A week after the Corde fiasco. Carly's current residence in Callows City, downtown. Inside, a pacing figure of a young, teenage girl could be seen, her face looking a bit confused, and her eyebrows scrunched up as close as possible.

I didn't know what to do. Based on the situation, the man Xander recommended is probably the same person that caused the situation with the Corde Clan.

It was a good thing I live alone, and my family currently is able to support my studies. Although we're just a recently-established, small-sized clan with roughly 50 members, they can at least manage to develop the next generation of clan members.

Another good thing was that the freedom they give to their descendants, allowing them to pursue different degrees and focus on studies.

I unconsciously bit my lower lip, a habit of mine that I've never grown out of. I usually do this when I'm quite nervous, and well, this situation is giving me quite the distress.

Should I contact him, or not? Then again, this would be quite helpful in establis.h.i.+ng my skills and foundation.

I shouldn't let my fears cloud the obvious, rational decision to be done in this case.

I immediately dressed up and contacted the number Xander had given me. A few rings, the call was picked up, and a deep, masculine voice could be heard from her communicator.

"h.e.l.lo, who is this? Do you know what time it is in Barluth? This better be imp-" before the voice could continue, I took a deep breath and interrupted the man.

"Hi, I'm Carly Bernoult, a friend of Xander's; he told me to call you if I needed spells for creating pseudo-spells. Sorry for bothering you!" I said out loud in one breath.

Silence pervaded the conversation for the next few seconds, but for me, it felt like hours.

Then, the voice sounded once again.

"Huh, Carly… ok, got your location for now."

The call ended, confusing me. However, this confusion didn't last long as I noticed a figure appearing right in my living room, creating a dark and tall three-dimensional shadow. However, no facial expression or structure could be identified from the shadow.

The familiar voice from the call earlier sounded out from the figure.

"Carly Bernoult. Elite-9 magician. Female. Primary elements of Radiation, Wave, and Earth. Choose which element you want to select your pseudo-spells from."

"…Can I choose at least 1 spell from each of my primary elements, instead, please?" I asked since I currently lack a pseudo-spell for each primary element. I originally planned to have 3 spells of each element for pseudo-spells. I don't plan to change anymore!

"Hmm… but that's beyond the contract set between Xander and I… hmm…" the figure replied to my request, a bit uncertain.

I decided to push my luck.

"How about, um, making another contract between the two of us, then? So that you wouldn't feel burdened."

"Eh? You? What can you give to me, even?" the figure asked, his voice sounded nasal as if he was amused to hear such a thing from me.

"Uh, money?" I said hesitatingly. I really didn't know what I could offer him.

"Pfft!" a laughing sound escaped from the shadowy figure.

"You don't even have universal notes, dearie. Do you have anything else? Rare materials, antiques, heirlooms, heck, magic artifacts beyond Sage-rank would also do."

"Uh…" I was speechless. I didn't have any of those. I shook my head and then thought of an idea.

"I don't have any of those, but what I do have is my perseverance to reach greater heights," I said, my face looking solemn and serious. I was literally trying to sell my services... I don't know if I should feel sad or bad.

"Hmm…fine." Upon hearing these words, I felt elated, and at the same time, relieved.

"However! You must do me a total of three, completely unconditional favors in exchange for this. 1 pseudo-spell for each favor. A fair bargain, isn't that right?"

I hesitated for a moment, before remembering what Xander mentioned to Faykes before. References are important. If I could take a glimpse of these spells and remember them, I would have better references.

"I agree with this sir's proposition."

"Okay. Select your 3 spells. You have a total of 1 hour to select the 3 spells you are looking for for your 3 primary elements." Immediately after, a beeping sound appeared in my communicator, and I opened the file and saw the different spells being listed.

A total of 8.98 million spells, ranging from Master to G.o.d-rank. I immediately filtered for the first element, Earth, limiting it to DemiG.o.d and above rank of spells.

After filtering, I finally selected my last earth pseudo-spell after 15 minutes: [Earthen Grave]. This was based on a Magic Array, DemiG.o.d-ranked. It's a stronger version of [Cenotic Grave] but contains absorption and devouring capabilities to sustain the spell longer.

I then changed the filter for the Wave element. After 20 minutes, I placed my sights on a Divine-ranked spell, [Wave Blast Disintegrator]. It was a suitable spell for my other Wave-based spells. What this does was to create a launches a ball to a certain area where all kinds of particles, both material and immaterial, collapse, their waveforms turning into disarray once the ball detonates.

