Chapter 293 - "Will you be okay with a new daddy?" (3
“So she’s running promotional activities every day?” asked Shu Yan in disbelief.
“Yes, I have talked to her many times but she wouldn’t listen. She said she is very busy every day. But she never stopped to think that she is working over 10 hours a day. The place is bustling, sure, but her daily sales is still around 600 ~ 700 yuan with probably lower profit than before. What was she doing that for?” Zhang Huaxiu was baffled.
Why? Shu Yan couldn’t answer that question. She only felt that it was a waste of a good shop.
“Okay, I get it.” As a friend, Shu Yan had already done all that she could. How Wu Xiuyue chose to run her shop was her own business. If she said anymore, Wu Xiuyue just might find her offensive. She was going to wash her hands. She didn’t want to be blamed when the shop went belly up.
It was who Wu Xiuyue was. Perhaps a shop like that worked better for her.
Tianbao was much better now and Aunty was doing laundry. He was playing by himself when Shu Yan was sleeping.
“Mom, was Uncle Feng the one who held me all night long last night?”
“Yes, why?” Shu Yan walked over and sat down next to Tianbao.
“Mom, is Uncle Feng courting you?”
Cough. Cough.
Shu Yan almost choked on her own saliva. “Where did you learn that term from?”
Tianbao rolled his eyes. “You adults always think that us children don’t know anything. We know everything. My cla.s.smate’s father is courting our teacher. My cla.s.smate even asked me for ideas to help his dad out.”
Shu Yan was speechless for a little while. “No… I mean, your cla.s.smate’s dad. Where is his mother then?”
“She ran off, of course,” said Tianbao casually. “His grandma said that his mother didn’t like that fact that his father was poor and ran off. His dad was poor before but then the country took away their place and they are rich now. Dudu now wears designer brands everyday and have snacks from overseas.”
“You know about designer brands?” Shu Yan was in the garment industry so, naturally, she would not be buying designer clothes from the shopping mall. She normally look for bargain clothing at the wholesale market.
“Mom, stop looking down on me already,” said Tianbao with a out.
“Alright, alright. I won’t look down on you. Have your cla.s.smate’s dad successfully courted his teacher yet?”
“Dudu said he is almost there. When Teacher Liu became his new mother, he’d keep me in mind and let me have lots of little red flowers every day.” Tianbao lifted his head proudly.
“That’s very mighty of him.” Shu Yan stopped herself from laughing out loud.
“Yup.” Tianbao suddenly asked, “Is Uncle Feng going to be my new daddy?”
Shu Yan did not deny that immediately. Instead, she asked, “Are you okay with a new daddy?”
“Yes if we are talking about Uncle Feng.”
“Why?” Shu Yan was curious. Feng Zeyu have not been in contact with the two children a lot.
“Because Uncle Feng has a scar on his face and looks very mean. If I am every bullied, he just has to stand there and n.o.body will dare to bully me anymore.”
Shu Yan was speechless once again. She would never had expected that it was Feng Zeyu’s strength or coaxing that had conquered Tianbao, but the scar on him.

Tianbao was a strong boy and had fully recovered after some resting. He happily went back to school the next day with his little backpack.
“You said the landlord was looking for me yesterday. Did he say what it is about?” Shu Yan asked Zhang Huaxiu.
“No, he said he wanted to talk to you.” Zhang Huaxiu, too, found that odd.
Talk to her? Rent wasn’t due yet. What did he want to talk about?
The landlord has a house nearby other than this storefront. Shu Yan gave the landlord a call and, when he didn’t answer, she just went over there directly. She knocked on the door for a while and was about to leave when she saw the couple returning carrying groceries.
“Oh mi, so mushy,” teased Shu Yan.
“Don’t tease. We are not young anymore.” Land Lady was a typical Southern woman. She was soft spoken and smart.
“My employee at my shop told me that you are looking for me yesterday. My son was sick and I had to take him to the hospital yesterday so I didn’t go into the shop. What’s going on?” asked Shu Yan directly.
The Land Lady looked around and, seeing that a few curious neighbors were looking over at them, smiled and said, “Let’s not stand around here. C’mon to my place and we will talk.”
Shu Yan maintained her smile but had an odd feeling.
