Donis spent that entire evening practicing [Air Pulse] and ended up getting it to level 2. At level 1 it got a proper damage stat, which then enabled it to actually use the element that it's named after. Donis initially thought the skill was just called as such because it travelled through the air, but it turns out it uses Air Charged Mana.

-[Air Pulse]-

[Novice]

[Damage: 15]

[Cost: 12MP]

[Level 2/30][45% EXP]

Using this skill took a second or so to acc.u.mulate the correct mana type, which was quick, but it made Donis think.

'What if I use my [Mana Charging] to store Air Charged Mana?'

Following that train of thought, he emptied his extra mana bar by casting his [Geyser Body], which he found out to be the best expenditure. It also helped him train it and get used to casting it if he ever found himself in a pinch seeing how it's his only s.h.i.+eld type ability.

After charging his extra mana bar with air type mana, he could immediately use [Air Pulse] with zero delay. This actually made Donis ecstatic as he now figured out a way how to cast instantly, albeit with some preparation.

Even though Donis wanted to continue experimenting, the night eventually came to an end. There were two people who were still awake even though the rest of the house was asleep.

"Sweetie, what do you think of Donis's rapid progression?" asked Morissa taking a seat beside Korrin in his study.

"I'm not sure. It's tremendous to say the least. He's been outside practicing some sort of magic attack at some unsuspecting logs. Sure, it's not that strong just yet, but the boy is barely past the age of 10. I've never heard of anything like this before," said Korrin with his chin resting on his fists.

"I know you've been an adventurer all of your life Korrin, but the boy is a mage by nature. He's bound to create miracles you've never seen before. Also, he's part of the Magisterium of Vernaic, they're the top Academy in the kingdom! Even the royal family send their kids here, so we're bound to be awed by our little boy," gently rea.s.sured Morissa.

"Hmm. You're right sweetness," said Korrin gently caressing her hand resting on his arm. "Maybe I'm just thinking too much about the n.o.bles out there taking advantage of our boy. That event.. I still can't shake the image of Sir Corvig, and Sir Norris coming in here to tell us about it... I know not all n.o.bles are filled with bad intent, but I'm still weary."

"Listen, it's going to be okay sweetie, don't think too much about it all right now. The event shook all of us, but we cannot let it stunt his growth. He has the same look in his eye as you do when you're hard at work, you know? That ever present fervour, that manic look when you finish a piece. You two really are the same already," laughed Morissa.

"I so do not have a manic look, it's pride I tell you, pride!"

The evening died down with the two eventually bringing themselves to bed, the tension in Korrin dying down ever so slightly. Parents never truly stop worrying though, that's certain.

At the Academy, the next day.

Donis had went through the routine of the morning, keeping his pleasantries with Adel to a short greeting, as the young boy would chat the ear off of Donis. It didn't particularly irritate him, but whatever incessant babble a 10 year old could come up with, Donis didn't care.

His midday break was as luxurious as it could be, but to him luxuries mean nothing. Sure eating at a near solid gold table with floating paintings surrounding him is nice, but it didn't bring him any knowledge of the magic working in the room. It seems the bricks of the building itself are what casting the spells, so they must be stored or prepared somewhere else in the Academy.

Donis's excitement grew as the day dwindled down. He knew today was another lecture for the Genius cla.s.s, and he hoped he'd finally gain some long awaited answers.

The cla.s.s that had arrived already were all eagerly chatting amongst themselves, all ready to learn whatever the lecturer has to offer. This was their biggest chance to show off either their skill, their rigorous study schedule or just their compet.i.tiveness. They were now considered the best of the best in their year.

Donis took his usual seat and awaited the lecturer, who seemed to be running a little late. He wondered who would be a.s.signed to teaching the genius cla.s.s, because Lorenzo definitely couldn't be the one to teach them, it would be too much for them to even think of that.

Almost as soon as the thought finished, Corvig walked in. Many eyes turned to the man dressed in his never changing attire of black-white dragon faced scarf and a black suit with a white s.h.i.+rt. Donis's eyes lit up, knowing that even now, Corvig has his back.

"h.e.l.lo dear students, I am Corvig Deladare, of the Deladare Lineage. I'm here to be your lecturer for the now coveted genius cla.s.s. I will answer any and all questions that pertain to the expertise and intricacies of magic. If I do not have any answer for you, I will come back after finding out more. We will learn about some of the more difficult occupations out there, some combat jobs, and study deeply into the mysteries of the world," said Corvig with his usual teacher-esque voice that he practiced so much with Donis.

