Hidden Hallows 94 Bright Lights

I wake up to a light breeze on my skin but when I open my eyes, all I see is white. The h.e.l.l? I slowly roll myself over on my belly and struggle to keep my head up as I try to look around but just like before, everything's white.

Why do I feel so... drunk? Is that the feeling? I blow out and slowly lower my head, closing my eyes tightly as I try to figure out what's wrong. The last thing I remember is being blasted in the face by the angel...

Did he blind me!?! Is this the gift!!? I keep my eyes closed, scared to open them, and be disappointed but before I realize it, I drift off to sleep. To be honest, I slept like a baby. It was only later that I was woken up by someone pressing something cold against my chest.

I reach out and grab a wrist, causing a guy to squeal before someone else says "She's awake!" I slowly open my eyes and nearly get blinding by the sun! Wait... the sun!! I can see!! I quickly sit up, scaring the poor guy I'm holding onto, once again.

When I look over to see the guy looking at me in fear, I quickly release his hand and blink in confusion. He's a paramedic and standing behind him is a very concerned Harris. "Holys.h.i.+t, Hallows! I thought you were dead!! What the h.e.l.l happened?"

I look around to see police tape and other police officers taking pictures of the surrounding damage but when everything starts to catch up to me, my heart nearly stops when I think about Binx and Kian.

Before I can jump up and run, I hear "We're fine." From behind me. I turn around and see Binx and Kian both watching me in silence. What the h.e.l.l... then why am I still here?! Why didn't they take me home?

As if reading the look on my face, Binx sighs and says "There's markings all around you preventing any supernaturals from touching you... including us. We had no choice but to call Harris. I told him you were alive but he..."

Harris awkwardly clears his throat and says "For the record... you'd think you were dead too if you saw yourself. You were sleeping like the dead! Facedown and all!! Even when I rolled you over, you never moved and it didn't look like you were breathing!"

This time I awkwardly clear my throat as I look down at the golden markings around me. I guess when I pa.s.sed out the first time, the feathered jerk put these around me to keep me safe from others.

I look back over to Binx and Kian to see them both still watching me silently like they were judging me for just sleeping on the roof while a powerful demon is on the loose... But when I look closer at Kian, I see the concern and worry in his eyes but he was doing his best to hide it.

I push up off the ground and start dusting myself off as I look to Harris and try to think about what to say. When I see the genuine concern and confusion, I only feel it's right to tell him and the other humans what's happening.

I sigh and say "Do you want me to say this here or..." When I look around he quickly waves me over to the stairs and says "Give us a moment." to the other surrounding police officers. When everyone else has stepped away, I start telling him about the demon and the things it's capable of doing while Binx and Kian stay close to overhear what's being said.

He starts out with a look of surprise but by the time I've finished, his face has truly gone through all the colors of a rainbow and has now settled on a greenish-white color. He runs a hand down his face with a haunted look on it and asks "Did you... did you kill it?"

I give him a look of disappointment as I shake my head and say "No, a dark hole or portal thing opened up under us and s.n.a.t.c.hed it away before closing back up and leaving me behind. I can only a.s.sume that the demon Enzo is responsible for that."

Harris slowly nods before frowning and asking "Wait... why is this demon Enzo doing all this? What does he want and did you pa.s.s out afterward or something?" Suddenly, the lightbulb goes off for him as he mumbles "You... he wants you. That's why we keep finding your name everywhere. Why? Why is this demon after you?"

I reach up and rub the back of my neck as I say "If you find out, let me know, and yeah... I pa.s.sed out or something like that..." He sighs in defeat and says "Right... I'll take care of things here but if you keep going around destroying people's buildings, I won't be able to keep covering for you!"

I look at him in confusion and say "It's abandoned!! Have you see the place!?" He looks at me with disbelief and asks "Have you!?? It's under construction Hallows!! It's supposed to be a new apartment building!"

I bite my lip and awkwardly s.h.i.+ft from foot to foot as I mumble "It was dark... sorry." I hear Binx snicker behind me as Harries rolls his eyes and says "Go home and take a shower Hallows. You're covered in... lord only knows! Go!"

I resist the urge to flip both him and Binx off as I give him a look and walk away. Halfway down the stairs, I remember my car. I cringe and stop the nearest cop as Kian steps up behind me, placing his hand on my lower back. Binx slinks pasts us on the stairs and says "See you at home!"

I hesitate for a moment before letting it go and asking "Can you tell me if you have had a car totaled in a strange accident?" He looks at me oddly before making a phone call and saying "They towed it down to the impound. They're running the tags now but I a.s.sume you're the owner?"

I sigh and say "Yeah... what do I owe?" He hands his phone to me and let's me speak to the lady. Ten minutes later and a few hundred dollars less, I have a tow truck bringing my car to my house. The guy told me she was totaled but I told him not to worry about it and to just deliver it.

When we finally leave, we only make it a block before Kian pulls me into a small ally and pins me against the wall. Before I have the chance to ask him what he's doing, his lips are on mine as his hands go to both sides of my face.
