While Jeff made them pretty well despite obvious deficiencies, Zhao Wei could make them so perfectly scrumptious, those little pieces of meat coated in b.u.t.termilk batter and deep fried to golden brown perfection. She also had a craving for nuggets which confused Zhao Wei since they were simply breaded minced left overs, while she barely came out to eat anything else he cooked.
Turns out, the great inventor was a natural born shut-in, preferring to stay in her lab over even the girl's quarters where she would have to meet Thirteen. And these little morsels of heaven could sustain her while she stayed in her little corner of heaven. Only trouble was that her supply of these mostly came from the person she'd already had beef with.
She'd given back his room and everything and yet the guy was still so petty about cooking the stuff for her whenever she wanted. Something about it nothing being a nutritious meal, sometimes he even tried to slip in some vegetable fritters with her order, but she was no child. Immediately as she tasted it, she would spew it out her carriage window.
She'd gotten so used to carrying a pile of these back to her place she didn't even bother to wash her hands anymore, getting so many grease stains on her papers. One day when the world remembered them as legends of the old world, Grendolyn would be counted amongst the most influential and mysterious of her time. Despite the importance of her contribution to the future of all races, her notes, especially the later ones would always have faded blotches and pages which hid many pivotal parts.
If only they knew that the reason her knowledge couldn't be pa.s.sed down completely was simply because the lady refused to wash her hands after eating and would from time to time use her own papers to wipe off the grease, causing the ink to smudge. Every inventor would go to war against every chef on the planet.
"No! you can't do this to me! If I don't have some food I'll die!" She screamed as she wrapped her arms and legs around one of his feet, her dwarven strength causing the bones to creak.
"I didn't say I wouldn't feed you, just something else." Zhao Wei replied at the annoying thing strapped to his leg. "Besides you've only been eating those for 4 days straight, it's not healthy."
"I'm fine..."
"No!"
"But..."
"No!"
"Bu..."
"If you ask again, I won't make any for you for a whole week." Finally Grendolyn dropped from his leg with a defeated look on her face.
"Oh lord, why do I have to go through such suffering..." with her head down she began to groan and drag her feet to her lab, this time her door opened without a struggle as Gwen watched her pitiful frame enter.
"As for you." This time Zhao Wei turned to Ode who was still processing the scene that just happened. The demoness was acting like a brat and begging the slave for food, maybe it's that everything has it's weakness kind of thing, he thought to himself.
Once his brain finally registered that Zhao Wei ha been talking to him he snapped back to reality only to realize his large body was now being carried upon Zhao Wei's shoulders.
"What's going on with you..." Zhao Wei complained to Gwen. "The girl was just shocked and yet you brought her in to be taken care of, while you let the guy who is actually injured stay outside?"
"Oh right I didn't see that, sorry bout that sir, it's just that the girl was covered in bear blood so I really didn't know if she was injured or not." Gwen apologized to Ode who was in a very awkward position to respond right now.
"Can you get Grendolyn to send some splints, tell her or else she'll never see another nugget." Zhao Wei threatened. "You, you and you, get in here." He pointed at three of the most injured looking guys and urged them to follow him in.
Before he could even get to his door a bag of splints, mixed with what was probably metal ores to increase the weight was thrown against his back, knocking the wind out of him like a jet. Turning back he could see Grendolyn peeking out her window with her tongue sticking out.

"That's about as much as I know." Bart said. "After some time the little one came out to bring some food, we wanted to ask her some question but it doesn't seem like she likes to speak."
"Ooo..." Jacob could only respond with a dumbfounded expression.
"You know, the young one's should just be a little younger than you, now I know you have a thing for older ladies like Faris, but give the small one a few years and..." before he could finish, a crazy level of blood l.u.s.t was emitted from behind him.
Turning around they both spotted said little one who was now moving towards them at a slow yet very oppressive pace.
Once she reached them she put her hand on Bart's shoulder, she was much smaller than him, but that grip was no joke. That combined with that expressionless face and eerie unblinking eyes really stirred some fear in him.
"Injured." She said in a very monotone voice which sent chills down both their spines.
"What?" Was all Bart managed to say before feeling a punch to his gut sending him sprawling on the floor.
She turned towards Jacob who was frozen stiff, still carrying the same expression. "Zhao Wei said that all the injured should be brought inside." With those words she turned back and headed towards the carriage, pulling out a knife on the way and looking over it delightedly as she dragged Bart's limp body behind her.
