After a little more pointless discussion the meeting was over, and I felt a little tired. I had no idea how many hours it had been. However, when I'd first gotten to this city the sun was up, and now the sun wasn't up. It was nighttime again.

At some point, I had tuned everything out and was formulating a plan to train the guards and the soldiers. The most important point was that I only had three days to whip the guards into shape.

Not only that but to do that it would require a lot of effort if they are weak. I had an unfair advantage in my strength and abilities due to being born a Vampire child. Naturally stronger and then not to mention the h.e.l.lish training that I experienced. It is safe to a.s.sume that what my family had done when training me would get child services called on them.

Yet, that training had whipped discipline in my body and my mind. It was not a stretch to say that I had been molded into a monstrous child.

Taking that into consideration my training method might not be suitable for humans. I would have to modify the training. I had no desire to kill the guard in the process. That would defeat the purpose of my task.

Not to mention the possibility of me becoming a target for extermination.

Lost in thought, I didn't notice that the meeting was finally over. Until Theodora shook my shoulder and drew me out of my thoughts.

"The meetings over, shall we retire for the night?" Theodora asks.

I nod my head and cast a final glance towards Odd. We meet eyes and I feel like I am looking into the abyss. There was more to him than meet the eye and I felt my battle-hungry soul stir.

He looks away first bringing another bottle to hip lips and drinking more booze. What an interesting character!

"Come on," Theodora says.

Her voice was soft but demanding. Not lingering any longer, I turn and follow behind her. The loud noise of the people working had completely died down. It seems that everyone had turned in for the night.

I didn't see Thorn anywhere, but I was glad that man doesn't seem to hold a warm feeling for me. Not that many people had a warm feeling to me in general. At the end of the long hour spent in the meeting.

I had only managed to raise Theodora and the Guild Master Odd's favorability to me. Theodora was now at a 43% favorability towards me. While Odd's had not even budged that far. His was at a 17% favorability. I had only managed to increase his by two more percent.

Talk about low earning for today. My body was stiff from standing still so long to top it off.

Exiting the quiet building. I sucked in a deep breath of the fresh air. The tension in the room was stifling, it felt impossible to breathe in there.

"We'll be heading to my residence," Theodora says. Outside the building a simple carriage was waiting for us.

Padding forward she wraps her hand around the handle and pulls it open. Without hesitation she climbs in and I follow behind her. Grabbing the handle, I shut the door tightly.

Sitting back into the comfortable carriage seats. I felt the tension slowly leave my body. No longer under the constant watch of those four monsters, I felt better.

"I'm sorry that you had to stand and listen to all of that," Theodora says. She broke the silence that had engulfed the carriage.

"It's not a problem. I am just glad that I got to keep my neck. Lady Lowell seemed intent on taking my head from my neck," I say smirking.

Theodora lowers her head and those violet eyes of her look torn. After a moment, she raises her head and looks towards me.

"That was out of line on her part. She has taken great liberties since this all began," she sighs.

I raise an eyebrow. Could that possibly be a cue for me to ask her about that?

"Liberties?"

She pauses, but after a moment she raises a hand and cups her face.

"Lady Lowell holds control over the mage society within the town. Whereas Devos is in control of the soldiers and the military force. Odd is the Guild Master for the adventures Guild. While my father manages the affairs of the City."

"With the increase in Goblin activities mages have become even more important to use [detection] and their mage spells give us range defense. Not only that but not just battle mages, even the healers are under her control.

A power struggle is being brought to the forefront. Although, Lady Lowell is loyal to my Father. That doesn't mean that she wouldn't do anything that didn't benefit her. It seems that you have caught her attention. No doubt she is angry that we didn't execute you."

Ah… she really was a b.i.t.c.h then!

It seems like there is more than just the problem of the Goblins invading, afoot. A political power struggle was the last thing that was needed in this situation.

"In essence you're worried that your father supporting not killing will come back to bite him?" I ask.

"That makes it seem quite curt when you put it that way. But, yes," she nods her head.

I lean back and smile to myself. Nothing could be simple?

Did that mean I should be on the lookout for someone trying to a.s.sa.s.sinate me?

