Chapter 185: Something Seemed… Off
Jiang Chenglang smoothly inserted himself into the conversation. “Uncle An has indeed taught Xiao Yu well. In the future, if Uncle An when you have the time, feel free to contact me. I will send someone to bring you and Aunt over to the Jiang family home and spend some time with Xiao Yu.”
An Yimin was flattered. “Really… really?”
“Of course.”
An Yimin was pleasantly surprised, but on second thought, he was afraid that if he couldn’t understand the rules of a wealthy family, people would just laugh at him.
However, even though Jiang Yu’s eldest brother looked a little cold, his way of doing things seemed to be quite approachable?
!!“By the way,” Jiang Chenglang added, “Uncle An, you can address me as Xiao Lang.”
Jiang Zeyu jumped in. “Uncle An, you can call me Xiao Ywu!”
An Yimin: ???
Were all the members of the Jiang family so easy to get along with?
An Yimin thought for a moment and understood that the Jiang family was being polite to him because of Yu Yu. It seemed like Yu Yu was quite favored within the Jiang family.
He looked at Jiang Yu proudly and saw her hand over the menu.
“Let’s order first.”
Naturally, Jiang Yu let An Yimin order the dishes.
She knew that she should call him dad but this t.i.tle has been removed from her vocabulary for more than a decade, in fact, since she had been born. She couldn’t bring herself to say it out loud.
An Yimin did not mind. He glanced around and saw that everyone was looking at him. They did not raise any objections to Jiang Yu’s actions.
It would be a waste of time to be polite now. However, when An Yimin looked at the menu, the numbers behind each dish blinded him. He almost threw away the menu in his hands.
An Yimin blurted out, “Oh my G.o.d, this is too expensive!”
Jiang Yu shook her head gently. “It’s not expensive. I have money.”
An Yimin was a little conflicted.
Indeed, he was the poorest person here.
However, after being frugal all his life, he could not bring himself to spend so extravagantly. On top of that, he instinctively wanted to save some money for the other party.
He had never been to Cixi Restaurant before. Although he had heard of this name before, he knew that this was a place where only the rich would patron. He did not have much money to his name so he naturally could not bear to come here and squander away whatever he had. He was satisfied with just hearing about its reputation.
Even though An Yimin knew that the dishes here were not cheap, he hadn’t expected it to be this expensive! Now though, he could not bring up the idea of changing to another restaurant.
An Yimin was very distressed. Feng Linbai, who was sitting by his side, timely suggested, “Uncle An, it’s alright. Just order the dishes that Yu’er likes. We have never been here before either. It’s fine to spend a little more once in a while.”
An Yimin thought about it and that made sense. When he looked at the menu again, he felt less stressed. He looked through the menu and picked a few dishes.
As he picked, he said, “Yu’er likes beef, fish, and desserts… she likes to eat meat more, vegetables, not so much. She especially doesn’t like celery… Alright, these dishes will do.”
An Yimin returned the menu to Jiang Yu and looked at her lovingly.
Jiang Yu scanned the menu and discovered that they were all indeed her favorite food.
The uncomfortable feeling in her heart surged up again.
It was as if she was choking and she felt a dull pain that made it difficult for her to breathe.
Jiang Yu took a deep breath, lowered her eyes, and said, “Thank… you.”
No, she still couldn’t say it out loud.
She clearly knew the p.r.o.nunciation of the word but she has never said it out loud in her life. Was that why it was so difficult?
An Yimin frowned.
Why did he feel that Yu Yu was being very distant with him today?
Something seemed… off.