For the remaining minutes, I was focused on searching Radiation based spells, and after searching, I found another Divine-ranked spell, [Radiation Exhaustion]. This had a unique ability to clean up radioactive particles in the area, basically stabilizing their structures. This would be quite beneficial for my future career plans in Magic Archeology and Applied Magic Physics.

Although Xander did give us different books and video recordings related to our chosen careers, they were theoretical, and it was still up to them to place them into practice.

I looked up at the shadowy figure again, nodding at him.

"You're done?" the figure asked.

"Yep. My chosen spells are [Earthen Grave], [Wave Blast Disintegrator], and [Radiation Exhaustion]."

"Hmm…2 Divine-rank spells and 1 DemiG.o.d-rank spell…ok." The figure snapped his fingers, and immediately, the data file in my communicator completely disappeared, before 3 individual, encrypted files were sent.

"Please check the goods, and sign here." The figure pulled a contract out of nowhere, which was a bit surprising. Is this the legendary materialization, or even yet, a pocket s.p.a.ce storage? My eyes glittered, a bit curious, but I managed to hold it in.

I then read the contract, part by part, and seeing there weren't any problems, I signed it. It was a non-disclosure binding contract, telling me that I couldn't divulge to anyone the contents of the files I had received, whether on purpose or by accident.

Immediately, a powerful force enveloped my body, and this was quite similar to what Xander did before; I already knew what to do.

I began to Magic meditate, consolidating, and improving the size of my magic seeds. From the size of mango seed, it continued to grow and compress, and after 5 rounds, it was now the size of a small watermelon, thrice its previous size.

I checked the time and saw it took me 45 minutes to completely digest the power. I looked at the figure and quickly thanked him.

"No worries, it's part of the contract. Anyhow, the deal has been completed. If you want more information or guidance, ensure you have the proper amount of Universal notes before calling. Also, stop calling me sir, I'm not that old. Call me by my given name, Homer."

"Ok S-, I mean, Homer. Thank you very much for the deal."

"Alright, technically, you still have the capacity to choose 3 spells of a certain element. If you want to use it for reference, just call the number again to redeem them. Kay, see you when I see you." The figure quickly vanished, leaving no trace in the living room in the first place.

After a few minutes, I felt giddy. I felt I was one step closer to reaching my potential.

I really have to thank the heavens for allowing me to even make contact with Xander.

Xander…I hope one day, when you leave, I can join you by your side, supporting you all the way through.

I fixed up a small snack, watched a few episodes of Rey's Anatomy, and then headed to sleep.

The next day, Sat.u.r.day.

I woke up feeling refreshed. My body was quite relaxed, and my magic energy flow was in its optimal state.

This was a good day.

I ate a small snack for breakfast. After unlocking the encrypted files, I began watching and reading the runic writings of the spells I had chosen, carefully watching the videos frame by frame, and reading the doc.u.ments' contents, word per word.

This process of reading and watching all the materials took me a day to complete. It was quite dark outside. Originally, I planned to do the pseudo-spell inscription today, but I needed to rest for now and reach my optimal state.

Sunday morning.

I woke up, took a refres.h.i.+ng, relaxing bath, and began to other of affairs.

As the spells I had chosen were very difficult to inscribe, with two of them being magic spell matrices and one being a magic array, I began with the magic array first.

It took me 6 hours of heavy concentration to complete the array without any error onto the magic seed. Although it was quite tiring, it was very rewarding for me.

I could already feel the substantial changes in my magic spells, magic seeds, and my comprehension. The difference in the quality of spells really does impact the speed of one's cultivation.

I persevered on.

The first Divine rank spell took me 16 hours to combine, as I almost made a severe error in the inscription process. I already prepared my excuse letter to the school so I could use the remaining time today and tomorrow to combine the last spell. The good thing, however, was that I was able to gain experience in magic matrices.

Time pa.s.sed. It was Monday afternoon. I finally made it. After 15 hours of inscription, it was done. This time, no flaws were made, allowing me to continue the making of the spell seamlessly.

With all my spells ready, I should try formulating my first Master cla.s.s spell. Hmm, I should integrate the 3 primary elements of mine for this, then.

I happily proceeded with my day, looking forward to the things to come.
