Even though they had been fairly relaxed on the way back, still there was even more an air of just not being too concerned with any possibility of danger. Lumna had always been rather safe though. Perhaps even the second safest of the kingdoms, after Carendlus.
Arrion seemed to also be rather happy to be near his beloved home, and had started to whistle happily. It brought a smile to her face to listen to her beloved shapes.h.i.+fter's joyful noise.
Still it took them a while to make it back to the castle, as it was a three day trip by horseback. But being in Lumna again made it so that they could really converse easily without any worries, making it seem rather pleasant.
Dawn spent much of those last three days of the trip conversing with Arrion, though she also tried talking to their other companions. She actually found herself thinking that she would miss them.
Well, the two priests would be close by but the others would head back to their respective kingdoms.
Dawn had noticed something that had surprised her in the last few days. It was pertaining to their scouts. She was pretty sure that there was something going on between Lowks and Vixen, or at least she had noticed several looks between them. More than just looks, Lowks had also seemed to mellow out a little and she had not even heard him scolding Vixen at all. Which was pretty odd considering that it had been a common occurrence.
Dawn had not clarified what was going on between the two as she honestly did not think it was any of her business. She had just noticed it, and she was pretty sure they were not trying to hide it, just they did not draw too much attention to it. Considering what she had pretty much concluded Lowks's personality to be, this seemed pretty natural though.
She was much more concerned with her own feelings towards her husband. That was her business and so took precedence over other things that were not related to her at all.
And she was so very relieved to be back home. Seeing the tall spires of the Lumna Castle she felt so very glad to be back.
She invited their companions to stay a while before going home to take news of their successful mission back to their homelands. Everyone agreed to stay the night at the castle, but how long was a bit more varied.
She was not too surprised that no one was planning on staying longer than three days. The scouts barely even wanted to stay the night, Lowks in particular seemed rather impatient to get home.
Dawn did not stick around to listen very long to their conversations though. She just stayed long enough to be polite but left as soon as it would not be rude, dragging her social husband with her.
Despite the fact that normally her husband was a rather sociable creature he let her drag him away with only some token protests. In fact as soon as they were not in sight of their companions, he even stopped making any protests, token or otherwise. Instead he kept pace with her with no reluctance to be seen.
She felt warm inside just thinking she could sleep beside of him tonight. After so long of not being able to she really looked forward to wrapping him up in a hug to sleep.
It was fairly late, so it was not that odd that they were retiring to their room, not that anyone would have said anything even if it was.
Arrion tucked her into bed gently, before climbing in beside of her and just wrapping his arms around her and proceeding to kiss her deeply. He seemed surprisingly relaxed, when she was a mess of emotions.
But that was okay with her. No saying how much he was just hiding his own fl.u.s.ter.
It really was good to be back home. To just have the privacy of their own room.
