Chapter 261: Failing at the Last Moment!
“Rumble!”
Deafening thunder rumbled in the sky.
The originally clear sky gradually dimmed as dark clouds began to gather.
“Rumble!”
Lightning flashed in the sky, and bolts of thunder crashed down from the heavens.
“Ha!”
The Thunder Giant roared.
It waved its hands, gathered the mana in the sky and unleashed it at the Divine Dragon.
Tens of thousands of lightning bolts crashed down at the same time.
“My lord, have you gone mad!?”
Accius exclaimed, “Do you want to raze Mountain City into the ground? Don’t forget, there are tens of thousands of citizens, YOUR PEOPLE, living in Mountain City!”
Locke smiled and stated, “No need to worry, Accius. If I were incapable of taking this move head-on, I would never have formed a contract with the Divine Dragon in the first place.
“[ Divine Dragon’s Breath ] !”
Following Locke’s order, the Divine Dragon unleashed a deafening roar.
Terrifying waves of mana burst forth from its mouth and transformed into razor sharp wind blades that destroyed everything in their path.
Rumble!
Thunder continued to slam down from the clouds above.
It threatened to turn Locke and his Divine Dragon into ashes.
However, upon making contact with the dragon’s breath, the thunderbolts were immediately torn apart, and they were reduced into specks of starlight that dissipated a moment later.
Nevertheless, even after dissipating the thunderbolts, the Dragon Breath continued to travel forward. Its offensive prowess was not diminished in the slightest as it headed towards the city lord.
“How is this possible!?”
The moment the city lord saw this, a look of shock appeared on his face.
As the master of the Thunder Giant, he was well aware of how powerful its Chain Lightning was.
It was to the extent that it could easily crush Mountain City. In spite of this, Locke’s Divine Dragon had easily neutralized it, and not just that, its attack did not seem to weaken at all.
Although the city lord was still in shock, he still managed to dodge Locke’s Divine Dragon Breath.
After gaining his footing, he let out a burst of laughter.
“Hahaha!”
“As expected of a dragon. Although the levels of our Battle Beasts are different, it does not seem to be at a disadvantage at all.”
The city lord’s gaze turned sharp as he continued, “Not only will your death absolve yourself of any crimes you’ve committed, it will also help me spread my name across the world. This is a win-win situation, no? So, hurry up and die!”
“Are you certain that you can kill me?” Locke’s gaze was cold as he calmly looked at the city lord.
“I’ve already showed you my Thunder Giant’s strength, have I not? I’m certain it’s more than enough to deal with you!” The city lord shouted.
“Thunder Dragon Strike!”
After receiving its master’s order, the Thunder Giant condensed mana in its right hand and raised it above its head. Following this, a majestic pillar of light was unleashed into the sky.
“Rumble!”
Within the sky that was covered with dark clouds, bolts of lightning began to gather toward the light pillar.
A magnificent scene was unfolding before everyone’s eyes.
“Arrr~”
They could even faintly hear the roar of a dragon.
A moment later, the Thunder Giant unleashed its ability once more.
Electricity rained down from the sky like a waterfall and struck the Thunder Giant.
“ARRR!”
Electricity was coursing throughout the Thunder Giant’s body.
It let out a powerful dragon roar.
Dragon horns had grown out of its head, and a pair of huge wings had grown out from its back. It vaguely resembled a dragon.
“What is this!?”
Locke was stunned. ‘It forcibly transformed into a dragon?’
Despite all the ancient literature that he had read, he had never heard of such a transformation before.
“Hahaha, the Thunder Giant is a descendant of an Ancient Thunder Dragon! How else could I have become a city lord at such a young age?”
The city lord noticed the drastic change in Locke’s expression and had a.s.sumed that Locke was afraid. Due to this, he immediately laughed out loud.
“It’s merely a descendant of an Ancient Thunder. How could it possibly compare to my pure-blood it compare to my pure-blooded Divine Dragon?” Locke said with a chuckle.
Locke opened his hands wide, and a stream of red light appeared behind him.
“Infinite Fire Elements!”
“Gale Wings!”
The red light formed a ball of flames, and it seemed to possess a soul of its own.
Meanwhile, gusts of wind congregated, forming a figure of an elf.
“Fusion!”
“Cries of Wind and Flame!”
The red ball of flames and the figure of wind merged together, forming a brand new ent.i.ty.
Gradually, the ethereal components formed a physical body made of flesh and blood.
The ent.i.ty was engulfed in flames, and its figure was reminiscent of an elf.
“You have other Battle Beasts?”
The city lord was slightly surprised.
Most people only possessed a single Battle Beast.
Those who could contract two of them were very rare.
Even a self-proclaimed genius like the city lord could only form a contract with a single Battle Beast.
‘Just how strong is Locke to be able to contract two, no, three Battle Beasts!’
The city lord’s heart was filled with jealousy and his expression became more and more sinister.
“Kill him, Thunder Giant!”
The Thunder Giant King roared in response, and the dragon horns on its head began to gather the power of lightning.
Rumble!
After being strengthened by the Thunder Dragon Strike, the Thunder Giant’s electricity became purer, and its strength was amplified!
A terrifying bolt of lightning shot out from the Thunder Giant’s dragon horns and attacked Locke and his Battle Beasts.
“Cries of Wind and Flame!”
Locke immediately gave the order to respond.
A flame the shape of a phoenix shot forth. The flames, combined with gale-force hurricanes slammed viciously into the enemy.
The flames seemed capable of burning everything in the world and turning them into ashes.
When the Thunder Giant’s lightning and the Cries of Wind and Flame made contact, they exploded with a terrifying sound. The two were seemingly evenly matched.
The Cries of Wind and Flame, an ability that resulted from a fusion of Infinite Fire Element and Gale Wings was no weaker than the Divine Dragon. In fact, it was even stronger than the Divine Dragon.
Nevertheless, it was still evenly matched with the Thunder Giant, who possessed a trace of the Ancient Thunder Dragon’s bloodline.
‘It’s already this powerful with just a trace of the Thunder Dragon’s bloodline! Just how powerful would the Divine Dragon be if it awakened all of its potential?’ Locke sighed in his heart.
At the same time, he ordered his Divine Dragon, “Divine Dragon Breath!”
“Roar!”
The Divine Dragon roared.
Following this, a hurricane containing a terrifying amount of mana power burst out from its mouth.
The Divine Dragon’s Dragon Breath was also considered a wind attribute skill, and as a result, it was capable of strengthening the Cries of Wind and Flame.
Clearly outmatched by the combined attack, its ray of lightning gradually weakened.
“You!”
Shock appeared on the city lord’s distorted face.
He did not expect Locke to be this strong.
‘He was actually able to combine the skills of three Battle Beasts perfectly.’
The combined power of the three Battle Beasts was more than enough to burn down five mountain cities!
Needless to say, the Thunder Giant was no match for it.
As time went by…
The Thunder Giant’s ray of lightning had vanished.
Locke’s combined move, Blazing Skies, was right before the city lord’s eyes.
“Boom!”
With a loud boom.
The wall of the mansion exploded, and the Thunder Giant’s body was also blasted into starlight. The city lord was also blasted into the sky.
“How could I have lost!”
The city lord let out an unwilling roar in mid-air.
He had planned for this moment for ages, and yet, he had failed at the very last moment, all because of the young man before him.
