Chapter 124: Jiang He Tames A Beast
Translator: EndlessFantasy Translation Editor: EndlessFantasy Translation
All at once, a thousand thoughts crossed Jiang He’s mind.
“As the saying goes, failure is the mother of success, and truth could only be reached by doing it!”
“The beast-taming technique I developed myself is only all-talk. Now that I’ve tested it several times, I finally realized its flaws and shortcomings.”
He looked ahead.
The panther had promptly rolled around and risen to its feet, bursting out its rank-seven advanced aura as it growled, glaring warily at Jiang He.
“Human, why did you attack me?”
Though unable to speak, rank-seven Ferals could speak spiritually. Still, Jiang He had experienced that before with the Leopard Python, and therefore was not surprised.
He stared at the panther, his eyes twinkling.
The panther...
Is so cool!
And so imposing.
Moreover, it was not weak. How grand would his house look if it were guarding it?
And it could also be used as a mount.
Those thoughts left him rather distracted.
Meanwhile, the panther seized its chance, and lunged at Jiang He, its form turning into a single dark line.
All big cats are adept at speed in the first place, and they became even more agile after Ferals. That was especially the case for this rank-seven advanced panther—with a single burst of speed, it lunged over a hundred meters forward.
“Nice charge!”
Jiang He came to his senses then, but stood his ground without evading the creature, laughing. “I know you Ferals have strong pride and would never want to become a human’s pets. It is only by beating you half to death that you understand how precious life is!”
After all, that was how it was often written in the novels.
The plot always goes like this for the protagonist: When they go out in the wild to train, they would run into some divine beast, dragon or whatnot that holds disdain for the protagonist and humans in general because of their n.o.ble bloodlines... but after several clashes, the protagonist would ultimately instill fear upon them, conquering and subjugating them.
Of course, there was also the plot of releasing of a king’s imposing charisma that subjugates all beasts.
With a burst of True Qi, the silhouettes of binary suns arose.
Charging Indestructible Diamond and shrouding himself beneath Nature Qi, Jiang He allowed the panther to lunge at him as much as it wanted.
Screech!
With a sound that was no different from nails of a chalkboard, the panther’s razor-sharp talons kicked up sparks over the protective Nature Qi, with the creature itself sent flying backwards.
However, its body flipped around mid-air to land on a large tree, and with another angry growl, it charged again.
This time, the panther was quicker than before—a soft gust encircled its form, and the cold glint of blood flashed over its claws.
Rawr!
On the other hand, a dragon’s roar and an elephant’s trumpeting could be heard over Jing He’s body, just as vague images of a dragons and an elephant appeared around the binary suns behind him.
Dragon Elephant Prajna, unleashed.
His fingers spread apart; Jiang He struck a palm into the air.
Boom!
The air exploded.
That palm was not a move taken from the Eighteen Dragon Subduing Palms, nor was it showy—it was nothing more than an average slap, but buffed with Jiang He’s abundant True Qi and his brutally powerfully physicality, how strong could that slap be?
The panther, which talons was about to tear through the protective Nature Qi felt as if the skies above were cras.h.i.+ng down over it, and hence looked up by instincts.
Slap!
Jiang He slammed the creature into the floor with a single palm.
Crunch.
There was a sound of bones breaking as its backbone was crushed.
The panther howled in anguish, feeling its organs rupturing. Blood shot out of its mouth and nostrils as it landed, sprawled over the ground, breathing out more than in like a dying pup.
“A mere rank-seven advanced, daring to show off in my face... eh?”
Jiang He was about to unleash another palm when his expression changed, sensing the panther’s lifeforce rapidly diminis.h.i.+ng.
“Are you really rank-seven?” He exclaimed in shock. “Why are you so weak?”
“No, no, no...”
“I’ve decided to take you as my pet. You can’t just die like that!”
Glug~
The panther sputtered another jaw-full of blood.
Its entire being... was utterly dumfounded.
What the heck?
The human was clearly just a rank-six. How could he be this terrifying?
Playing the pig to devour a tiger... or indeed, devour a panther?
‘So this is how I die... don’t you even know that you’ve just killed me? What nonsense are you spouting blindly?’
Hence, the panther felt its eyelids grow ever heavier, its body turning ice cold and losing all senses, its consciousness fading...
But in the next split second, it felt that human firmly pinching open its jaws, before sticking a thick, huge object inside. What consciousness remained jolted the panther, granting it a second wind and a heart of resistance.
It wanted to spit out that thick, huge thing.
And yet... It simply could not do it. Instead, the entire object was stuffed inside!
The human was too strong!
Beside it, Jiang He was wiping his forehead.
He couldn’t help breathing a long sigh of relief as he felt the panther’s vigor strengthening.
What good luck...
He managed to stick the whole eggplant in.
The vegetable should be able to drag the big kitty back from the verge of death, right?

Meanwhile, back at the small mountain creek.
Worry was written all over Mu Wanqiu’s face.
Why was there no commotion now?
Why hasn’t Jiang He return? Did he run into some danger?
The embers in the barbeque rack was slowly dying out, but the fish was not yet fully cooked. Hence, getting a sudden flash of inspiration, she wrapped her own fire-type power around the fish... in moments, its fishy sweetness was overflowing.
Mu Wanqi tore out a piece of its flesh and chewed on it.
It was delicious!
As if discovering a whole new world, she picked up a few meat skewers and baked them with her powers too.
“So superpowers can be used this way...”
She muttered as she took a bite off one of the smoked meats... well, it was a little burnt since she put in too much heat, but that was fine. All she needed to do was adjust the temperature, and since she had not awakened recently, she could control her own flames as she intended.
Jiang He stepped out of the dark night then, looking envious as he watched Mu Wanqiu grill meat with her own powers.
He has to get fire-type powers now.
That way, things would be more convenient when he was out in the wild, and he wouldn’t have to bring a barbecue rack.
Behind him, the panther trilled once.
Pow!
Jiang He slapped the cat into the ground, scolding, “Did I tell you to purr, rascal?”
“What?
“You want some meat?
“Get out of here and eat gra.s.s instead!”
[Rule four of beast-taming: change the nature of Ferals.]
Since this was the very first pet he tamed, Jiang He had to discipline it well.

Fifty miles away, on one of the peaks.
The man in traditional Chinese clothing furrowed his brow as he stared out into the dark, distant night.
“There’s a fight over there...” He said.
Beside him, Guilty Star, who was carrying an alloy combat-axe replied, “Third Elder, it seems that someone has leaked news that a treasure would soon be born here at Mount Helan, which drew a lot of random martial artist. We should act right away so that the Martial Arts Department and the military would not catch on.”
Then, he looked out at the distant hill.
There, a single enormous willow tree stood motionlessly as if in slumber.
Guilty Star’s eyes seemed to be blazing then.
It was a mutated plant!
Moreover, it was one that gained sentience, and could otherwise be known as a floral spirit.
Although many plants had mutated following the Revival of Qi, those that could truly develop sentience and could be known as ‘floral spirits’ were extremely rare. That was why any single floral spirit was very expensive and could at least fetch a price tag of several dozen millions.
Their effects were even more special: some promotes longevity, just as others help with ascensions, or even awakens superpowers within those who consumed it...
Furthermore, the stronger the floral spirit was, the greater that effect would be.
And as a matter of fact, that enormous willow tree was basically a match for rank-nine. Once word of a floral spirit of such caliber gets out, it might attract every divine champion above rank-nine!
