Chapter 2004  Eighth Bas.e.m.e.nt

Fang Heng asked, "Dudley, what's the eighth bas.e.m.e.nt?"

Dudley was stunned when he heard the question and asked back, "The eighth bas.e.m.e.nt?"

"Don't you know?"

Dudley glanced at the overall architectural structure of the research inst.i.tute displayed on the big screen and shook his head repeatedly, "Maybe... I think it's a storage room. I'm not sure. I've never been in there before."

Fang Heng closed his eyes and released his perception.

That's right!

The faint lifeblood fluctuation came from below and the energy was still gradually increasing and spreading!

There was definitely something going on there!

Fang Heng opened his eyes again and said, "The eighth bas.e.m.e.nt is very strange. Is there any secret area there?"

"I really don't know."

Dudley's expression was bitter.

He was just an ordinary research team leader hired by Miyamoto Teru. He had rarely left the research lab since he came to Frostmist Island. How would he know what other secret areas the research inst.i.tute had?

Fang Heng rubbed his chin.

This was very interesting.

What exactly was hidden in the eighth bas.e.m.e.nt that could trigger such strong lifeblood fluctuations?

What was even weirder was that the alarm in the eighth bas.e.m.e.nt was only triggered after the power was cut off and restarted. His perception of the lifeblood fluctuation below was only vaguely detected after the power was cut off earlier.

Could it be related to the dragon soul crystal?

Fang Heng did not rush to the eighth bas.e.m.e.nt to check it out immediately. Instead, he stayed where he was.

He waited for another half an hour.

As sizzling electric sounds echoed, a pulsating current appeared on the central teleportation gate.

Dudley heaved a sigh of relief. He turned to look at Fang Heng and whispered, "The teleportation pa.s.sage has been rebooted. It's estimated to be completed in five minutes. If it fails, it means there's an anomaly with the internal components of the teleportation facility. I'm certain I can't resolve the anomaly in a short time. I have no understanding of this, and killing me is useless..."

"Don't always talk about fighting and killing... You're making me look like a demon...I have high hopes for you, Dudley."

Fang Heng said with a smile, his gaze focused on the teleportation pa.s.sage.

"Also, you're five minutes late compared to the agreed-upon time."

Dudley, who had just heaved a sigh of relief, suddenly felt his heart leap to his throat.

"Don't worry, I'm very easy to talk to. As long as the teleportation pa.s.sage is successfully activated, I can spare you this time." Fang Heng patted Dudley's shoulder and said, "Keep it up."

"Alright, alright..."

Dudley felt as if he had walked on the edge of h.e.l.l. He quickly lowered his head and continued to monitor the various data of the teleportation pa.s.sage.

Soon, Gu Qingzhu returned to the hall with the demi-humans rescued from the third floor of the research inst.i.tute.

After a fierce battle, several demi-humans in the team suffered considerable injuries.

Coincidentally, the teleportation pa.s.sage in the hall had been reactivated.

"Buzz...!"

As the large machine roared, a light blue portal screen appeared in the center of the teleportation gate.

The teleportation pa.s.sage was reactivated!

Success!

Dudley waved his fist excitedly, feeling that his life was temporarily saved!

Seeing this, Gu Qingzhu nodded to Jimmy beside her and said, "Send them into the game world first. We'll think of a way to evacuate later."

"Yes!"

Jimmy immediately called everyone to bring the injured and rescued demi-humans into the teleportation pa.s.sage.

Gu Qingzhu came to Fang Heng's side and asked. "How is it, Fang Heng? Did you find out the exact location of Miyamoto Teru?"

"Yes, I found him, but he's not in the research inst.i.tute. I'm afraid we can't get out now."

Fang Heng spread his hands and quickly explained to Gu Qingzhu the operation and consequences of locking down the entire underground area of the research inst.i.tute.

Gu Qingzhu frowned.

According to Fang Heng's plan, they successfully found the location of Miyamoto Teru's research inst.i.tute and rescued the trapped demi-humans.

It could be said that the most important goal had been achieved.

Unfortunately, Miyamoto Teru was not in the research inst.i.tute area.

"It's a pity that the research inst.i.tute's information can't be copied and taken away directly. Miyamoto Teru isn't in the research inst.i.tute either."

After hearing Fang Heng's explanation, Gu Qingzhu sighed softly.

"Since that's the case, this operation ends here. The Federation has sealed off the area outside. Under these circ.u.mstances, killing Miyamoto Teru is virtually impossible. Let's evacuate from here first."

Gu Qingzhu didn't lose her cool like Fang Heng had imagined. She quickly calmed down and nodded, saying, "Fang Heng, we found the clansmen imprisoned by Miyamoto Teru on the third floor. They've suffered severe injuries, presumably related to Miyamoto Teru's research inst.i.tute. I need to evacuate them as soon as possible and return to the Zombie Apocalypse."

"That's what I thought too. Escort your people back to the Zombie Apocalypse first. Cleriway will use the sacred tree to help with the treatment." Fang Heng nodded and looked at the map on the big screen again, saying, "But there's still some time. Why don't you stay and help me?"

"What?"

"Look at these positions."

Gu Qingzhu looked at the big screen that Fang Heng was pointing at, and a thoughtful expression appeared on her face.

Fang Heng said, "In the eighth bas.e.m.e.nt of the research room, after the power reboot, we detected several alarm points. It seems a bit off."

"Indeed."

"And the researchers here don't know much about the eighth bas.e.m.e.nt."

Fang Heng said as he adjusted the surveillance screen to a pa.s.sage leading down.

"There are surveillance cameras everywhere in the entire research inst.i.tute, but the eighth bas.e.m.e.nt is missing. It is particularly strange..."

Gu Qingzhu asked, "Do you think there's a problem down there?"

"Hmm, I sensed a power fluctuation in the eighth bas.e.m.e.nt. I suspect that it might be related to the dragon soul crystal."

"Alright, I'll go with you."

Gu Qingzhu arranged for Jimmy to stand guard at the teleportation pa.s.sage alone. She turned around and left with Fang Heng to enter the eighth bas.e.m.e.nt to search.

There was a staircase connecting the seventh and eighth bas.e.m.e.nts of the research inst.i.tute.

After pa.s.sing through the stairs, the two of them arrived at the eighth bas.e.m.e.nt. There was not a single surveillance facility here.

Just from the appearance, it seemed to be just like Dudley had said, it was a simple miscellaneous storage area.

Cold!

Stepping into the eighth bas.e.m.e.nt, Fang Heng immediately felt a chill.

Compared to the outside, the temperature here was at least twice as low!

Why was it so cold?

Fang Heng and Gu Qingzhu looked at each other.

Gu Qingzhu shook her head.

She didn't have the vampire bloodline, so her perception of lifeblood was far less sensitive. Therefore, she couldn't sense the lifeblood power fluctuation that Fang Heng mentioned.

"Over there."

Fang Heng sensed some lifeblood fluctuations and walked toward a door on the other side of the corridor.

The door wasn't completely closed, leaving a gap.

Cold air visible to the naked eye was constantly seeping out from the cracks.

Strangely, it was clearly an electronic lock, but for some reason, the door was in the open position and hadn't been locked.
