Chapter 266- Shu Yan finally figured out that she was putting in good words for Feng Zeyu. (3)
Shu Yan gave it some thought and she was quite traumatized at the hospital lats time so she shook her head. “No, I’ll pa.s.s.”
In the end, when Mother Duoduo found out that Shu Yan was in the car, she lectured Feng Zeyu and long and hard and finally came and dragged Shu Yan inside.
“I can’t believe Yu did what he did. You are already here and he didn’t even bring you inside. He wasn’t even going to tell me had I not noticed something wasn’t right,” said Mother DuoDuo as she glared at Feng Zeyu.
“It wasn’t his fault. I asked him not to say anything. I didn’t want to trouble you,” Shu Yan explained for him quickly.
“What do you mean by trouble? I was going to take Duoduo to visit you over the New Year. I had Yu check with you first and found out that you had gone on vacation. I have told Yu that you should swing by my place when you come merchandizing in City Han. I may not be a good cook, but my cooking is at least edible. But you won’t let Yu tell me.” Mother Duoduo had Shu Yan taken a seat and brought her tea and snacks.
Shu Yan smiled awkwardly. That was the kind of enthusiasm that she dreaded.
“C’mon out, Duoduo. Look who’s here!”
Shu Yan saw a little boy walking over. He had big eyes and looked very smart. Shu Yan may recognize him; but he had no idea who Shu Yan was.
“This is Aunty Shu Yan. The aunty who saved you last time. Haven’t you been saying that you want to meet her? Hurry up.” Mother Duoduo pulled Duoduo in front of Shu Yan. “Kowtow to aunty. If it wasn’t for her, you would be dead by now.”
“Aye! Please don’t do that. This is the reason that I was afraid to come by. I am going to take off if you keep this up,” said Shu Yan as she stood up immediately.
“This won’t be necessary, sister-in-law. Yanyan is not used to this.” Feng Zeyu chimed in also to help Shu Yan out.
When Mother Duoduo heard the way that Feng Zeyu referred to Shu Yan, she took a look at the two of them, and smiled while covering up her mouth. “Oh, right. I’ll stop since Yu said so.”
Shu Yan was stupefied. What did she mean by “since Yu said so”? As though Feng Zeyu could make these decisions for her.
“And, you two. How can you have breakfast before coming over? You are not leaving until you have lunch here.” Having said that, she put on her ap.r.o.n and headed over to the kitchen refusing to let Feng Zeyu and Shu Yan talk her out of it.
Seeing how Mother Duoduo was busying herself preparing for lunch, Shu Yan felt awkward just sitting around and wait so she went to help with preparing the vegetables.
“No need. No need. You go sit with Yu. If you are bored, having Yu show you around. He is familiar with this area.”
“It’s fine,” said Shu Yan with a smile.
“Yanyan, can I refer to you that way?”
“Sure.”
“Have Yu mentioned that him and my husband were the type of comrades who would trust each other with their lives? My husband had sacrificed himself for the country when he was still very young and my husband’s comrades had been taking care of me all these years. Yu lives the closest to me and helped me the most. He might look mean but he is a very nice guy. Attentive and responsible. Women tend to see a guy for their looks when they are young. But you only find out that looks mean nothing after you get married if he’s not a loving and responsible person.”
“sister-in-law, I know he’s a nice guy.” But why was she telling me this?
Mother Duoduo nodded. “I didn’t want you to misunderstand and be scared by his look. He got that scar of his while protecting and serving his country and his people. As my husband would say, that’s a badge of honor that he should be proud of.”
“I think so too,” said Shu Yan as she prepared the vegetables and finally realizing that she was putting in good words for Feng Zeyu.
