Chapter 483: The Divine Mountain
The black-robed Divine Envoy took out his magic orb once more, his divine energy surging into it as he mumbled a chant that was complex and mysterious.
Blinding light fired out from the orb, forming a beam that shot up to the horizon.
At the same time, the sacred warriors and sacred mages unleashed their own powers into the magic orb, and it was soon several times more dazzling than before.
“Invoke!” the black-robed Divine Envoy abruptly cried in Ancient Greek.
The sacred warriors and sacred mages all traded glances in hesitance.
“Tras.h.!.+”
The Divine Envoy bellowed. “Sacrifice your lifeforce and years to connect the dimensional altar to receive G.o.dfather and the other G.o.ds! He will grant you divinity, and as an ent.i.ty, you will live endlessly while commanding boundless divine energy!”
Pa.s.sionate glimmer appeared in the sacred warriors’ and sacred mages’ eyes then, and all of them poured all their lifeforce into the magic orb.
The beam that shot up at the horizon thickened.
“Tut, tut.”
Jiang He clicked his tongue discreetly, unable to hold back laughter. “If nothing else, those western elites are all specialists in brainwas.h.i.+ng. They would probably fool many people if they work in direct sales.”
“That’s always been the western way.”
Jin Sidao chimed in. “The Divine Spirits of the Western like the energy they obtain from belief, and have gone through great lengths to spread their religion. There were G.o.ds of light, earth, and dark or whatnot, even getting people to write their stories that were spread in the west.”
“That has much to do with the Eastern cultivators belittling them as trash.”
One of the Ten Thousand Swords Sect Heavenly Immortals sneered. “Cultivators gain enlightenment toward nature and strengthen themselves. Cultivating through the energy of belief is merely a heretical method.”
That was when the world trembled.
Meanwhile, the sacred warriors and sacred mages who were pouring their lifeforce into the magic orb were all rapidly losing vigor, becoming white-haired and elderly before dropping p.r.o.ne on the ground.
The blond black-robed man hence threw the magic orb up into the skies, and took out a dagger which he stabbed into his own chest. Then, kneeling on one knee and allowing blood flow feely out of his chest, he looked up and squawked a bunch of mumbo-jumbos in Ancient Greek.
Devotion filled his face.
Despite bleeding away, the blond black-robed man was a Divine Spirit, so the bleeding did not amount to much.
Soon, the blood flowed to the ground and formed a stream, which soon shaped into an altar.
At the same time, the radiance from the magic orb floating in the air shot out, reflecting into the altar.
At that very moment, the skies changed color.
Rolling dark clouds blocked out the sky and the bright day instantly turned into dark night. Though the beam from the magic orb that pierced sky and earth appeared blinding, it did not banish the darkness at all.
“Eh?”
Jiang He’s gaze s.h.i.+fted toward the skies.
He sensed a violent spatial ripple, as if some power was bent on tearing through the skies.
***
Meanwhile, at the headquarters of the Martial Arts Department (MAD) in the Hua Nation, w.a.n.g Hou promptly stood up, stars swirling in his eyes as he looked toward the skies with the power of the Star Map. He could see a Divine Mountain floating toward Earth through outer s.p.a.ce, and was about to fly out to investigate when Jiang He’s voice spoke in his mind, “Ignore it, Minister w.a.n.g.”
Right now, Jiang He was a full-fledged Grand Luo.
Though he was overseas, a single thought with his immortal would allow him to clearly see w.a.n.g Hou and his every move.
Unable to hold back a laugh, w.a.n.g Hou sat down.
Jiang He?
That fellow said that he would start trouble with the Western Pantheon... and it was starting right now?
How swift and decisive!
***
Crack-boom!
The world quaked.
Countless people throughout the west could sense the violent tremor, and all of them looked up toward the skies.
It was now nighttime in the Hua Nation, but daytime in the west.
Though darkness shrouded the Divine Envoy’s location, it only spanned an area of 150 squared kilometers. Considering the plains where he was has been uninhabited, it was not weird that people from other areas did not notice anything unusual.
On the other hand, the elites had noticed the beam that pierced the world.
However, before they could investigate... the skies split upon.
The silhouette of the colossal Divine Mountain slowly appeared.
Through the west, countless people could clearly see that sight.
“Haha!”
Jiang He could not help laughing again as he observed it all in secret.
“These western G.o.ds are quite interesting... they’ve refracted light so that the arrival of the Divine Mountain reaches out across the west... could they be making a big deal so they would have an easy time spreading their religion?”
He turned toward the Divine Mountain slowly descending from the skies and said, “That Divine Mountain is not back, and must have been refined with divine energy over countless years by those western G.o.ds, becoming a treasure that could match a superior-grade acquired soul treasure...”
