Complex Romance 34 I Will Wait For You

Today, Teresa's cla.s.s were having a party to celebrate their graduation at a friend's house. It was like a potluck party where everyone will bring some food. Teresa baked chocolate m.u.f.fins for the party. Others brought food like fried rice, cakes, french fries and so on. Everyone was very happy that they could finally relax and enjoy themselves.

Just as Teresa was talking to her cla.s.smates, she saw John walking towards them. Honestly, she felt like running away, but she knew she couldn't just go away and keep on ignoring him, it would be so rude.

After graduation, she will be leaving this town to go overseas for her further studies, in other words she will be not seeing him anymore. So, she thought that she could still be friends with him since they would not meet each other any more.

John went to Teresa and said, "Hi Teresa, can I talk to you for a second?"

Teresa was shocked that he would confront her so directly, "Sure..." She replied.

Then, the two of them walked to the playground which was opposite their friend's house. John started the conversation by saying, "So how are you lately?"

"I'm fine. It's so refres.h.i.+ng and relaxing after the finals." Teresa replied.

"Yup, I know right. Ermm..." He said as he continued, "Actually, to tell you the truth, I still like you... I know that I had hurted you before... I'm sorry... I regretted it... I know now is too late because your heart doesn't belong to me anymore. But I still don't want to give up... I really like you Teresa."

After talking, there was death silence. It was too sudden for Teresa, her mind was blank.

"John, please don't waste your time on me. I just wish for us to be friends." Teresa replied.

"Just reply to me one question. Do you have anyone you like?" John asked.

"I... I don't know... I just know that it is impossible for us."

"Okay, it's set then. Until you like actually date someone, I will forever wait for you. I won't lie again this time. I will make you fall in love with me, I will wait for you Teresa." Said John persistently.

"Then, let me tell you again. I don't like you. And it is impossible for us." Told Teresa as she wanted to knock some sense into his head.

"To wait for you is my decision, so you don't need to worry." John said as he added on, "And I want to ask you one more thing, do you want me to follow you guys on the graduation trip?"

This question surprised Teresa again, "I'm fine with anything... It's just, I'm afraid that we would be in an awkward position if you come along..." Teresa replied.

"So that's what you actually think of me...Awkward..." John mumbled.

Then he said, "Okay, since you said you will be uncomfortable if I'm going, then I won't go. You can enjoy your trip with the rest of them. I don't want to be the one to spoil your fun."

Never in a million years did Teresa think that John would actually think about others first. And made a decision because of others.

"You can go back first, I will be staying here for a while... And the reason that I chose not to go is not because I have given up on you, it's just because I want you to have a peace of mind and not bother you. I will still continue to wait for you." John said to Teresa.

She was speechless and did not want to say anything else, so she left. Just as she walked towards her friend's house, Harry came out to lead her in. When she saw Harry, there was a huge smile on her face, a smile that could brighten up someone's day. She had never shown that smile to John for a very very long time. From that moment, John knew that Teresa was no longer the Teresa that loved him...
