Exhausted she lets herself sink into her bed and takes off her danced ballerinas with her feet.
Ares kept his word with one dance but who could have guessed that one dance could last so long?
Liz felt as if she was one of the princesses from the fairy tale "The shoes that were danced to pieces" of the Brothers Grimm.
The movie "Barbie in The Twelve Dancing Princesses" was based on that fairy tale.
Only with the difference that the princesses met real princes instead of golden statues at their retreat.
In the course of the story, however, it turned out that these princes are in fact demons who want to kill the princesses.
'How ironic.' Liz thought to herself.
'Ares is my demon prince and I am one of those naive princesses. Too bad I am not the real gullible princess.'
A confident smile spread across Liz's face.
Lost in thought, Liz went over the plan again.
Ares and she would change their outward appearance with the help of an ally sorcerer from Ares side.
Then they would wait until nightfall and then wait in a dark alley.
Although the probability is small that they will meet slave traders of all things instead of other criminals but it is worth a try.
Ares' men are secretly following all of this.
Not long after Liz fell asleep.
Liz was tossing and turning like crazy in her sleep and her legs were twitching restlessly.
In her dream, a voice kept telling her that history must not repeat itself and each time the voice became louder as well as more restless.
"No." Liz shrieked.
Beads of sweat flowed down her forehead.
'It was just a dream.' Liz tried to calm down herself.
All of a sudden the door of her bed chamber was ripped wide open and Ethan rushed in with a frying pan.
He held it like it was a loaded gun.
"What is going on here?" Ethan inquired as he cautiously inspected Eleanor's/Liz's bed chamber.
"I just had a nightmare." Liz admitted it ashamed.
Ethan's face softened as he heard it and he sat on Liz's side of the bed.
"It is alright. It was just a dream." Ethan rea.s.sured Liz and took her in his arms.
"Why do you have a frying pan with you?" asked Liz to lighten the atmosphere.
"Hey, never underestimate the power of a frying pan. You never know where the next intruder will come from." Ethan pushed out with a big grin and he winked at Liz.
"How true." she tuned in.
They both then burst out laughing.
"Do you want to talk with me about the nightmare?" Ethan asked with a distressed look on his face.
Liz heaved a deep sigh and she started to recount her dream to Ethan.
For a brief moment, Ethan froze, then he regained his composure.
Ethan leaned over to Liz and flicked at her forehead.
"Don't break your empty thick skull over this dream." he teased her and left her bed chamber with his tongue stretched out.
"Who's got an empty thick skull?" Liz poked out in anger and threw a pillow at him.
But deep inside she knew this was his way to cheer her up and a warm feeling mantled her heart which she of course would never admit.
….
The following day
"What is so funny?" asked Ares pressed with narrowed eyes.
"Pfff … You as a girl. You just look so incredibly good. I mean it." Liz squeezed out and tried to suppress another laugh.
In order that Ares could accompany Liz, Ares was transformed into a girl.
He had flaming red hair and amber eyes whereas Liz had shoulder – length black hair with hazel eyes.
"I never knew my fiancée had such perverse qualities in her." chided Ares jokingly.
"I must have gotten that from my fiancé." Liz countered.
"Touché." Ares retorted.
"I mean my fiancée." Liz corrected herself and a silly grin emerged on her face.
Ares brows ceased.
He could not help but feel jealous of his feminine self that she could give such a charming smile to his fiancée.
All his male ego got were wry and contrite smiles.
Maybe he should cross dress as a girl more often just to get that smile?
…
"Are you ready?" inquired with Liz.
"Ready as I'll ever be." Liz replied.