Still, the Divine Mountain was descending very slowly.
It appeared to be a deliberate move on the western G.o.ds’ part.
They refracted light so that the arrival of the Divine Mountain reached out across the west in order to expand their influence. Wouldn’t a quick descent go against their original intent?
Soon, half of the Divine Mountain descended.
G.o.dly light shot out from within, conjuring many miracles up in the air.
“Miracles!”
“Those are miracles!”
“Our G.o.ds are returning!”
People were cheering throughout the west.
They kowtowed in prayer.
There was no lack of embedded believers among those people, and when they did so, they had led many others to drop to their knees as well.
“These people have some nice ideas!”
Jiang He could not hold back a laughter.
Then, in a flash, he suddenly appeared before the black-robed Divine Envoy.
“Who are you?”
Stunned, the black-robed man was just about to stand up when his vision blacked out and he lost all senses.
Picking him up, Jiang He waited until Jin Sidao and the rest caught up and said, “Bring Xiao w.a.n.g along. We’re going up.”
“Going up?”
Jin Sidao was a little dumbstruck.
Go where?
Jiang He smiled, “Since the western G.o.ds are making such a high-profile return, intent on expanding their influence to take in believers... why would I let them do as they wish?”
As he spoke, the air around him rippled and his figure appeared up in the air within the refraction of spatial energy.
Aside from him, the figures of Jin Sidao and the others appeared in the skies as well.
The simple application of spatial energy allowed even average Joes to clearly see the figures up in the skies, even from thousands of miles away.
Throughout the west, the people who were on their knees became a little confused.
What was going on?
Even the believers whom the black-robed Divine Envoy embedded in various cities did a double take...
What was that supposed to be? The Divine Envoy did not mention about that... but now that things had come to this, they had to make things up as it went along.
“The G.o.ds, hidden upon Earth...”
“But...”
Someone said uncertainly, “Those people have black hair and eyes, and look rather Asian...”
Before more could ask questions or retort, a thunderous bellow echoed across the world—
“Who is your boss, G.o.ds of the west? Get out here to face me!”
“How dare you hurt my brother!’
s.h.i.+ng!
A sword light pierced heaven and earth and shot toward the Divine Mountain.
It was the Yuan Killer Sword!
With Jiang He’s current abilities, he could definitely cut the Divine Mountain in two with a single slash. However, he did not do so, and kept the Yuan Killer Sword just beneath the Divine Mountain...
After all, he was here to reason it out with the western G.o.ds.
Jiang He never forgot his initial cause.
Kaboom!
The Divine Mountain quaked violently just then.
Half-descended, the Divine Mountain paused, and divine light flickered upon it.
The G.o.ds on the mountain were a little confused.
What is going on?
Our show is not over yet, and there’s already an obstacle?
A G.o.d burning with flames around him flew out, roaring in rage, “Insolent wretch, daring to stop the G.o.ds’ descent....”
Slas.h.!.+
Jiang He did not allow him time to talk. Invoking the Yuan Killer Sword, he cut down that G.o.d with a sword light and sneered, “Piece of trash. How dare you raise your voice at me?”
“Who is your boss?”
“I’ll give you three seconds... come our right now, or I will ma.s.sacre your Divine Mountain!”
As he spoke, Jiang He deliberately extend his voice so that it overlapped with the refraction of the Divine Mountain. Hence, the people who kowtowed in devotion were left at a loss.
The G.o.ds?
Those were the G.o.ds?
It was said that the G.o.ds were omnipotent, so why was a kid spouting some foreign language scolding them?
“Blasphemy, that’s blasphemy toward the G.o.ds...”
One of the believers was squealing.
Suddenly, a man stepped out from the crowd, drew his blade, and cut the believer down.
He was from the Hua Nation, and he looked around with a sneer. “Bunch of fools. What is this day and age that you still believe in G.o.ds?”
“Those so-called G.o.ds are just humans who are a little stronger.”
“If they had really come to rule all of you, they would definitely reimplement the policies they had upheld thousands of years ago. Law and order would not exist at all, and the freedom you wors.h.i.+p would be an utter joke.”
That man, wearing a black martial arts uniform and carrying a blade over his back, spoke fluent English.
His cultivation was not weak—he was now fifth-tier, or Yin-Yang tier in martial cultivation, and had already cultivated over twenty G.o.dly martial arts.
Jiang He knew him.
He was Pei Donglai, a military officer and Three Blades Lin’s Senior Brother who used to stand watch over Jiangnan, having helped clean up Jiang He’s mess alongside w.a.n.g Hou after Jiang He killed the Black King Drake.
