Chapter 208 - "You can’t let them know where I am or give them my contact information." (4)
The so-called mini amus.e.m.e.nt park shocked Shu Yan once again. It not has a merry-go-round, it also has b.u.mper cars, mini roller coaster, mini ferris wheel…
“Yeah, you are right, such a ‘mini’ amus.e.m.e.nt park.” Shu Yan was speechless.
“What’s wrong?” Hu Ruixue gave her a baffled look.
Shu Yan shook her head. She thought a mini amus.e.m.e.nt park would resemble that inside of a large supermarket with a castle, a bouncy house, slide, sand box, etc. But this really was a miniature amus.e.m.e.nt park.
JingJing and Tianbao were young so Shu Yan had never taken them to an amus.e.m.e.nt park before. This being their first time they have seen these types of gaming facilities, they had almost gone nuts over them. Right now the two of them were bouncing up and down in the trampoline. Hu Ruixue’s daughter, on the other hand, just sat on one side like a doll and didn’t even move or look over.
“You noticed it, didn’t you?” asked Hu Ruixue all of a sudden.
“What?” Shu Yan stared straightly at the two children and worried that they’d have too much fun and fall off of it. She paused a little when she heard Hu Ruixue’s question.
“My daughter. She’s sick.” Hu Ruixue looked down lovingly at her daughter. “Autism. The doctor said that if the parents continue to give her love, she just might be able to call us Daddy and Mommy one day.”
“Was that why you chose to forgive Zhang Baizong when you found out that he was cheating on you?” She had been wondering about it. After she had got to know Hu Ruixue better, she learned that Hu Ruixue was a perfectionist who wouldn’t tolerate any faults. So why did she choose to forgive Zhang Baizong? Hu Ruixue said it was love before but then she had gone all out at the end. Shu Yan had always felt that it was very conflicted but she finally found out the truth today.
Hu Ruixue nodded slightly. “After you call, I have consulted with the doctors. They’ve told me that Duoduo isn’t oblivious to what is going on around her; she just isn’t able to express herself. So she is capable of detecting fake love and that won’t do her any good. Then I divorced Zhang Baizong. I have taken her to experts overseas but nothing helped. I thought perhaps playing with your kids will perhaps… help her somehow.”
Shu Yan was suddenly speechless. Everybody has their own issues. Take Hu Ruixue as an example. She was born to a good family, pretty and smart, but she ran into a sc.u.mbag and her daughter has autism.
She had read about them on the web in the past and know that there were treatments for milder cases but, judging from how Duoduo seemed today, she was of the more serious type that had no treatments for.
Hu Ruixue smiled bitterly. “I just don’t want to give up. I know that Duoduo will never recover, which is why I wanted to start my own business so I can save up enough money for her. I hope that she could spend the rest of her life in a treatment facility after I am gone.”
“She’s only 4 years old. Technology is improving every day. There might be treatments one day.” Shu Yan could only say some comforting words to her.
Hu Ruixue shook her head. “It’s almost lunch time. Let’s go eat over at the kiosk.”
Shu Yan called the two kids back and had JingJing looked out for the little sister.
“But little sister is ignoring me.” JingJing leaned in and whispered into Shu Yan’s ear.
“Little sister is just quiet. Just talk to her more, okay?”
Surprisingly, Duoduo liked the sweet soup made by Shu Yan a lot. Hu Ruixue said, a bit emotionally, “Duoduo never has very good appet.i.te and never likes to eat but she likes your sweet soup. Shu Yan, teach me how to make that so I can make for her.”
“Of course.” Shu Yan looked at the little girl whose drinking her soup docilely and felt sad for her. She was such a pretty girl. It’d be nice if she could recover.
