Chapter 110: Chapter 109 Ain World Fails Miserably
The popularity of Warcraft continues to grow, Chen Mo’s works, story of Azeroth, revolutionary RTS game, excellent Chinese game were all trending topics that made it to large video game forums and streaming sites.
In particular if you were in the RTS community and didn’t know Warcraft, you’d probably be made fun of.
Once the topic got started, it started gaining more and more momentum. Warcraft managed to get forty-three thousand sales on the third day, double that of the first.
That means that on the third day, there were nearly one hundred thousand downloads in total, resulting in eight million RMB in profits.
Extrapolating this data, Warcraft could read eight hundred thousand sales in the first month resulting in about seventy million in profit.
This drove the gaming community crazy, and the drama hungry fans were getting really excited.
There was a lot to PC games as RPGs games were able to reach tens of millions in profit in a month. But Warcraft was a sell by copy RTS game, and Chinese companies wouldn’t even touch RTS games with a ten foot pole!
The community felt that Chen Mo was super cool by entering the PC gaming ecosystem with a bang using an RTS game, and even putting an overseas game like Legion Conquest under its feet.
Moreover, the reviews for Warcraft were incredibly high for players and industry professionals like. The ratings for Warcraft were consistently above 9.5, and many video game reviewing companies had nothing but praises for the game.
High Quality Chinese RTS game: Warcraft!
Entering PC cla.s.sics with a storm!
You don’t believe that it’s a Chinese videogame from these cinematics!
From I Am MT to Warcraft, how much more can World of Azeroth provide?
Rating of 9.5, this came could become a milestone in RTS games!
RTS game legend: This game destroys Legion Conquest!
Professionals say: Incredible high quality game!
The entire video game media had nothing but praises for the game, and in a few days most of the videogame media had become Chen Mo’s diehard fans, prasing Warcraft again and again.
Many players would dedicate their own time to promote Warcraft to other players.
In no time at all, Warcraft became incredibly well known. Even players who didn’t play RTS games knew about the great game.

On the fifth, Seven Heroes entered public testing.
On the tenth, Ain’s world Entered private testing.
These games were supposed to become hot topics of the both, but never managed to garner much attention. Seven Heroes actually gathered less players during its public beta compared to private.
Ain World had it even worse, when it entered closed beta, Warcraft was on its rise. When the two games were compared, Ain World’s statistics were an eyesore.
After experiencing the story and cinematics from Warcraft, the players have developed a specific taste. The players who tried you Ain World for its western fantasy theme didn’t last too long before quitting.
“What are these character designs, and that hairstyle? It’s so obvious that it’s a cheap knockoff.”
“This opening cinematic looks like it’s made for children. You guys should take a look at Warcraft’s opening.”
“Emperor Dynasty Entertainment made a game of this quality? You guys are a huge company, yet failed to compete against a C-grade videogame designer who just entered the industry a year ago? You guys are making me laugh.”
“Seriously, is the story written by a teenager?”
“I’ll make a joke, an RPG game is destroyed to nothing by an RTS game.”
Even diehard fans of Emperor Dynasty Entertainment couldn’t make up a single excuse for how big of a flop Ain World was.
It might’ve been better without Warcraft. But with Warcraft in everyone’s mind, all the flaws in Ain World were glaringly obvious.
The cinematics and story were on a completely different level. The most infuriating thing was that Warcraft belonged to a genre where story wasn’t important. On the other hand Ain World was an RPG!
Tang Dagang was stuck in a hard spot. You can’t blame me, Emperor Dynasty Entertainment didn’t give me enough resources at all!
The internals of Emperor Dynasty never reached a consensus with regards to Ain World. Qiu Jiang and Qin Xiao were strongly against Ain World, but Yan Zhenyuan and Lin Chaoxu were quite cautiously supportive, unwilling to commit too much resources onto Tang Dagang.
Tang Dagang was angry at the fact he didn’t get the best Emperor Dynasty Entertainment could offer for things such as story writing and art.
But in reality? So what if he got the best?
Chen Mo didn’t even bat an eye.
Seven Heroes and Ain World weren’t popular at all. They were completely overshadowed by Warcraft on Weibo’s trending topics.
Emperor Dynasty Entered and Zen Entertainment didn’t expect that works that they have put time and effort into got beaten by an RTS game of all things.
The only thing worse than dying with a bang was to die quietly. Ain World had some haters at the start, but as time went on, n.o.body even bat an eye.
This MMORPG that wanted to copy World of Azeroth failed miserably.

At this time, RTS fans were pulling their hair trying to figure out the strategies for Warcraft. They were shocked by how much more complex the gameplay was than they originally thought.
At the beginning, everyone just tried to train a bunch of high tier units for one big battle later on. The players were highly focused on making strong units and completely neglected the heroes.
Later on, a stronger player discovered the use of heroes, focusing on getting skills and grinding mobs. Strategies involving hara.s.sing players when they were building up using Blademaster or Demon Hunter started becoming more common.
Afterwards, scouting, group farming, rus.h.i.+ng, and distributing resource gathering started appearing. RTS players from Legion Conquests were playing Warcraft day in day out to try and figure out new strategies.
Chen Mo included a complete ranking system in Warcraft as well as a replay system. Players could watch strong players battle it out, learning strategies first hand as well as being able to revise old strategies, allowing new ones to be developed even faster than before.
In a week, Xue Kai and other RTS t.i.tans managed to reach twenty-four hundred points. They were even ready to give up sleep in order to climb even higher.
Warcraft even infiltrated communities that didn’t play RTS games. Players who never played Legion Conquest started playing Warcraft because of its rich story.
