Chapter 222: Familiar Window

Noah's anger was not directed at the monsters who tried to kill him, but at his "teammates", the other warriors who had not gotten the monsters' attention... The way they were acting was infuriating him.

Noah was used to breaking into Fortresses with the members of the elite team he had previously, or breaking into them alone like that time using only the imps, so he knew what each one was supposed to do and how a poorly executed action could cause a problem for the whole group.

Seeing these people attacking in such an unbridled way made Noah angry, as the warriors were fumbling while the archers and wizards just shot arrows and spells without caring about anything. If it weren't for Noah being so flashy, these wild boars probably would have already been angry with the magicians and turned to attack them.

In a Fortress, the backline always had to be careful not to draw as much attention as the warriors. Noah was a great example of the opposite of this, since when he was a wizard, the monsters were always angry and wanted to kill him, often ignoring the warriors who were standing beside them.

And because he was fighting Rank C monsters, this became even more difficult for Noah, since the resistance of these boars was even greater than some Rank D Bosses because of their nature.

Apparently the essences of these monsters would give resistance to anyone who absorbed it, which also meant that even Noah's flames were having a hard time burning these monsters.

But, on the other hand, the difficulty in dispatching these monsters he felt was no accident, since the amount of experience he was gaining from these monsters was also much greater.

At that point, the other three warriors were vying for the attention of two wild boars, while Noah alone was looking beautiful fighting with two enraged beasts who did not want to leave him alone.

The bodies of these monsters were full of scratches that were still on fire since the first attack. This slowly drained these monsters' souls, and even though the physical damage was not as effective, the magic effect of [h.e.l.l Flames] was enough to wipe out these monsters in addition to the attacks from the magicians and archers that constantly a.s.sailed them.

Unfortunately, even killing the three monsters, no essence was left on their corpses. For the Blessed, it would make no difference, after all, they were only concerned with the merit points they would receive at the end of the Fortress. But Noah was curious about these "essences". He hadn't seen any yet, so he was excited to see what they looked like.

"Phew, this battle was difficult. I hate dealing with monsters that have high resistance," one of the warriors said as he breathed heavily after walking away from one of the boar corpses.

"Boy, you ran in a very reckless way. Attracting the attention of so many wild boars can end up killing you one day. Leave these monsters to the more experienced ones to deal with; you can join in from time to time cutting them with your fire claws," a man with a long beard said as he rested a large ax on his shoulder.

"Yes, boy, you could have put our lives at risk with that too! In the next battle leave it to the more experienced," a shorter man said as well.

Hearing this, Noah looked at them with an expression of genuine doubt, wondering if these men really meant it or if it was a joke, although no one could see his expression under his helmet. But no, what Noah saw were not the faces of people who were playing. Apparently they did not realize that they were the ones who had made the battle so complicated with their strange attacks and syndromes of protagonists.

But before Noah could answer, the captain approached the group and said in a serious voice, "Aren't you ashamed? If it weren't for this boy you would have lost the monsters' attention and someone might even have been hurt. I don't want to hear any more about anyone complaining about what he does. If he does something bad, I will scold him myself, or have you forgotten who the captain is here?"

Hearing the rebuke from the captain, who was a Rank B man, the warriors swallowed the frustration they were feeling and turned their backs to Noah.

The other members of the group looked on with astonished expressions. They couldn't believe that the captain, a Blessed Rank B, was giving this kid so much face. Even if they were Blessed Rank C, there was a huge gap between Rank C and Rank B. To move up to Rank B it was necessary to absorb an enormous amount of monster essences, an amount sufficient to more than double the strength of a Blessed person who had just reached Rank C, to the point that an intermediate Blessed Rank C could even deal with three Blessed Ones who had just reached Rank C.

But when they remembered this boy's s.p.a.ce Blessing they understood why: someone with a s.p.a.ce Blessing would always be valued wherever he went, even more so someone so young. If this boy were to reach Rank B because he has a s.p.a.ce Blessing, his usefulness to the family would surpa.s.s several common Blessed Rank B's, if one can call a Blessed Rank B "common".

Normally, Noah being a very observant person, he would have noticed the care that this team captain was taking for him, but all the attention he had was being focused on a window that floated in front of him.

In fact, it had been a long time that Noah had not received any windows like this, but finally, after several days, he had once again received a mission from the system.

[Ding, a new mission has been added to the "Missions" tab. The Descendant will be able to see this mission at any time.]
