The stars shone bright on this quiet night. The four elders in the Heaven Sealing Pavilion sat on each side of the copper pillar with closed eyes.

Heaven Sealing Sword was still s.h.i.+ning blue, radiating power taken by the barrier. 

Boom!

A sudden explosion tore the tranquility, with a huge fire breaking out five kilometers from Beyond Heaven Island. The flames reach high in the sky, with the clouds reflecting a deep red. 

The four elders flinched awake, looking at the fire in the distance and heard the resulting ruckus. The sect members were running around to deal with it.

“What’s going on? What could have made that noise inside the sect?” One elder stroked his beard.

Another elder shook his head and closed his eyes, “Doesn’t matter. At worst, Sect Leader and Lingtian will deal with it. We just need to do our job and guard this place. Nothing else matters than doing our part.”

The others regained calm after a pause, just sitting there in silence.

“Report!”

Yet fifteen minutes later, a panicked shout reached the pavilion.

A Sea Bright Sect disciple flew before the four and started lamenting, “Venerables, this is bad! I-Invincible Sword and five Sword Kings have broken in. Sea Bright Sect Ling has fallen and senior uncle Ouyang Lingtian is barely holding on. You have to help him, venerables!”

[What?!]

The calm elders snapped their eyes open and stared at him in disbelief, “Are you sure? How, when our barrier is unbreakable! Invincible Sword would have no reason to be here either way. Why would they make such a sudden attack, for what purpose?”

The guy didn’t say anything, just looking frightened, being scared out of his mind and unable to calm down.

“Hey, which elder’s disciple are you? Why aren’t you answering?”

One venerable squinted and shouted in suspicion, “Did you see Invincible Sword and his team? Did you see the Sect Leader die?”

The guy barely squeezed a word through the terror, “Y-yes…”

The four elders grumbled. 

[What’s with him acting so weird?]

His earlier report was clear so why was he now stuttering so much…

“Venerables, get the Heaven Sealing Sword, quickly!”

Another shout came to the pavilion before they could make some sense of it all. A second disciple rushed in, looking miserable.

He slumped at their feet and urged, “Senior uncle Lingtian is hurt badly. Double Dragon Manor and Shangguan clan have suffered severe casualties and can’t hold on. Senior uncle requests that venerables go and help with the divine sword!”

He then spurted blood and fell unconscious from his heavy wounds. 

The four were alarmed.

[Is the battle outside that fierce? They’ve taken out the main resistance. Is the enemy that strong?]

The four looked shocked, but recalling Invincible Sword, they were instantly sure. 

[With that old monster leading the charge and with the help of a divine sword, it’ll be hard to stop him.]

Three elders turned to the oldest, “Eldest brother…”

The elder frowned, his heart in chaos. He figured the best thing to do now was to understand what was happening.

But it all happened so fast that there was no time, with the situation out of control and unable to make sense of it all.

[What am I supposed to do?]

“Venerable, save us!”

A wail came from outside.

The four elders’ hearts thumped with worry.

This time it was a female disciple bursting in, covered in wounds and her eyes filled with blood. She wept, “Venerables, senior uncle Ouyang…”

The four elders shook, hurriedly asking, “What happened to Lingtian…”

“Senior uncle was k-killed by Invincible Sword…”

The girl twitched one more time and cried as she fell unconscious as well.

The four elders no longer looked at her, each shocked to the core.

Ouyang Lingtian, the strongest in northern lands and the only one to use the Heaven Sealing Sword to its full power, had just died at Invincible Sword’s hands.

The future of Sea Bright Sect was now ruined, all those thousands of years of glorious history brought to an abrupt end. 

The four panicked and their hearts sank.

The noise outside only grew louder. One elder jolted back to his senses and said, “Eldest brother, we need to help the sect! We can’t sit around while our disciples are being wiped out. There is no sect without them!”

“Yes, but there’s rules regarding the sword…”

The High Venerable no longer sat around thinking, turning to the Heaven Sealing Sword with hesitation, “The sword can never leave the pavilion, only in special circ.u.mstances. If we take the sword then…”

The other three elders cried out, “Eldest brother, we don’t have time to mind the rules! Without the Heaven Sealing Sword, we can’t stop Invincible Sword’s Sundering Sword. Are you trying to let him kill more of us? This is an emergency and we don’t have time to worry about that now. Are you afraid of losing the Heaven Sealing Sword?” 

High Venerable looked at them and then he nodded.

[Yes, it’s an emergency. Stopping the old monster comes first. This entire situation feels strange, but we need to act fast.] 

With the four of them working together and wielding the Heaven Sealing Sword, nothing could stop them.

High Venerable’s eyes shone with conviction, “Release the barrier and take the sword!”

The other three nodded and made signs.

Ripples began to spread from the barrier around the sword.

The barrier then opened and allowed for the cold aura of the Heaven Sealing Sword to spread outside. It then began to hum, shaking and hovering above the copper pillar.

High Venerable reached out for it.

Whoosh~

The sword turned into a cold glow and flew towards him.

Whoosh~

Silver sword energy waves came from nowhere just then, shooting for the elders. The dreaded aura they carried made them s.h.i.+ver and feel death breathing down their necks

The four jumped away to dodge.

Bam!

While they got out of the way, the Heaven Sealing Sword could not. With a clang, the sacred weapon got sent hurtling through the air. It was no longer able to tell where High Venerable was and just spun in place.

It was then a woman flashed before the four and grabbed Heaven Sealing Sword. She landed a hundred meters from them and spared them a cold gaze. She was none other than the female disciple coming to report.

Only she now released a deadly aura that made even the four elders s.h.i.+ver.

“W-who are you? Give Heaven Sealing Sword back!” The four elders shouted at once, clenching their fists.

She, however, made the wise choice to ignore them, looking at the divine sword with a flat look, devoid of any joy she might have hoped…
