'Zack! Help me!' She reached out through her mind link, ducking a tree branch.
There was no reply, once again. As she jumped a puddle, she saw a clearing ahead with a huge mansion slowly appearing in the middle of it. It vaguely looked like the pack house. But why was the pack house in the middle of the jungle? And why did it look so different? Elize thought as she lunged forward. She could feel the wolves close in on her.
In her desperation, she jumped over another fallen tree. But this time she wasn't so lucky. Her feet caught on a vine and she tripped, falling face down in a puddle. Suddenly it started raining in torrents. What was happening? Elize was confused. Just a moment ago, the sun was s.h.i.+ning bright through the the gaps in the trees. A sense of de ja vu gripped her heart.
She quickly tried to get up, but it was too late. A dark shadow loomed over her being. She looked up to see a pair of fiery red eyes staring down at her from the giant body of the familiar wolf-like creature. Grey pallid skin stretched on its muscular body which was grotesquely distorted.
Elize felt sick looking at it.
Suddenly it opened its mouth, revealing huge canines smeared with blood. Elize s.h.i.+vered at the sight.
"Hear my plea oh spirits of my ancestors, take this evil and engulf it in fire." She whispered frantically.
The spell was not working- again! Elize panicked.
The creature chuckled, in a throaty sound. It's expression suddenly changed as it narrowed its eyes at her and barked ferociously.
"Zack!" Elize called out.
There was no reply. By heavens! Was anyone going to save her?! Elize thought frantically. She inched back against a tree as the creature leaned in towards her.
"Zack help!" She screamed as the creature's teeth were about to sink into her shoulders.
Elize bolted up from her bed in shock. She sat on the queen sized bed, clutching her sheets. Sweat trickled down the sides of her face onto her neck. Her t-s.h.i.+rt was completely drenched in it. Her chest was heaving up and down heavily, as if she had run a marathon. It was the same dream again. Tonight was her third time seeing it. Why was it recurring? What was that creature? Elize thought, a s.h.i.+ver running down her spine as she recalled its deep red eyes.
She looked around the familiar surroundings. She was back in her own mansion. Elize sighed, as a deep longing grasped her heart. She wanted to be with her mate. She wanted to be back at the pack house. The place had started to grow on her. Why was she back anyway? She thought. Elize slid off from her bed, pus.h.i.+ng the heavy blanket away from her. The coldness of the wooden floor reminded her once more of Zack's room. She walked toward the door, only to find it ajar. Light swept in from the other side of the room through the crack. Her eyebrows shot up in question. Who was in the house? Her heartbeats started getting quicker, thinking of the possibility of someone sneaking into her house. Did Alpha Li come to get her? Or worse- what if it was the creature from her nightmare?! She raised her hand defensively and started a spell.
"Oh spirits of my ancestors," She paused. Something was off. She couldn't feel her magic.
The scenes of past days kept flooding back into her head. For a moment, she had forgotten that she had lost all her powers, thanks to that big red stone.
"Great." She cursed under her breath.
Elize took a deep breath and stood on tip toes. Then with great care, she opened the door slightly without making a sound. Peeping through the gap, she ensured that no one was in the hallway. She then slid out of the room sneakily, crouching down against the wall and moving across the corridor in silence, all the while keeping an eye on the ground floor. Elize raised her brows in confusion. There was no sign of movement there. She quietly raised herself up from her position and walked towards the edge. She leaned against the railing, to get a clearer picture of what was happening downstairs.
"Looking for something?" Someone whispered against her ear.
Elize jumped back in surprise.
It was Agatha, with a huge grin plastered on her face. She stood there with both hands on her waist, raising her brows in question. Elize rolled her eyes. She had worried for nothing. Her imagination was getting wilder by the day.
"Not particularly." She replied with a shrug, pausing for a moment. Then narrowing her eyes at the blonde witch, she asked, "Actually, what happened at the pack house?"
Agatha shook her head and raised her hand, as if she didn't want to talk about it. She then said, "Long story short, things got a little bit heated and we had to get you out of there."
Elize c.o.c.ked her head to the side while looking at the witch. With a doubtful expression, she asked, "Did the spell work?"
Agatha nodded her head. "Yup. Pretty much."She replied.
"Oh…" Elize said, staring at her hands. She raised her hand once more, hoping to perform a spell.
Agatha quickly grabbed her hand. With an awkward smile, she said, "Yeah I wouldn't try that. You're basically human right now."
The young witch's eyes widened in surprise."Wait, what?!" She exclaimed.
If the spell had worked like Agatha said, then why was she a human?! She was supposed to get her powers back! Elize thought desperately. Although the magic that flowed within her had only earned her hatred and dark looks all her life, everything had changed after she came to the Island. Finally she had gotten used to her powers, only to lose it? Her face dropped in sadness.
"Well, why don't we go over to Aileen's house?" Agatha asked, reaching out to hold her friend's shoulders. Forcing her to look into her eyes, she said in a serious tone, "There are a few things that you should know."
"I don't feel like walking anymore." Elize replied, looking away.
Agatha sighed. She then pushed Elize towards the huge windows on the second floor and said, "C'mon, I'll fly you over."
Elize nodded absentmindedly as her friend opened the window. The cool breeze of the moonlit night slid through her hair, fluttering her silky long strands. A long howl sounded in the quiet of the night, echoing through the Island, reaching her ears. She looked towards the direction of the pack house longingly, as her friend whispered a quick spell.
Unbeknownst to her, a pair of fiery red eyes focused on Elize at the open window. A low guttural sound escaped its throat as the creature slid its hands down to its throbbing member.
