They soon arrived at Emily's house. Emily turned to say her goodbye, but instead, she saw Linda looking down at the floor, seeming quite upset. Emily lightly placed her hand on her shoulder, "Everything okay?" Linda's teary gaze met Emily's as looked at her for a while, after suddenly jumping to give her a tight hug. Emily could hear her sniffing as she cried lightly. She instantly became really worried for her. Wasn't she fine just before?! "Linda?! What's wrong? Is everything okay? Please tell me? How can I help you?"
Hearing her caring words, Linda started to cry louder. Emily's mind stared to spin, she couldn't think of anything that could make her cry, as she would rarely cry. She took her inside and they both sat on the sofa in the living room.
Emily waited patiently for her to explain her cause of distress. Soon enough Linda straightened up, tried to look her into the eyes, but their gazes wouldn't meet. Trying to control herself from bursting into tears again, "I.. I'm... Leaving... Going to study... Abroad... For two years..." She quickly spat out the last few words, starting to sniff as she hiccupped.
Emily was really confused. "Hey! C'mon, what's there to cry about? You should be extremely happy! Infact, congrats on the occasion. I'm so happy for you." Emily smiled brightly, as she tried to comfort her. Linda was touched and stopped crying, "But... I'll be alone. I'll have to make new friends. And I'll miss you so much... I don't want to go." "What's life without struggles?" Emily shrugged. After thinking about it, Linda realized that it wasn't bad after all. Well, it was going to be hard, but you got to try new things in life.
After watching Linda's mood lift up, Emily relaxed. Got me worried for no reason at all! She laughed and cried at the same time internally. "But you have to promise me something." Linda smiled.
"Anything!"
"No one else is going to be your best friend other than me! And... You have to spend the last few hours with me. Ah, yes! Also drop me off at the airport!" Linda started counting. "Of course, of course!" Emily nodded, laughing. As long as she was happy, everything was fine.
Now there they were, in Linda's house, baking cookies together... For the first time... They surfed the web for half an hour in search of finding the easiest recipe. They started making it as soon as they started they got the recipe, only realizing halfway that there were no chocolate chips. Leaving everything, out they went to the grocery. Telling each other jokes, recalling old memories in the way. Finally when everything was back on track. They continued with the baking. Having no experience, the first batch came out - burnt. As hard as rock, as black as coal, as gross as... Burnt cookies?
However all this time, they never felt distressed and enjoyed every minute they spent together.
The next batch of cookies came out just right, while the last one, was not cooked enough. Oh well, at least they had fourteen cookies that they could enjoy with some warm milk. After all that hard work, the only batch of cookies were amazing. Their hard work paid off! They were enjoying their time together when a Linda's cell started ringing. It was an alarm. Her face froze.
Emily gulped, another storm coming up. "Now what?" Emily asked cautiously. Linda started jumping around and throwing clothes in the center of the room, "Aahh!! I completely forgot that my flight is in two hours and I didn't pack a single thing!" Saying it she randomly threw stuff into the huge suitcase she dragged from underneath the bed. "Woah, relax! I'll help!" Emily laughed as she sat in front of the suitcase and filtered out the stuff Linda threw in.

In just half an hour, everything was settled. Linda wiped the sweat off her forehead as she thanked her, "Oh, Emily! Thanks a lot for helping. If you weren't here, I have no idea how long it would've took me to pack my stuff."
Linda's dad drove the both of them to the airport. When finally it was time for Linda to leave, she turned around and hugged Emily tightly. "Pinky promise me that I'll be your best friend forever!" She whispered. Emily laughed as she hooked her pink into hers, "Promise." Seeing that it was time for them to separate, tears filled in their eyes. Linda hugged her dad and mom goodbye and finally Emily, forcing a smile she said, "Remember to keep a check on my status. I'll also bring some souvenirs from Paris for you!"
Emily giggled through her red, watery eyes.
As soon as the announcement for Linda's flight was announced, she turned and waved them for the late time before leaving their sight.
