"It's a witch's breath." A melodious voice informed.
Elize turned around to the direction of the familiar voice.
"The Spirit of Ruah Yareach!" She exclaimed excitedly.
Before her, stood a blindingly beautiful figure of the familiar woman. Dressed in yards of pure white silk, the figure of the woman was nothing short of luminous. But this time, there was something different with the appearance of the spirit. Elize narrowed her eyes at the woman's long flowy hair. Oddly, it was not in the familiar shade of blonde.
"That's a long name don't you think? If we're going to meet this often, then we should figure out something smaller for you to call me." The woman said in her bell like voice. With a slight smile, she started playing with her long tresses which were now in a dark shade of black, similar to that of Elize's own hair.
"Do you have a name?" Elize asked, keeping her eyes trained on the long dark silk-like hair of the spirit.
"Hmm. That's a good question." The woman said, turning away from the young witch. She started to walk across the field without answering the question. Taking the hint, Elize quickly followed behind the woman, trying to keep up. After walking for what seemed like at least a few minutes, the woman stopped. Elize peeped from behind the tall figure of the woman. Before them was an ornate pavilion, made of what looked like white marble with gold and turquoise inlays. Elize looked towards the woman who smiled down at her and then continued to walk towards the pavilion. Elize followed behind. Taking a seat on one of the cus.h.i.+ons placed on the floor, the woman motioned for her to do the same. Elize obliged.
Leaning towards her right side on a decorated cus.h.i.+on, the woman continued, "I am known by many names across many cultures. But you can call me Luna, if that's easy on your tongue."
Elize smiled awkwardly. "I guess I can go with that." She paused, and looked around her. "Where am I?"
The beautiful woman laughed. It sounded like a hundred bells ringing, beautiful yet frightening at the same time. Elize s.h.i.+vered slightly. Noticing the girl's reaction to her laughter, the woman immediately quieted down and settled into a warm smile. "You don't recognize the place? You've been here once before. This my girl is spirit realm." She said, waving her hands around.
Elize's eyes widened in shock. The place didn't look anything like how it did last time that she was here. As far as she remembered, the place had looked like a sea of blue roses. Now all she could see beyond the intricately decorated pavilion was a valley full of the star like flower that the woman called Luna had called the witch's breath. What kind of place was this? "It is not the same as the last time. The flowers- they're different." Elize paused looking around herself. She continued "And this pavilion was not here earlier."
The woman tilted her head to the side, seemingly amused by Elize's expression. Elize looked down, suddenly feeling conscious of herself. Did she say something inappropriate?
"That is because this time, you're in a different part of the realm. You're in my home. The last time we met, we were outside the palace premises." The woman said, stretching body.
Elize thought for a while. If what the woman said was true, did that mean that there was a reason that she was inn a different part of the realm? She decided to ask subtly his time, rather than asking her bluntly like last time. If she was dead, it was better to know of it. Elize thought.
"Ohh. So is this where people come after they die?" She asked, looking at the woman in front of her intently, hoping to tease the answer out of her.
"That is one way to look at it. But not all who die reach here." Luna explained, ignoring her stare. "But you aren't dead if that's what you're asking."
Elize sighed, relieved. But now her attention was on the other information that the spirit gave out. What did she mean by 'not all who die reach here'? Does that mean that this place was like a final resting place for meritorious people? Wouldn't that make this woman some sort of higher ent.i.ty? A spirit wouldn't have a lavish realm of her own now would she? She looked up at the woman whose figure was languidly draped across the various brocade cus.h.i.+ons. She looked nothing short of a G.o.ddess. Wait, was she a G.o.ddess? Was a spirit different from a G.o.ddess? Questions formed in her mind, but Elize kept it to herself. She'd have time to ask later. Now she needed to know why she was here. She thought to herself.
"Umm why did you call me here?" Elize asked, awkwardly playing around with the ta.s.sles on the luxurious table cover in front of her.
"I didn't."
Elize was shocked. "What? Then how did I-?" Her mind wandered, unable to think of any other possibility. She clearly remembered being in her room, lying in Zack's arms while he was telling her something about a party.
The sound of clothes ruffling drew her attention back to the woman in front of her. Luna had stood up from her seat, her flowy white gown fluttering around her. A slight wind was blowing from the direction where they came from, gently caressing Elize's skin.
"I see a change in the course of the wind. But it has not picked up speed till now." Luna's melodious voice resounded in the empty pavilion like a prophecy.
Elize looked at the eerily beautiful woman in a confused manner. What was she going on about? "Luna?" She called.
As if being woken up from a trance, the woman shook her head and looked at Elize curiously. "What is it my child?"
"What about the wind?" Elize asked, curious.
"Hmm?" The woman asked, acting like she didn't know what the young witch was talking about.
Elize shook her head. The woman was probably talking gibberish. She had to stay focused if she was going to go back to Zack. She thought. "How did I come here?"
Luna broke into a beautiful smile. "Come here, let me see." She said, motioning towards Elize to come closer.
Elize got up from her seat and walked across the carpeted wooden floor, until she reached the woman. Luna's long pale hands reached out to caress her face. Elize leaned in, enjoying the warm feeling that was coursing through her.
"I see that you have found the Dam Sehlah." The woman whispered into her ears in an amused tone.
Elize looked up at the woman, her brows creased in confusion. The what?
