All she was concerned about was Lei Xinyi being out of Li Yuan's life so she didn't investigate too.
A sharp panged rose in her heart, she could feel the shattering of her soul. She wrapped her arms around herself to create an illusion of protection.
Su Qing took a shaky breath and broke out in sobs, "She is de...dead! My only friend, my only sister is dead! You killed her! If you hadn't forced her to leave her hiding, she would be alive. You killed her!"
With her shaky hands, she covered her tear strained face, "Was it for Li Yaun?! A brutal cold-hearted b*tch couldn't take a rejection?! So, yo..you killed the only person keeping me alive!"
There was no lie in this Lei Xinyi and Su Qing were both broken women living for the other with the pretext of a younger brother, He Zheng that they had adopted.
Su Qianwei breaths came in small pants and a sharp pain erupted in her head, she could feel excessive sweating and her teeth clenching. Her throat parched like a desert.
Looking at her sister call Lei Xinyi her only sister was a slap to her face when she was standing right in front of her. It stung more than the names she called her...
But it was as true as their existence, she hadn't been her sister since the incident years ago after what she had done to Yu Jian and Su Qiang...but she couldn't undo it. No matter how softly the fact was killing her.
Yu Jian who was standing there defenceless came forward to take Su Qing by the arm but she jerked away in repel like his touch burnt her.
She looked at him in pure hatred, like he had betrayed her. She pointed a shaky finger at him, "You! You too killed her! All of you killed her. Yo...You forced her to leave! All of you ruined her."
He Zheng eyes teared, just before his eyes turned hard. He took out the syringe from his pocket and looked at Yu Jian and nodded.
It was time. He didn't want to ever use it on her but he wouldn't let his other sister lose her head to grief in front of him while one was fighting for her life somewhere...
Yu Jian forcefully held her arm while Su Qing shouted and fought the hold. He Zheng injected the tranquillizer in her, "Shh...It's okay. Everything is going to be alright. I will not let any soul on earth harm, my sisters." He whispered all the sweet comforting words, he could think of.
They had cared for him all his life and now it was his turn to take care of them.
Gradually Su Qing thras.h.i.+ng calmed and she went limp in Yu Jian arms. Yu Jian looked at the only woman he had ever loved and his heart clenched in heartbreak. He pressed a lingering kiss on her forehead and carried her in his arm.
She had a long tough night she needed her rest. He sighed in frustration and helplessness.
He wanted to shout to heaven for why life was so cruel to them? The only woman he wished to cherish was wrecked to no return.
He nodded at the frozen, shaking Su Qianwei, who was hugging herself and her eyes glazed with no focus and took Su Qing with him.
He Zheng looked at the woman left with him and squinted his eyes. There was something wrong with her.
In fact, It looked like there was something very wrong. He made a mental note to look at her profile and whereabouts then walked out.
He would need to look out for her too. Though she wasn't his sister but she was Su Qing half-sister and Lei Xinyi's cousin. Under the veils of hatred, they would die for each other.
The shutting of the door gave Su Qainwei a jolt and her breathing got even severe. Hot flashes and chills ran through her body. The jittering in her legs threw her on the floor. It hurt her knee caps but nothing hurt more than her heart.
All her life she did things for other's comfort but nothing ever brought her comfort.
Her earlier life of oblivion was spent in pleasing her parent but they were never satiated. Even then nothing was enough so she pushed herself like a rug just to see them smile pridefully at her.
Then she fell for a man. She spent her youth fantasizing about him. The only man in the room that brought that giddy feeling in her stomach, who made her feel like no other but, no. Even he only thought of her as a friend. What a slap was it on her youthful face then!
But she gave him time. She dressed up for him to notice her on every occasion. Was she not beautiful enough? Was she not his match? Every climb she did was in pursuit to reach him but he was still too far away.
And when finally she was ruined by that Lei b.a.s.t.a.r.d. She had to be his p.a.w.n for the exchange of her breaths. Everything for others.
In the end, what was she left with? Nothing but pain, lasting pain from gus.h.i.+ng wounds!
She was just a p.a.w.n, would be discarded when she was no more needed. Couldn't her sister, mother or the man she called her father all her life, just pretend till then? Was she not even worth pretending?
She had no one to fall back to, no pillar to warm her. She was a strayed and broken doll.
No one really wanted her, her mere presence was enough to cause people to despise her.
Was it her fault that she was the proof of her mother's infidelity? Was it her fault that she had to save the life of her sister on the cost of her sister's happiness? Or was it her fault she wasn't brave enough like Lei Xinyi to defy the world and destroy her life.
But she had found the way to the comfort she deserved. She crawled with her misty eyes on her knees and reached the drawer in the further corner of the room.
Last time, one last time.
She promised herself like she always did but then again every last time became second last time and she did it again.
The only thing that she did for herself.
With jittery fingers, she took out a zipper bag with a white powdery substance. As she slowly consumed it the substance consumed her to...
Momentarily the world couldn't hurt her, life couldn't break her. At this moment she was invincible. Nothing could break the gla.s.s doll she was under the hard stone exterior.
