Mu Yuchen put his arm over her shoulder as they walked along the corridor and headed outside.
Unexpectedly, they b.u.mped into Gu Lingsha who was getting discharged from the hospital that day.
Xi Xiaye had to admit that Gu Lingsha was a true beauty. She wore a khaki-colored windbreaker with her hair tied into a simple knot. Her face was beautiful, and her eyes were blue like sapphires.
She was just glamorous.
Xi Xiaye was skeptical about the saying that Caucasians were usually better looking, but her doubts were cleared the moment she saw Gu Lingsha.
Gu Lingsha halted her steps when she saw Xi Xiaye and Mu Yuchen. She stood beside the car as she watched them walk over. Her expression was calm, and her gaze was icy cold.
“Master!” Li Si quickly went forward and shot Gu Lingsha an alert glance.
“Not even a greeting?” Gu Lingsha spoke softly with a smile on her face. She did not express any other emotions on the surface.
Xi Xiaye had no idea that Mu Yuchen and Gu Lingsha met before this. The current situation felt awkward. When she turned towards Mu Yuchen, she noticed how calm he was. His eyes seemed unfazed and cold when he looked at Gu Lingsha. Even Xi Xiaye could feel the chilly aura around him.
Since Mu Yuchen remained silent, Gu Lingsha laid her sights on Xi Xiaye. “Ms. Xi, we meet again. I’m sure it’s a pleasure meeting this time.”
“You should call her Mrs. Mu.” Mu Yuchen’s deep voice reached her as his arm over her shoulder tightened.
“I thought we’d be able to have a nice, long talk since we’ve reunited after such a long time. You’re still cold as ever, but I really don’t like the way we talked that night. Mu Yuchen, I’m not the same person as before anymore. Whatever I want, I’ll get it,” Gu Lingsha spoke quietly as she closed in.
“You know very well I can do much more than what happened that night.”
Gu Lingsha let out a cold laugh. “I know you’ve always wondered how Lingtian died, but I’ll never tell you. You just have to know that you killed him. You spared no mercy to your own brother. He suffered greatly when he died.”
As expected, Mu Yuchen’s eyes darkened after he heard Gu Lingsha and his grip on Xi Xiaye’s shoulder tightened once again. Xi Xiaye could feel the intense coldness from him.
“Not only did you elope with someone else behind your fiancè’s back, but you even incited Lingtian to help you guys and indirectly caused his death, yet now you’re blaming the victim. Ms. Gu, is your brain only made up of muscles? How could you act like you’re on the side of justice while you just want revenge?”
Xi Xiaye was getting protective. She shot Gu Lingsha a sarcastic look and her tone was sharp. “Such shameless behavior like yours deserves a death penalty if it happened in the ancient era. Is your beauty inversely correlated to your IQ? Where does your sense of justice come from? If we actually want to hold someone responsible, you’re the real cause of the whole tragedy, aren’t you?”
Gu Lingsha was stunned for a moment. She then replied as her expression darkened. “Ms. Xi please be mindful of your att.i.tude!”
“I don’t think my att.i.tude has any issue. Compared to protected little princesses like you, I don’t see what’s so bad about being straightforward and authentic. At the very least, I won’t go eloping with someone else. I know how to spell the word shame. Are you sure you do?”
Xi Xiaye gave Gu Lingsha a hard stare. Despite being furious, Gu Lingsha was able to control her expression of emotions very well. She acted as if she did not care what Xi Xiaye just said as she gave Mu Yuchen a smile. “Letting a woman act recklessly… That’s not like you at all, Mu Yuchen.”
She then glanced coldly at Xi Xiaye and smiled. “You’re not involved at all. You have no right to talk about it because you don’t know what happened. Mu Yuchen, you know very well what you’ve done. What now? Are you so speechless that you need your woman to defend you?”
Mu Yuchen was indifferent. He gave Xi Xiaye a gentle glance before staring at Gu Lingsha coldly. “You’re wrong. I enjoyed it.”
He ignored Gu Lingsha’s reaction as he dragged Xi Xiaye toward the car. Li Si opened the door for them, and Xi Xiaye turned over elegantly and gave Gu Lingsha a graceful glance before going in.
The car soon left and vanished amidst the traffic.
Gu Lingsha took a deep breath and closed her eyes in bitterness. She smiled wanly and clenched her fists.
She was the true victim! Her Weiwei was the innocent one!
How could they live their lives in peace while she had to go through the pain?
This world was unfair!
Gu Lingsha felt a pain shoot in her chest as she thought about it.
The chauffeur was driving carefully. The atmosphere inside the car was turning so dark that even Li Si, who was sitting in the front pa.s.senger seat, could feel it.
“Master, where are we going now? Are we still heading to the New Era Shopping Centre?”
He wanted to bring Xi Xiaye out for a walk, but it did not seem like the right time. Mu Yuchen leaned back quietly, looking outside the window and not replying Li Si.
After a while, Xi Xiaye said, “Go back to Maple Residence.”
“Yes, Missus!”
Li Si did not say anything else. Xi Xiaye looked at Mu Yuchen for a while before grabbing the hand that rested on his lap. “Don’t mind what she said. It’s all in the past now. No matter what, I’ll trust you and support you.”
Mu Yuchen had a faint smile on his face as he embraced her.
