"Was it fun staring at some boring bird for twenty-five minutes?" A voice came from behind him.

Elia turned around and looked at Teodore who was carrying two bags. He kept staring at them before he went back to stare outside the window. Teodore, who waited for Elia to ask him and was ready to answer him, didn't expect to be ignored.
"Hey! Don't you want to ask me something?"
Elia looked at him again and Teodore held out the bags at him as an obvious sign. But Elia didn't follow him and shrugged.
"There's nothing I want to ask. Should I be asking you something?"
"Should you be asking me something? Of course, you should! Aren't you going to ask what the bags are for?" Teodore dropped the bags on the desk.
Elia didn't even glance at the bags on the desk in front of him and immediately took his backpack and began to walk out of the empty cla.s.sroom. Teodore saw this and quickly took action. He blocked the door and spread his arms out.
Elia, who was only but a few steps away from the door, stopped in his tracks. "Please move."
"No can do, ice cream."
Teodore refused to step aside, he was determined to be asked by the person in front of him. Elia knew this but he really didn't want to ask. He had a feeling that if he did, he would be dragged into something unfavourable. But then again, it was either trying to force his way out of the cla.s.sroom and go home tired or ask so he could leave and have a chance to go home not tired… The choice was straightforward.
Elia stayed silent for a moment before he asked uninterested, "What are the bags for?"
Teodore grinned at Elia and said, "Those, ice cream, are for us to use tonight." He saw the face Elia gave him and hurriedly continued to speak, "A mate of mine gave me two VIP cards."
Taking out two s.h.i.+ny gold cards from his pocket, he showed them to Elia. On each card, there were letters carved on the centre, spelling 'Mint'.
"They're from a nightclub called Mint. It's a bit from here, but I'll drive. Heard it's good, even owns a restaurant above and got a fancy bar, women too. Tag along, how about that?"
The expression on Elia became uglier and more judgmental. "Not interested. Goodbye. Have a good day." He quickly reached for the door handle but was blocked again by Teodore, both of their foreheads crashed into each other. They reached for their forehead and rubbed it.
"What the f.u.c.k, ice cream?"
"That wouldn't have happened if you didn't stand in the way. Now, if you will excuse me, I would like to go home."
Teodore frowned. "Why don't you want to go? It will be fun, I guarantee you."
Elia lowered his head and then he raised it again to look at Teodore with an innocent face. "My mummy always tells me not to hang out with bad people and that nightclub is a very bad place for bad people. Are you one of them? Teo, please tell me you are not one of them! You are my only friend, I trust you. Please don't force me to go to the bad place…"
Hearing this, he didn't know why but he was suddenly hit by guilt. That was right, ice cream was not like him or his people, to bring him to a bad place out of curiosity, how could he do such a thing? He was only a normal civilian.
"Ice cream— I… Uh…"
"Can you please let me go through, Teo? I want to go home…"
Because of the sudden guilt, he subconsciously stepped aside. Elia, without blinking a bat, opened the door and walked out. A youngster will always be a youngster, still wet behind the ears. So easily tricked. Elia was in a good mood, he couldn't wait to take a nap once he got home.
"A bad place… Nightclub? Normal civilians don't go there? What kind of a f.u.c.king joke is that? He's also not even underage… This isn't even illegal..." That was the moment it dawned upon him that he got played for a fool. Teodore widened his eyes and immediately shouted to stop Elia from taking another step, "Hold the f.u.c.k up, ice cream!"
Elia closed his eyes and took a deep breath to prepare to run as fast as he could. But after a second, he changed his mind and wasn't in a mood to run anymore. He didn't have a solid reason to use his energy to run. Walking was better, and that was what he did. He ignored Teodore and continued to walk through the hallway like he didn't hear anything.
Leaning against the door, Teodore looked at Elia's back with a serious face. He wasn't going to back down. If force wasn't the option, then he would make him come with him willingly. The game wasn't over yet.
"If you come, you get free ice cream!"
Elia stopped briefly but he continued to walk. Ice cream? He could buy ice cream anywhere, and he wasn't short on money.
"They have a special ice cream menu! Ice cream flavours that don't exist in normal ice cream shops!"
Teodore watched Elia walking, and frankly, he was unsure if he successfully baited him. Hanging out with him for over two months, Teodore easily picked up Elia's love for ice cream, so what he had said should be enough to convince him. But watching him walking away from him made him hesitate slightly.
Ultimately, Elia stopped and said, without turning around, "Is what you're saying legit?"
"Yes."
"How do I know if you're telling the truth?"
"I will do whatever you want me to do if I'm lying."
