"No..Noo.. it can't be"

One look at everyone was enough to identify their identical alarmed countenance as they watched horror-struck at the crowd following behind the demons.

Because it was their very own people but not at the same time.

It was the very same soldiers who were allocated at the lookouts before but now their entire poise changed.

They had dark red eyes bulging out, with various wounds all over their body and even some with half their flesh missing. Every single one of them was radiating a dark aura similar to that of the demons.

They were like walking zombies who only searched for humans to feed upon. They were swaying as they walked. Snarling at the species in front of them.

The soldiers who once loved their kingdom, who died for the kingdom was now being forced to attack the same kingdom they died protecting.

Just that thought alone was enough to make everyone grit their teeth hatefully at the demons.

Abruptly, a gasp was echoed around the silent stunned crowd. Liz covered her mouth as her eyes widened when she noticed a person among the crowd.

She shrieked as her eyes filled with tears, "Captain Federick."

Hearing her sceptical voice, Jinha swiftly turned his head to gaze at the direction she was watching. He gripped his spear tightly as his eyes glanced heatedly at the scene before him.

One guy, who was walking in front alongside two people, was walking towards them with a smirk on his face. His right hand gripped on a chunk of hair of a disembodied body.

As the guy walked slowly, blood was oozing out from the head he held as it dyed the ground red.

It was none other than their beloved captain. The one who joked with them often, who taught them to be kind but merciless to their enemies. The one who watched them grow into captains.

Jinha took a step forward as his body shook in fury which was building within him every second but a warning look from Freya made him bury his feet to the ground.

It made every single one of the thunder squad members ground their foot as they watched the crowd like hungry hawks waiting for their chance to plummet them.

The enemies stopped a few distances away from them, as they curiously gazed over the people waiting for them.

The guy who carried their captain's head smirked at them. He thought he would be able to disturb their mentality and thereby leading their troop to their deaths.

But, it seems like they can hold on to their anger and still think logically.

'Tch... How boring?!' Adam tutted in his mind.

The demon general laughed as she asked mockingly, "Are you puny little humans waiting for death?"

The mocking tone of her low voice was heard vividly across the field, nearly making all the soldiers lose their stand.

Even though they were only eight people with their fellow dead soldiers, the aura they emitted was enough for the soldier's souls to be shaken.

Hak shouted, "Soldiers, Steady."

As he moved a little further front, glancing at the soldiers with his sharp eyes. He narrowed his eyes when his gaze landed on Adam. He gritted his teeth tightly as his eyes gleamed viciously at him.

He was patiently waiting for his chance to topple him. It wasn't him alone, all five pairs of eyes were focused on Adam.

The demon general, Lyndel chuckled menacingly, "Look at them, glaring as if they have the strength to defeat us. But it won't be for long, as I would crush each one of you like roaches."

Her right hand, Adam glanced the crowd quietly and raised his eyebrows at the five pairs. His eyes held a hint of playfulness when his gaze pa.s.sed the five angry members. He could easily identify these five were the leaders of the kingdom.

Adam was amused as he chuckled slightly under his breath.

Eve, her left hand tilted her head and said nonchalantly, "Lord, you don't need to join this battle. Please wait here and watch your subordinates finish this battle for you."

Hearing this Freya glanced at Lyndel as she asked calmly, "Lord? Are you the one they have been waiting for decades?"

Demons have been here for as long as they can remember but, it was said that decades ago, the demon lord got injured heavily from fighting against a supreme ruler which caused him to fall into a deep slumber to recover his strength. And there was also a rumour which spread across the nations that the demon lord ordered everyone to back off until he awakens from his slumber.
