"I think I have to take a long leave from work," I said and Jane nodded.
"If you want, I can ask Matt to help you out," she said and I nodded.
"If he can replace me at work then please," I said.
There was no other person I could trust in business or personal matters aside from Matt.
Silence hung between us for a while and I squeezed Janés hand once more as I used my other hand to rake my hair.

"Oh G.o.d, this is my fault. I upset her so much. I'm sorry Jane," I said but she shook her head.
"This is not solely your fault. You heard the doctor, and you heard my sister's history. The two of you had your own issues and emotional baggage. What's important is you already know your mistakes and we found out what's wrong so we can do something about them."
Not knowing what to say, I just nodded and Jane patted my shoulder. "Just take care of her brother-in-law," she said and when I looked at her, she was smiling at me and I smiled back in spite of everything.
"I will."
After Jane left, I walked towards Yesha's room and took a peek. My breath caught upon seeing her sitting on her bed, her eyes staring ahead but they were empty, not seeing anything at all, and I remembered what the doctor said and I bit my lip.
I couldn't help but wonder if in the week I kept away from her; did she have those haunted eyes too? But of course, she must have. Matt had told me how she'd wait for me to return home and how she would come to the bar to ask if I called. I was the one who gave my angel this ghostly expression.
Gripping the k.n.o.b, I pushed myself to step in the room.
"Yesha…" I called her name twice before she turned her attention to me and I watched as those vacant eyes slowly came to life and she smiled.
"Adam…" she whispered as she raised her hand and I quickly crossed the room to get to her side.
"Hi," I said as I took her hand in mine and kissed her. "How are you feeling?" I asked lightly and she shrugged.
"I'm okay," she answered as she leaned on my shoulder and I s.h.i.+fted on the bed so I could hug her from behind.
"I heard you haven't been eating," I stated casually and she turned to me with a frown.
"I wasn't hungry," she answered and I pulled her nose just like how she pulled mine.
"But our baby is always hungry so you have to eat for him even if you're not hungry," I reasoned out and she seemed to think about it.
"Okay," she agreed easily and I felt relieved.
"Baby, we're getting married tomorrow. I want you to take care of yourself okay? I don't want my wife to be sick. I don't want my baby to be sick either, so please, listen to the doctors," I told her as if I was talking to a child but she seemed to be agreeable so I continued to make conditions on which she said yes to everything.
When morning came, I had the nurses bathe her before I took my own. We'd get married in a few hours and so I wanted to get ready early. I stepped out of the bathroom already dressed for our wedding when I saw my lawyer talking to her, and I froze.
My angel was holding some doc.u.ments and my lawyer was explaining about them and my eyes widened. Seeing the confused and obviously upset expression on Yesha's face sent me into panic and I quickly walked towards the bed. I had forgotten about the pre-nuptial agreement until now. I was so busy that I totally forgot that I did something that I was sure would upset Yesha very much. I forgot to call the lawyer and cancel it!
Yesha looked at me as soon as she saw me. In her eyes, I could tell that she was hurt.
"Yesha…" I called as I tried to get the doc.u.ments from her but she moved them out of my reach. "Give those to me, baby," I said but she shook her head.
"Ah, Mr. Kingsley, I brought the doc.u.ments you told me to," the lawyer said and I turned to him with narrowed eyes.
I knew I was the one who had asked him to bring the pre-nuptial agreement but I didn't order him to personally give it to Yesha.
"We'll talk later," I said as I turned my attention back to Yesha who was reading the doc.u.ments. "Baby, give that to me," I ordered but I was ignored.
"Give me a pen," she said afterwards and when none of us moved, she looked angry. "Give me a f.u.c.king pen!" she yelled and I got nervous.
She looked very upset and I worried about her and our baby. I signaled for the lawyer to hand her what she asked for and I watched painfully as she signed the contract. "Here," she said as soon as she's done and the lawyer took the doc.u.ments.
"Baby," I called out, trying to touch her, to calm her down but she didn't even look at me.
She lay on the bed and covered herself with the blanket.
"I want to rest. Please leave," she said quietly. I didn't want to go but in fear that I might upset her further, I left.

"Congratulations!" Matt and Jane crowed as they clapped and smiled.
"You two are married now so stop fighting like kids," my new sister-in-law added as she hugged and kissed me on the cheek and then did the same to my new wife.
In the end, Yesha and I got married three days later than planned since my angel sulked and refused to marry me for a while. It took Jane and Matt time – not to mention a lot of begging from me before we managed to make her agree to marry me again. I had destroyed the agreement too since I really didn't care about that anymore and seeing her sign it was enough to put my mind at ease.
"When can I go home?" Yesha asked and I turned to her with a smile.
"We can go home today if you want," I told her.
The doctor already said that as long as I could keep her in bed, we could go home anytime, and we did.
Yesha, after being married to me improved a lot. It was as if her depression hadn't existed and so we didn't bother with the therapy Dr. Lin talked about. She went back to her old cheerful self. Aside from her being tied to the bed, she was blooming and smiling a lot during the rest of her pregnancy.
In nine months' time, my wife delivered a healthy baby boy through cesarean section. I could never be happier.
