He was the one who made the decision on where to begin first. As he mentioned that he knew most of them and had visited them at some point. While she was fresh, and mostly to help if something went wrong.
She was not familiar and knew that it was better for him to lead her. He had been rather happy to learn about this news which brought them to a tailor shop.
Something that she knew in that instant would be about the information they would exchange. It could be told just from the way they were going. And that they were on the other side of the city.
Even as he had not said it. There was no word said about what was happening even as they were walking from street to street. And there was no word since they were pa.s.sing some of the busiest streets of the city. It being a full difficulty even for her to keep up.
Although he would always remain if he did not see her. Perhaps knowing just how difficult it was. "The crowds are rather difficult."
"It is the fastest route across." Which was right and could be seen by how many chose it. Given that it was normal to be working across the city as seen in Chang'an. Where many often left their homes early in the day.
Even as she was not used to it. It was idyllic with visitors but they were rare. Her customers were mostly in a situation where she knew them as well. It was something that she knew was uncommon. In her town, almost all knew each other.
But that could not be said here.
"But this amount of people is a lot."
"Didn't you actually see the busiest street in Chang'an?" He asked.
She shook her head. "Not a wonder then since only then this would be around the same." Even as she was uncomfortable. But it was still far from the destination. "We've for through the worst of it." Something that he knew to be the truth by this point.
As the next place had far less so. "And you learn how to find the best way to avoid getting squashed in there."
Which she was not as it was her first. As they walked through the streets, it was the same as Chang'an. With tall buildings, for the most part, some of which could be dated to the Tang dynasty for its renovations. Something that she learned while reading. Feiyu had encouraged her to do so.
And thus granting her access to the library and the collection of books. As Feiyu only played with her, but she had the chance to really see the selection it when she was borrowing a tome on weiqi.
Before they had finally came to the right place. A shop right in the middle of two good streets.
"Here's the place." Even as she had no idea what to expect. But Feiyu had given them clear instructions on what they would be doing. Merely informing him, it would take a long while before they could get anything.
But it was important. Even as the seamstress came out, looking in surprise. "Here to see our boss?" One of them, a young woman. Even as she turned around to call for the owner. Both of them were dressed in pale blue, an unusual color.
The sleeves were shorter, perhaps knowing that they were working with fabrics and needles all day long. Even as a man had come to the front. Wearing a set of blue robes as well, his hair tied up into a high topknot.
Even as he was running a tailor shop. She knew it wasn't uncommon, it was more of his age that surprised her. He was young and this wasn't something that young man often found interesting. Remembering that they were either young women who sought this as clothes had been an acceptable choice of profession. Or middle-aged men.
"So, here for a fresh set of clothes?" He took out the book. It was opened to the pages where it was filled with clothes. Even as he turned to a specific page, and in it was a list of events.
"It isn't exactly that. My mistress wishes to tell you that should there be any changes in the demands." Even as he leaned in closer.
"How about we speak of this in private?" It was an acceptable thing between them. Where he would lead them deeper into the shop. The places where the seamstress worked. An empty room, perhaps his office.
"Bring some tea and snacks." They nodded, with both of them coming in. The tea had been the same sort, nothing strong of work flavor. While the
"So, what are the changes?"
"Has there been any extortions? Anyone who has been complaining of financial troubles?" He asked. Even as this felt strange to her. He had a shop, didn't he? Thus it didn't make any sense why he would know something this intimate.
"How is this related to him?" She asked.
"Measurements would have to be taken and that it time spent. Not to mention the discussion of the fittings and the clothes itself." Ensuring that it would take up the better part of a day. Although she, for the most part, had only worn clothes made by her or her mother.
"Only wealthy women come here demanding me to go to their homes. And I often hear plenty of secrets." It made sense too. Most women who could afford to have tailors come to their homes did it. And thus ensuring that it would make sense for Yuan Shao to ask him.
"So far, none." Even as he had not looked surprised at the turn of events. This was something that they needed to have.
"Keep an eye out. As they may be very specific. Mostly families with ailing men at the top, who wish to do something for their soul." Not uncommon for it to happen. "Or it might be women."
Women had personal wealth, often inheriting jewelry, money, and items. Those things could also be donated and even less likely to head anywhere. "Where has this happened?"
