Chapter 361: Times Have Changed Now
The two-winged angel felt as if its head was splitting apart. It had never been subjected to such pain before.
While two-winged angels were not considered high-ranking members of heaven, there had also never been a case of one being humiliated to such an extent. It was a servant of its Lord, after all.
It had advent on the Earth eons ago. Back then, all earthlings that saw it revered and wors.h.i.+pped it as a G.o.d. n.o.body thought that any of them would have humiliated it the same way Lu Xuan did.
Pfftt!
That angel spewed golden blood from its mouth. At that point, it was truly being beaten within an inch of its life.
“No, this shouldn’t be the destiny of humans.”
Lu Xuan walked up to the angel and quipped, “Times have changed now, angel,” he said. With a longsword in hand, he stabbed the two-winged angel to death right away.
That angel, who had been constructed by energy high in the air, disintegrated bit by bit. Without the two-winged angel controlling it, all of its boundless power of faith shattered into pieces.
That thunder dragon only dissipated from sight in the sky afterward.
Lu Xuan’s fury grew inside as he looked at all of that power of faith steeped throughout the entire Vatican City. It was quite valuable, after all.
While he didn’t choose to walk the path of faith, that nonetheless didn’t stop him from making use of the power of faith.
At that moment, he was almost at the very limit permissible by the world itself. If he were to make further progress, he would have had to resort to making use of external powers.
His best choice as of now seemed to be the city filled with the power of faith.
With that in mind, Lu Xuan performed a seal right away. All that Spiritual Qi within him boiled. All of that boundless power of faith gushed towards Lu Xuan in a frenzy, seemingly being pulled by some external force. His entire body began to gradually s.h.i.+ne with a golden sheen. If he were to have wings, he would have looked like an angel from legends and myths.
“He’s absorbing the power of faith of the Vatican City!”
Some cultivators shouted. A good number of fighters grew even more puzzled as to what Lu Xuan was doing.
Everybody knew about the Vatican City being filled with the power of faith. The Vatican City was not the only place that had such traits; many sacred religious sites were known to harbor great amounts of power of faith as well.
In reality, there were several cultivation forces out there making use of the power of faith to further their cultivation. However, none of them had sought those sacred religious sites out just so to absorb all that power of faith before.
There was only one reason why; the nature of the power of faith between various religions was completely different from one another. There were even some religions which sported completely different types of powers of faith just within their own factions alone. If someone were to just carelessly absorb such powers, they would only end up becoming a monster eventually.
Due to such powers packing too much will and faith in them, many eastern cultivators saw such power of faith to be the stuff of heretics.
The power of faith from different individual devotees would contain their own will and thoughts, which were considered impurities. If one were to be a.s.saulted by the will and thoughts from tens of thousands of people all at once, the cultivator doing so would have been rendered insane before long.
That was why many G.o.ds and fairies of eastern mythologies were known to have all manner of roles and professions: the ones bestowing people with children, the ones blessing people with good grades, the ones blessing people with good health, and some such. The extent of diversification of such roles and professions was something that cultivators from other regions of the world found utterly unimaginable.
As times progressed, new roles and professions were established such as blessing servers, guaranteeing success in researches, turning up the chances of drawing SSR level cards, and so on. The number of such roles and professions was practically endless.
That was all so to allow the ‘deities’ to reciprocate to their devotees’ wishes accordingly and specifically. If they were to simply absorb all those powers without the intention of making all those wishes come true, they would end up being influenced by all of those persistent thoughts. The effects may not be profound when absorbed in small quant.i.ties. If the quant.i.ties of such thoughts were to be left unchecked, however, any who absorbed all those powers would be rendered insane.
Even the Buddhists, which were the most specific and particular religious group about offerings and such things, would hardly ever absorb such powers of faith without care. Many of them chose to simply train themselves on their own.
The hidden dangers were deemed not worth the risk after all.
To all of the cultivators present, Lu Xuan did not look like someone oblivious to the nature of the power of faith. Many of them deemed his act of simply absorbing all that pure power of faith that belonged to the Roman Curia to eventually render him insane by the sheer impact of its nature.
“Man, what a waste. He may be powerful, but I never thought he would be so foolish.”
“He’s rus.h.i.+ng to get too much done so quickly. I mean, who else in the world would truly stand a chance against him? Is there even a need to suck up that much of the power of faith?”
“I think he might have his own ways to deal with this though.”
Everyone talked among themselves, yet all of them simply watched on as Lu Xuan began to absorb all that boundless power of faith. Not a single person dared to stop him. Even all of the devotees gathered at the Vatican were all still reeling from the dread of Lu Xuan killing that two-winged angel.
Even the governments from countries all across the world watched as Lu Xuan absorbed all that power of faith from the Vatican. Even so, it was a mystery as to how many in their midst were wis.h.i.+ng that Lu Xuan would explode and die after absorbing all that power.
It took Lu Xuan three whole hours to finally suck the entire city dry of its power of faith.
At that moment, it seemed as if Lu Xuan was extremely close to becoming something like the two-winged angel. There was even a pair of wings of light growing out of his back, making him seem incredibly holy.
There were even a few people that thought that Lu Xuan looked more like an angel than the one that came before. Some of them were wondering if one could become an angel by doing what Lu Xuan just did.
Lu Xuan took a look at his own current state and did not mind any of it. With on slight flap of the wings of light behind his back, he lifted the body of the dead angel and disappeared before everyone’s eyes in a blast of light.
Countless devotees wailed and wept at the sight, which they all saw to be akin to an invincible deity dying by the hands of a mortal after all.
That was something unheard of before. It seemed to have verified what Lu Xuan previously said.
Times have truly changed.
It was now a time in which a human who was able to make it to the top would also gain powers equal to that of G.o.ds.
In an era where science dominated just about every aspect of life, many simply came to see deities as just another kind of very powerful lifeform. Even if such G.o.ds truly existed, they were simply seen to be some kind of powerful organism than people knew little of.
However, that did not change the fact that many people still saw such deities as beings of unparalleled status.
While angels were not truly G.o.ds according to the myths they originated from, they were nonetheless seen to be true deities in the eyes of the devotees due to being the envoys of G.o.d.
Even so, such a being of unparalleled status was now beaten off of its pedestal by Lu Xuan.
What happened had no doubt utterly crushed the beliefs of many people.
Countless gave in to despair, made evident by their weeping and wailing.
Lu Xuan’s family watched that earthshaking battle through the live stream back at the Yunxuan Villa.
The rabbit standing in the corner with a carrot in its forelimb scratched at its backside with its rear limb and said, “All talk and no action. I’ve always known that any move that angel pulled would have been completely useless.”
The animal finally sighed in relief after Lu Xuan had finally secured his victory.
Things were especially tense given that Lu Xuan was fighting against angels told in myths and legends. Everyone in the Lu family was worried.
They were all finally to rest easy seeing that Lu Xuan eventually won.