Swiftly, Elia got in front of Teodore with his eyes sparkling. "Alright, what are we waiting for? Let's go."
Teodore shook his head helplessly. "Calm down. You can't go there looking like that."
With a plain b.u.t.ton-up white s.h.i.+rt under the grey cardigan he wore, together with black pants, Elia did look like a student and it wasn't suitable for going to a nightclub. That would make Elia lose the will to go with Teodore but anything for the special ice cream menu, he had to deal with it.
Smiling, Teodore pointed at the bags. "Don't worry, got everything we need in the bags."
Change of clothes, hair gel, perfume and even shoes were inside the bags. Elia recognized the brands on the items. Each of them was something people couldn't afford unless they were rich, and Teodore wasn't someone he thought as rich. The reason behind it was because every time he dragged him to go eat outside, he would always be the one paying.
Elia shot a glare at the clueless Teodore. "I'm not paying for your meals anymore."
Teodore was surprised and asked, "What? Why?"
"If you can afford those," Elia pointed at the opened bags and said, "street food would be no issues."
Shrugging, Teodore nonchalantly spoke, "It's more fun that way." He placed his arm around Elia's shoulder and continued, "Besides, why don't you look surprised that I'm rich?"
With Elia's usually expressionless face, he plainly answered, "Don't care, not interested."
Teodore clicked his tongue. "How boring. You're no fun."
"Not my problem."
Teodore sighed and walked out of the cla.s.sroom. Before he closed the door, he said, "Go change, I'll wait outside. Don't you dare wear the cheap s.h.i.+rt you have on you, and style your hair."
Elia watched him close the door, then looked at the opened bag and muttered, "What a pain."
After a moment, the door opened and a figure appeared. It was Elia who was done changing. He casually wore a tucked-in white b.u.t.ton-up s.h.i.+rt that was not his, leaving the three top b.u.t.tons open, a pair of black chinos with a black belt, along with a pair of black dress shoes. The clothes fit him perfectly and with the way he stood, he looked relaxed and cla.s.sy. It was as if the outfit was a part of his daily lifestyle. Not only that, his brown hair was slicked back which added more charm to his appearance.
Teodore sized him up and raised an eyebrow. "Not bad, ice cream."
"Mhm."
"Alright, get out. It's my turn to change now." Teodore pulled Elia out of the cla.s.sroom.
Elia tilted his head quizzically. "Why didn't you change before coming here?"
"Didn't have time," he replied and closed the door right after.
Teodore who wore a pair of black jeans and a wine-red s.h.i.+rt together with a black leather jacket was now wearing a pair of black trousers with a white loose t-s.h.i.+rt and a pair of black sungla.s.ses hanging on it. He also wore a pair of black dress shoes and a beige blazer. Compared to Elia, he looked more casual.
Elia saw his appearance and commented, "You look less rebellious now."
"Shut up, ice cream," Teodore said. "Let's leave."
Teodore took Elia to his car that was parked outside the university, it was a black sports car. Teodore wanted to see some reactions from Elia but he didn't receive any and watched him enter the car without hesitation, which disappointed him a bit. Elia, on the other hand, only wanted to leave quickly to check out the special ice cream menu.
The moment they arrived at the nightclub, Elia's eyes brightened so much Teodore could have sworn he saw sparkles in them. The Mint nightclub wasn't like any other normal nightclubs, it was more for the rich people. Everyone always wore expensive clothes, dressing appropriately. Although it was mainly for rich people, occasionably there would be normal people getting in through the use of their network. In fact, anyone could enter the nightclub, regardless of their status, as long as they could afford the entry fee. Even if they could, they had to also think about the prices inside. However, coming from a rich family, Teodore wasn't a bit worried.
The customers were divided from normal and VIP members. Normal members didn't hold a card and didn't have access to some areas in the nightclub, which were exclusive to the VIP members only. The restaurant on the upper floor was one of the places, and that was where Elia and Teodore were heading to.
Once they entered, Teodore showed their VIP cards to a female staff member and were guided to the restaurant, as it was their first time coming there. The first floor was filled with loud music and people partying; some watching half-naked women pole dancing and throwing money at them, others sitting at a table in a group and heartily drinking. This kind of sight, a newcomer wouldn't able to overlook and not look around the place. However, not only did Elia not pay attention to the surroundings he also didn't look curious at all. Teodore couldn't help but question if he was a real man.
Elia had been to countless nightclubs before in his previous life, though most of the times it was due to business, so this wasn't new to him. Nonetheless, he wasn't interested in the people. All he had in his eyes at the moment was the ice cream menu of this place called Mint.