The cla.s.s erupted into quiet murmurs, excited about what's to come. No one had received any information close to what Corvig was going to tell them, how could they not be excited.

"Before we get ahead of ourselves. I will have some rules for the cla.s.s. Firstly, all, and I mean all questions will be left until after the topic is finished. I will not allow anyone to interrupt my teaching, as usually the answers will come by if you just listen. Secondly, if you have a problem with either your own abilities, or mine, come to me and speak to me in private. If you speak out loud about either of those, you will be immediately dismissed for the day. Three dismissals and you're kicked from the cla.s.s," Corvig added.

The cla.s.s quieted down after hearing him say they'll be kicked out of the cla.s.s. They didn't know it was even possible to get kicked out of an extra subject.

"Thirdly, but also lastly, I will be holding exams after every subject, and one at the end of every year. If you do not pa.s.s 3 exams in a row you will be kicked out of my cla.s.s. If you fail the end of the year exam you will be forced to stay behind a year and repeat it with a different lecturer," said Corvig, taking a seat at the desk.

The cla.s.s was a bit nervous now, uncertain of such methods. Never having heard of anything like this, they didn't know if he was being serious or not.

Donis didn't care even slightly. He knew with his unquenchable thirst for knowledge, he'd be fine. He did worry about some of the people here who seemed a little airheaded from his other cla.s.ses. The majority of the kids here at least looked like they wanted to be here.

"Okay, so first things first. Lets talk about non-combat jobs, and what they are. We have the [Blacksmith], who forges weapons and armours out of metals, leathers, and alchemical substances. These people are the backbone of every country. They not only forge weaponry, but also building materials and such. The country could never be sustained without people who work with metal. Do not look down upon them. Then there is the [Alchemist], an [Alchemist] creates concoctions of all kinds. From pills to potions. They can create world changing effects from seemingly nowhere and are some of the most prized professions out there," Corvig said, taking a small break as he watched the kids write frantically write in their notebooks.

"Okay, continuing with this, we also have the [Runeforger]. They make and creates runes. These runes can then be written upon objects, weapons, armour and even in some forbidden rituals, body parts. Runes can be used to cast spells, or special effects without having to necessarily learn them beforehand."

"In tandem with the [Alchemist] we have their best friends, the [Botanist]. Most [Alchemists] are also [Botanists], but it's not mandatory. They are experts in the study of normal and magical plants. They can distinguish the long hated [Mirr Duskflower] from the [Aurina Motla], even though they're identical in looks to the normal eye."

"[Spellwriter] is pretty obvious, I guess. Ones of such profession inscribe, write and create spells. Their skills in creating, experimenting, and understanding wills, and how the [System] works is beyond useful to the country."

"You all know of the [Merchant], some of your family members may even be as such. High haggling ability as a core trait. The ability to sell or buy things at either increased pricing, or to sell them to people who wouldn't normally buy them all make a quality [Merchant]."

"[Enchanters], someone who specializes in enchanting equipment with stat based changes, or special effects. They usually work together with [Runeforgers] when creating a piece. People who practice either usually are both though, even if they're technically separate jobs."

"Now, for the cataloguing types out there, there is the [Monster Specialist]. They are expert in the behaviour, look, tracking of monsters and their subspecies. Incredibly useful for those who go out and take missions for the guilds. Also incredibly useful to the kingdom to keep track of large groups of monsters, and their behaviours. Speaking of them, they're usually not the bookworm type of characters, they're usually the adventurer you hear about; delving deep into the forests, and monster infested dens."

The students furiously took the notes down, feeling enlightened by Corvigs explanation. They had heard of these, but never been told what they did directly. Some had never even thought about jobs before.

"Now, these are not the only jobs out there, but they're the most important to take note of right now, because you guys will be choosing one of these in the coming days, and focusing entirely on it. You won't be able to advance into the job just yet, but getting a taste of the jobs level-0 requirements should be a good head start for ye," said Corvig, trying to not scare the kids too much just yet.

He then made stacks of papers appear in front of the kids, crus.h.i.+ng their earlier enthusiasm even further.

"Sorry about this information dump on you guys, but ye had it coming."