"Chang'an." Not Kaifeng or even here personally. It had been Chang'an which saw this.
"It makes sense why I have not heard of it."
"If it had you would have known a month ago." He rolled his own eyes.
"Though who is this girl?" He looked at her.
"I'm Feiyu's apprentice, Dianyu." He blinked before taking a chance to glance through her. As though he was taking a moment to process it.
"I'm surprised she took one."
"You know my master?"
"I used to deal with her before he effectively became her representative." Something that Yuan Shao would not find kindly. "We were in the same year, she pa.s.sed and was promoted. I was not. And so, I decided to pursue my other interests which were working in fabric."
Even as his eyes turned to her umbrella. "That's an unusual one."
Dianyu guessed that he knew it as well. Since he mentioned that he was once part of them, but had since been released. "Everyone told me that."
"Well, being a strayer isn't always the nicest thing. It has its own downsides too."
"Is that the reason why you left?"
"I wasn't qualified enough, and now I don't feel resentful at not being chosen."
"You didn't tell me while I was here."
"You were already one when you came." Which didn't seem to make any sense to tell him of it? "Either way, you probably have the largest sense of it. At least at your point."
"It was mostly in the lifestyle that bothered me. The constant moving around, travelling. If you don't like that then it isn't for you. And they offered me to help them and capital to start this venture of mine."
She could guess why. He had shared it with her because this was not a life some wanted. Or perhaps some sought it to be what they did not need. It was not unusual for such a thought in their life.
Even as she didn't exactly choose it because of the opportunities. They were there, but she had not been able to see a lot of places. Or as much as she would have liked. A lot more went into reading, studying and remaining in a single place rather than moving around constantly.
But why tell her? That was something that baffled her above all. Even as they were now lead out of the shop by his a.s.sistants.
Only for them to be outside. "Well, he did give you advice that was valuable." Yuan Shape acknowledged it. Since it was important to know that he had grown up here, he had more chances to see what were the detriments of this.
"Resolve can also be worn down by frustration, exhaustion, and boredom. That was something my mother told me. And for anyone new, the rule is often to wait a while before bringing up the subscribe of the promotion."
"Did he have a hunch or something?" She asked. It was oddly timed advice.
"No, I'm sure he would tell that to anyone who wasn't. I never really asked him his he felt about being left out." Even as it seemed like something that would have been filled with resentment. "He seemed rather happy to do so."
She had found her resolve here. She wouldn't shake from it. But he did bring up a good point. She wasn't exactly well traveled or able to adapt well. She didn't complain, but this was something that she could possibly be doing for the rest of her life.
And she had never cared to ask about the finer details behind it. It just didn't seem to matter to her. Or rather she didn't think it was important.
Even as she was mostly kept back and told herself that this was what she wanted. As much as she needed to ask an important question for herself.
"I wonder does anyone have their clothes made from him?" Just as he turned his heel inside, before running to the counter.
She would step back to follow him. "I almost forgot that Feiyu was asking you for a new set of clothes. Or rather this is what she ordered." He had placed a slip of paper on there.
"And here is the deposit for the first half." Which was expected as payment? "So, she did have intentions to patronize my shop?"
Being surprised at it. "Although this is a lot for her. Are you sure you didn't include your clothes inside by accident."
Even as he took down the paper. Before having someone make a copy of it. "
"I have been walking since morning. And this morning I woke up early. And shouldn't you have noticed that I only took up like three sets."
"I did. But she usually doesn't do that. Even as I was looking through countless sets of evening wear." Even as it was clear that it meant that she was probably heading to a brothel. Which was not something out of mind since they were out and about mostly looking for any information and spreading it.

"And some for you as well."
"I guess it's because none of us had any additions."
"And taking advantage of my price and time. Since it's mostly custom. I'll be there in a couple of days, so keep an eye out." Something that has been agreeable for them to try even while they was here.
Even as they walked out again. "So, you had that?" Pointing to the list.
"It had slipped my mind. Completely." He did make sense if they had almost done it. And they were about to leave.
"I can see that." He had not brought it up, no small smile on his face to suggest that he had known more. He was telling the truth in that. She could tell that as well.
They went back, even as that thought remained in her mind.
