Jessica looked at herself in the mirror and smoothed out her dress. She put on her stage smile and walked downstairs, holding up the hem of her dress. Daniel had given her this dress last night, saying that it was a dress worn by a certain queen during her wedding in the last century. The dress was inlaid with all kinds of gems and looked exceptionally gorgeous. It suited her very well and she liked it very much. She was definitely going to be the center of attention today!

All of a sudden, Jessica stopped in her tracks. She had caught sight of Qiao Mei in the crowd. Qiao Mei was sitting quietly in a corner, wearing that graduated pink princess dress. Even though Qiao Mei was seated so far away, she looked like a real princess, attracting the attention of everyone present.

As Jessica stood on the stairs, she could hear the guests quietly trying to find out among themselves who Qiao Mei was. She was clearly not the center of attention anymore.

No matter how much Jessica wanted to deny it, her rational self knew that Qiao Mei’s looks and temperament were superior to hers. Even though Qiao Mei did not even wear one piece of jewelry, she still looked like a princess.

Jessica was so angry that she wanted to rush over and tear Qiao Mei’s dress off! That was her dress! It was hers!

“What are you looking at? Let’s go.” She heard Xia Zhe speak up suddenly.

It was only at this moment that Jessica realized that Xia Zhe was waiting for her at the bend around the stairs. She instantly forgot about Qiao Mei and that dress. A real smile appeared on her face as she ran towards him.

“Fang Chen~” Before Jessica could throw herself into Xia Zhe’s arms, he had already turned around and walked away with big strides. She did not even manage to touch him at all.

Jessica was stunned. Xia Zhe was still singing a different tune with her at a time like this. What would everyone think of her! Xia Zhe’s appearance immediately caused the guests to whisper among themselves. They had finally met him in person and could see his face clearly!

Xia Zhe was indeed handsome and looked hundreds of times better than how looked in those photos in the newspapers. No wonder he caught Jessica’s eye and she had wooed him in such a high-profile manner.

The engagement ceremony was simple but formal and they went through all the necessary procedures. However, as it went on, Qiao Mei widened her eyes at the next part. She did not know why a pastor had appeared and looked at Xia Zhe, asking, “Mr. Fang Chen, do you agree to live together with Miss Jessica in holy matrimony? To love her, to honor her, to comfort her, and to keep her in sickness and in health? To forsake all others, for as long as you both shall live?”

Wait a minute! Were they saying wedding vows? Were these needed during an engagement ceremony? Qiao Mei had never attended a Western-style wedding before and did not know anything about the process, but she felt that something was not right!

It was indeed not right. A sly glint flashed across Jessica’s eyes. This was not an engagement banquet, but a simplified wedding ceremony! Since everyone was already here, they might as well go all out! They might as well get down to business! Otherwise, there would be more problems if they allowed this issue to be dragged out!

The guests present did not look surprised. In fact, what they received were wedding invites. However, when they arrived, they had realized that it was a very small banquet and there were no prominent people around. The only people present were small fry like them.
