Chapter 2320 Sneak Attack
Inside the Great Hall of the Wood tribe's habitat, Klonor and several elders simultaneously sensed the activation of their internal imprints, their expressions filled with suspicion.
Not good!
Something was amiss with the sacred tree sapling!
In an instant, there was a tremendous ripple in the strength of the sacred tree sapling. Within the Wood tribe's habitat, various buffs that had enveloped the tribe members were suddenly depleted by more than half.
A Wood tribe guard hurriedly stepped forward to report, "Elders, there's an anomaly in the sacred tree cultivation area. The projection mirror communication has been disrupted. We've already dispatched personnel to investigate."
This was bad news!
With the support of the sacred tree's strength missing, the barrier energy points of the habitat were rapidly decreasing.
"Have Walter hold off the Federation's attack outside. Everyone else, follow me!"
Klonor dared not be complacent. He immediately led the others toward the underground cultivation area of the sacred tree to provide reinforcement.
Hurriedly arriving at the entrance to the underground pa.s.sage leading to the sacred tree cultivation area, two tribesmen had just opened the lower gate when suddenly, a black mist billowed out from within the pa.s.sage.
"What!"
The Wood tribe guards were alarmed at the sight.
Could this black mist actually affect their perception?
Not good! It was the pollution fog!
Seeing this eerie black mist, the two elders at the front immediately realized what it was. Their expressions s.h.i.+fted slightly, and they promptly stepped back.
They exchanged a glance, their eyes filled with intense vigilance, then turned to look back at Elder Klonor.
Klonor's eyes widened in astonishment.
It was the pollution fog!
The pollution fog was affecting the imprint teleportation!
Why would pollution fog appear here?
"Quick! Fall back! Don't inhale the black fog. Release your mental strength to s.h.i.+eld yourselves! Don't let the pollution invade your bodies!"
The two elders reacted immediately, shouting at the Wood tribe guards to retreat.
Many of the younger generation in the tree spirit tribe had not experienced the previous holy war and knew little about the power of pollution fog. Seeing the elders so on edge, they couldn't help but feel puzzled.
Was it really that terrifying?
At first glance, the black fog seemed capable of s.h.i.+elding vision and perception.
The younger generation of the tree spirit tribe had not fully grasped the situation. They obeyed the elders' command to retreat, and soon after, they heard a rustling sound coming from within the black fog.
What could it be?
The elder of the Wood tribe knew well the terror of the black fog, staring intently at the entrance of the pa.s.sage.
Suddenly, shaky figures began to emerge from within the black fog.
Corrupted beings?
They looked similar, but there was something different about them.
"Take them out, but try not to get too close!" Klonor warned the guards, clasping his hands together in front of him.
Chi!
Suddenly, countless thin vines extended from the ground, rapidly spreading and entangling the approaching horde of zombies that emerged from the pa.s.sage.
The rapidly growing vines firmly immobilized the zombie horde in place.
"Ugh..."
The zombies emitted cries of agony, struggling to move their feet and break free from the entanglement.
Taking advantage of this opportunity, the tribe members behind them unleashed a barrage of natural arrows toward the zombie horde.
"Bang! Bang! Bang!!!"
The natural arrows exploded upon the zombies, creating dull thuds and blasting out b.l.o.o.d.y craters.
However, the blood holes that were blown open began rapidly healing before their eyes, visible to the naked eye!
Like the outside group of Lickers, these zombie creatures possessed terrifying vitality!
One vigilant elite guard of the Wood tribe cautiously asked, "Elder, what is this aura of black fog?"
The senior elder glanced at the tribespeople and shook their head, seeming reluctant to say more.
"It's a natural disaster."
"Is it caused by the Leaf tribe?"
Klonor furrowed his brow tightly and said in a deep voice, "That's not clear for now. Let's purify this black fog first."
...
At the end of the pa.s.sage, in the cultivation area of the sacred tree, the entire tree was shrouded in black fog, emitting a constant hissing sound.
Unlike Serge's plan of making a hasty escape, Fang Heng chose to carefully observe from the shadows.
He was also affected by the black fog to some extent, but not nearly as severely as the tree spirit tribe.
Leave now? When he had the big prize within reach?
A greedy glint appeared in Fang Heng's eyes as he focused on more than a dozen elite guards of the Wood tribe surrounding the central magic array in the middle of the hall.
Among them, the sapling of the sacred tree s.h.i.+mmered in alternating waves of green and black light.
Additionally, positioned at the center of the magic array were sacrificial jars and natural crystals.
Great treasures indeed!
He had started cultivating Abe Akaya from a seed, establis.h.i.+ng a soul connection long ago. Unlike the tree spirit tribe, who lacked such abilities, Fang Heng's control over the sacred tree far surpa.s.sed theirs.
Now affected by pollution, the sapling was highly agitated, showing signs of partial loss of control.
While Shamuk focused on suppressing the magic array, the other two elders coordinated with the Wood tribe guards to repel the zombies emerging from the darkness around them.
Unnoticed amidst the cover of black fog, Fang Heng had stealthily blended into the zombie horde, inching closer to the sapling of the sacred tree.
Spiritual piercing!
Blood manipulation!
Fang Heng targeted one of the elite sharp Wood tribe guards who was a.s.sisting Shamuk in stabilizing the master magic array, using his disruptive mental attack skills.
The Wood tribe guard, deeply concentrated on maintaining the magic array, was caught off guard by the sudden psychic a.s.sault. His mind momentarily faltered, and his blood surged rapidly within his body.
These techniques were typically employed by Fang Heng against senior tree spirit tribe elders, making them overwhelming for ordinary elite Wood tribe members!
Instantly, the Wood tribe guard staggered as if struck hard, coughing up blood, and then flew backward into the darkness, disappearing.
What?!
Everyone turned towards the spot where the Wood tribe member had flown into the darkness, bewildered by what had just occurred. How could he suddenly...?
The remaining Wood tribe guards who were controlling the magic array looked at Shamuk, their elder, alarmed.
With their perceptions s.h.i.+elded by the thick fog around them, even Shamuk was unsure of what had transpired. Could it be a malfunction of the magic array?
"Don't panic, stabilize the magic array!"
"Spurt!!!"
Before Shamuk could finish his command, another elite Wood tribe member controlling the magic array spat blood, violently ejected from the magic array, and vanished into the shrouded periphery enveloped by black fog, completely silent.
Within the fog-covered area were densely packed zombie creatures. It was clear that anyone severely injured and thrown out wouldn't fare well.
The remaining few tree spirit tribe members controlling the magic array turned pale, overcome with extreme fear.
Without waiting for Shamuk to say anything further, a third member spat blood and was hurled out.
The Wood tribe guards were gripped with intense fear.
It was now clear. They were under attack!
Unknown a.s.sailants were launching strikes from an unknown direction, leaving them completely unaware of the source of these a.s.saults.
No one knew if they would be the next victim!
