappeared he had become somewhat lazy. There wasn't any immediate pressure of danger on him. Maybe b.u.t.ting heads against Ashley would help him regain his edge.