The rest of the carriage ride was quickly pa.s.sed in silence and contemplation. I had to do something! I did not want to get stabbed in the back or be constantly on the lookout for someone trying to murder me.

Twiddling with my thumbs, I come to the conclusion that I had to smooth this over or kill someone. Though killing her would probably make things more difficult…

I was not opposed to it if it meant that I survived. That was a bit callous, but I did not care.

"We're here," Theodora says as the carriage comes to a stop.

Pus.h.i.+ng the door to the carriage open she quickly gets out. I follow suit and get out, as well. We had arrived at a large house that was gated all the way around it. It was similar to a Victorian style mansion.

The butler, Thorn, was standing at the entrance with the door opening waiting for us. He gives a warm smile to Theodora, and a cold glare to me.

I want to laugh. It was really hard to not find him amusing. Almost everyone here had a hatred towards Vampires. What a lovely challenge the Temple had laid out.

I wonder was it teaching me adversity training? Because this was nothing! I was used to the nasty looks and dirty glares. If this was supposed to tear down my soul and lead me into despair… the temple would have to try harder.

"Welcome back My Ladys.h.i.+p," Thorn says.

'Thank you. Have you had dinner prepared?" She asks.

"Yes, I had the chefs prepare it. Would you like to eat in the dining room or are you retiring to your room for now?" He asks as we entered the mansion.

"I'll be taking dinner in my room. Hollis shall I have dinner brought to your room?" She asks looking at me.

Thorn continues to glare at me from behind her.

Smiling I direct my attention to her. "I'll be fine with having it in my room," I say.

She nods her head and turns back towards Thorn.

"I'll have her take the room across from mine. Please bring it to our rooms," she states simply as she walks forward towards a staircase.

I follow behind her and give Thorn a bright smile. His eyes are shooting venomous dagger at me. What a simple man to rile up!

Climbing the stairs, I can tell that Theodora just about at the end of her rope. She looks ready to pa.s.s out.

We take a right at the stairs and head down the hallway pa.s.sing about four doors before we stop. Motioning to the left she points to a simple but grand wooden door.

"You can borrow this guest room. The maid will bring your food to you. If you need anything then please feel free to knock on my door. I'm right there," she points to the room directly across from me.

"If you don't need me. Then I will see you in the morning. I'll introduce you to the guard's tomorrow morning that you need to train for Father," she says with a small nod of her head.

Her violet eyes are half-lidded and I can tell that she's going to be asleep rather promptly.

"Thank you, I'll see you in the morning," I say giving her a small bow.

She nods her head. "Sleep well," she says as she crosses the hallway and opens her door. Watching the door close, I look around the hallway. But I don't sense anyone or anything.

Turning I twist the handle to the door in front of me and walk into the room.

"Light," I mutter. To my delight the room lights up. It seems like it was advanced enough to use magic to power the lights in the room.

Walking around the room, I find that it is decently furnished. The bed rest on the far wall of the room, and besides the bed is a door. I'm going to a.s.sume that is the bathroom.

To the right of the door that I came in through is a fireplace that has a couch that positioned in front of it. A small table sits in between the couch and the fireplace. There are a few books that are neatly aligned on the table.

Past that on the wall in front of me is a huge bookshelf and then there are also two dressers. It was a nice room. Very suitable to guests.

Knock~

Knock~

Turning back towards the door, I open it and find that a maid is standing with a tray of food in her arms. She's cute.

Her hair is a fluffy brown that in a cute bob, and a simple headband that black and white rest on her head. Her fingers are delicate and hold the tray with a silver covering firmly.

"I've brought your food, Miss," she says politely.

I stand to the side and allow her to enter the room. Without wasting a second she sets the food down onto the table in front of the fire. Being careful to not hit any of the books with her tray.

Standing she turns and walks back towards me and gives a small bow.

"Miss do you need anything else?" She asks me. Her eyes are a soft brown and she looks at me with curiosity.

"No, Thank you. You can leave now," I tell her. Ushering her out of the door. I quickly shut it and let out a sigh.

Now onto the main event. Stretching, I make my way over to one of the windows and test to see if I can open it. It opens with ease and I smile to myself.

Time to go and see the city!
