She wanted to fight back so desperately, however, in the current situation they were stuck in, she held herself back to avoid a scene and further trouble. She glared at ivy, throwing darts at her. Ivy shuddered a little but did not let it show. She kept her composure and led the way. The knocked on the counselor's door.
"Come in." Came a firm voice from inside.
Emily and Linda entered like culprits with their heads low, while Ivy smiled lightly like a police who successfully captured two thieves. While the counselor sat behind the desk with a domineering and cold aura around him, seeming like a judge who is ready to punish the guilty.

The counselor frowned and asked, "What happened now?" Ivy grabbed her chance ad started to complain like a five year old. "Sir! The two were late to cla.s.s and when they were questioned, they tried to shrug it off and make lame excuses. They even answered back to the teacher an-"
The counselor raised his hand, signaling her to stop shooting her mouth off. "Please leave." He ordered with a stern voice and solemn expression. Ivy turned around, muttering something behind his back and left. As soon as she left, there was an awkward silence before he further stated, "I don't have enough time and energy to deal with such trivial matters. Run along now!"
Emily and Linda stood there in shock. Seeing that they did not budge he added, "Are you waiting for detention or what?" Emily shook her head wildly, grabbing Linda by the arm and running out. As soon as they left, he sighed lightly and smiled.
He pulled open the lowest drawer on his table, taking out an old, dusty picture, which was still kept safe. It was of a young teenage girl, smiling brightly as she showed off her medal, her dark blue eyes sparkling. Looking at her, his face become softer and warmth filled up his heart, his eyes became misty as he dwelled himself in his old memories.
Emily and Linda ran towards their cla.s.sroom. They asked for permission before entering the cla.s.s. The teacher was clearly unhappy as she saw them come back too early, and especially happy.
As they sat down beside each other, Emily darted a glance towards Ivy before completely ignoring her and minding her own business. Ivy ground her teeth as she thought, can't wait to see the look on your face when the magazine comes out and every student reads it.
After an eternity, break finally came as every student chitter-chattered among themselves whilst heading towards the cafeteria. Just as usual, there was a stand set up in the center of the main ground for giving away the magazines. It caught attention of majority of the students as they crowded over the stall, everyone grabbing a copy.
"I've heard that some parents protested about 'selling' magazines, so now they have announced that they will be giving away for free, with the fee covering it up." Linda chatted as her usual self.
Hearing about the magazine, she immediately remembered something. She had to check whether there are some scandals about her or no, because if Ivy's dad is the manager of the press, she would spare no effort to get rid of her. Which seems quite an absurd thing to do over a small personal grudge.
She kept her eyes on the stall, absent mindedly. Linda kept on chattering but when she noticed Emily was not paying attention, she pouted and traced her line of sight. She understood her thoughts and hopped off to the stall to grab one.
Before Emily could process any of it she already held the magazine in her hand. Knitting her eyebrows, just by looking at the cover of it. It was of Ivy.
Leaning calmly on a blue and white striped deck chair in the center of a lush green garden, reading a book, she was wearing a yellow floral off-shoulder top and white jeans. Huge black cat-eyed sungla.s.ses covered her round face. Her blonde hair spreading over her shoulders. A beige panama hat was carefully placed over her head in an angle.
Her face was s.h.i.+ning and looked almost unreal from all that excessive use of make-up. Ignoring her face, rest of the picture was quite beautiful and seemed like the college hired some professionals to shoot it.
Wait a second, why did it seem like this was more like a fas.h.i.+on magazine? Ugh. The start wasn't good actually. Let's see what's inside.
Emily carefully opened the magazine to its first page.
