He was ready for the wrath of a woman scorned, but man was it still intimidating. She was on him before he could react. She grabbed him by the throat has smashed him into the ground, "THAT WAS MY ONLY DAUGHTER YOU PIECE OF s.h.i.+T!"

In that instant, all his health disappeared. He coughed up blood as his throat was smashed. While he didn't exactly die outright, he still suffered ma.s.sive damage, "I will kill you for that."

"ADIRA! Leave the boy alone, or you will suffer the consequences!"

She looked up to see where the voice was coming from. There were at least thirty people around her with levels of around fifteen up to nineteen. She was well aware that taking on so many would be suicidal.

"This piece of s.h.i.+t nearly killed my daughter!"

"She knew the risks of getting herself involved in the compet.i.tion!"

"That still doesn't give him the right to take the match so far!" She was looking him dead in the eye.

"She isn't dead! Adira, last warning. Back off now!"

She started to tighten her grip around Radley's throat. Radley felt himself losing consciousness. A fist hit her upside the head so powerful that it sent out a shockwave as she felt herself sailing through the air cras.h.i.+ng against the wall. She recovered and spat out some blood. Everyone surrounded her. She knew she was hopelessly outgunned, but she readied for combat nonetheless. Radley used all of his energy and ran in front of her to stop the onslaught. He couldn't talk but he was able to wave his hands around to try and stop them.

Adira stood up from the dirt and brushed herself off. She walked towards Radley and said, "Don't think this makes us even. You are an insect that needs to be down. The only problem is that rules are rules. Radley walked up to her and beckoned her closer. She leaned in closer to him. He tried his best to whisper into her ear, it sounded gruff and broken, "You better stop making enemies, because you are a worse threat to your daughter than anyone else."

She leaned back and shoved him aside, after which she made her way towards the medical centrum.

The announcer chimed in, after clearing his throat, "…Well, that was exciting. We have a new winner. THE LONEEEER!!!!!! Congratulations!"

Radley wasn't in a celebratory mood. A popup came into view. Congratulations. Quest accomplished. 500 Invo points. 10 Diff points. He finally breached his fifty and bought the upgrade for instant reaction. It suddenly turned into spatial awareness. The user can now react to anything within a meter (about 3.3 feet) radius regardless of the user's eyes are on the subject or not. Instant reaction is still in effect in conjunction with spatial awareness. The new ability was ridiculously OP. It actually got a small smile out of him. The ref guided him towards the podium where he received his three thousand dollars. He was expected to give a speech but he couldn't due to the fact that his throat was basically crushed.

Everyone adjourned as Radley wanted to check up on Elita. He got a lot of congratulatory handshakes and praises with an impressive performance but just tried dodging everyone. Rita happened to be at the entrance of the medical facility where they were treating Elita, still using a crutch, "Glad I wasn't the one to face you in battle. That could have ended badly."

It struck him deeply. He didn't want people to even know he existed and yet all this happened. He wanted to rea.s.sure Rita, so he moved in closer.

Radley moving closer to her was considered a rather bold move by Radley by Rita. Her heart started to beat so fast and painfully due to the anxious situation. She was going to be kissed?! She started to freak out but she held her ground. Maybe she wanted to be kissed. She has never even been kissed before. Radley the most bada.s.s level one was going to be her first kiss. Her cheeks became redder the closer he got. She puckered up only to be left standing in the wind as Radley went closer to her ear, "I am sorry if that scared you. I didn't really mean for that to happen. It was a lot more damaging than I expected. I really wouldn't have used it on you, I swear it."

She pouted when he pulled away. That wasn't what she was expecting that. She started to laugh. This confused Radley somewhat. He turned his head inquiringly, "Sorry, sorry. I guess that was to be expected from a man that calls himself, 'The Loner'."

While he wasn't too sure what she meant by that so he shrugged and continued walking. Rita spoke up, "You sure you want to go in there? Adira is still in there, you know."

He nodded and proceeded to walk to where they were treating Elita. A familiar face was guarding the entrance. It was the same guy from the night before that escorted them the night before after the attempted **** of Rita. When he saw Radley he gave way from in front of the door and said, "She has been expecting you."

Radley turned his head slightly, "Elita."

He nodded acknowledging him and proceeded inside.

He saw Elita and his heart sank. She was connected to all sorts of machines. Was she in a coma?

She drearily opened her eyes and looked sideways. The mask was off. She saw Radley and smiled. Adira happened to be standing in a corner but didn't say a thing. Elita spoke up, "I forgive you. I came into that compet.i.tion knowing that there would be a chance that there was somebody stronger than me. It was just a bitter pill to swallow to see just how vast the difference was actually. I am sorry for underestimating you."

Radley could only nod and smile. He saw that she was okay, relatively speaking that took a weight off his heart. After all, was said and done he left the room.

As soon as the door closed tears began to form in Elita's eyes, "Mom…"

Adira ran to her side and held her hand, "I am so sorry for being so d.a.m.n weak. I couldn't make you proud, and I tried so d.a.m.n hard…" She started to really ball her eyes out. All Adira could do was comfort her. It was a ma.s.sive psychological blow for them both."

Radley was standing outside the door and listened in. He could feel their anguish, but he had to steel himself. He still had an ultimate objective after all. Stop the Source.
